This city is not for everyone, if you like shopping malls and big crowded cities it is for you. It may be cheap but if you want to live in a good location with swimming pool, go to nice rooftops and restaurants, use taxis then it is similar cost to western countries. In many areas there are no sidewalks, big and dangerous traffic all the time, pollution, taxis do not want to go with meter, it can get really hot. Definitely try to live by the metro. Many foreigners, mostly friendly people, cheap

Decent city, mainly because the people are so kind. But, it is a pain to get cash (spent a few hours every couple weeks trying Western Union after WU and never finding one with enough cash), and a lot of places don't take cards/the current exchange rate is a ripoff. However, BRING REPELLENT. The place is littered with mosquitos, and my partner and I both contracted dengue. He ended up in the hospital, and it was not a blast. 2nd time to Tokyo in 2 years. So much to see and do and great value in the past few years due to a declining yen against the USD & Euro. Budapest was on my list about cities for living. I stayed for 7 days and was a little disappointed People are not very friendly, lots os places very dirty, people smoke a lot and the costs isn't affordable as people indicated here. Its a beautiful place, walkable, people have a good level of education, lots of things to do, but not as i imagined. Even so its a nice place.

Lived in Prague for 8 years. It's a beautiful international European city. Never learned Czech, but was fine. Almost all cafes and restaurants have English menus. Superb food delivery apps (Wolt is the best). All the food you can imagine. Vietnamese food is world-class because of the huge Vietnamese population. I am reporting from Istanbul. The prices shown here are much lower than the current prices in Istanbul. (Prices are constantly increasing due to high inflation) For example, 1 beer costs $2 in markets, not in cafes! In cafes it is 4$ - also dinner is said to be 4$, but you can only eat a toasted bread for this money. To get an idea, a main course and a drink is at least $10.
