Quite pricey, but not as bad as London. Great underground. The city is very clean. Food is ok, but far from amazing. Rental market is very difficult, which every property agency would confirm. Renting is not only expensive, but also problematic due to the local law. Be sure to read up before looking for a place as even verbal agreements are legally binding. Communicating in English is easy as almost everyone speaks the language reasonably well, however good luck in finding anything written in English. No directions, no product descriptions, nothing. I found Swedes to be very friendly and helpful. Overall not a bad place to be, if you can bear the cold (expected, not bad) and the darkness (was quite a surprise, it's worse than it seems, very depressing).

Expensive and crowded. Low quality of services. Customer service is a joke. Great internet connectivity. Mediocre food, unless you like Indian, which is everywhere. Crappy weather. Not safe at night (depends on the area of course). I lived in Docklands, didn't feel safe outside of my apartment. Difficult to get anything done without proof of address, so make sure to get a place as soon as possible. Opening a business account in a "traditional" bank can take weeks. Banking is very backward - unless you enjoy browsing PDF statements... I honestly don't understand why London is so popular. I was deeply disappointed and left after a few months. The only real upside is the job market, but as a nomad, you can provide services to London-based businesses from somewhere else.

I live in Rio and unfortunately it's not a good place to be a nomad. Most people don't speak English. Most places don't have WiFi. We can't depend on WiFi and 4g anywhere. They don't work well. It's not safe to walk at night. It's not safe to work in public spaces. The city is very big and transportation is terrible. Besides it's too hot most of the year and its polluted.

Not a very "freelance/artist" friendly city. The look of someone working inside a coffeeshop is still unusual and unappreciated. Extremely not accessible and not disable friendly (Metro, bus, building, coffeeshops and restaurants...)

Very livable. Great weather, clean, inexpensive and very friendly. I recommend the Laurels area. It's quieter, cheaper, more authentic, and cleaner than Poblado but not as compact. Envigado is supposed to be a very nice area as well. Don't alone at night anywhere no matter the neighborhood.
