What are the most trending digital nomad hubs?

by @startupblink |  | 28 comments

Hi all,
I am trying to identify digital nomad hubs in each continent focusing mainly on the amount of digital nomads out there. I mean places which you can actually connect to nomads, regardless of cost of life and other factors. Also, what do you consider as the digital nomad locations which will be the next hubs?

That’s what I have currently, would you add a city, or remove one you find irrelevant?

European Hubs- Berlin, Prauge, Budapest, Barcelona
Asian Hubs- Chiang Mai, Ho Chi Minh, Ubud, Canggu, Bangkok, Davao
Latin American Hubs- Medellin, Buenos Aires, Santiago, Playa del Carmen
USA Hubs- Austin, Portland, San Diego, Boulder
Location which are becoming regional Hubs- Krakow, Lisbon, Taipei
Hidden Recommended Locations- Sofia, Plovdiv, Bucharest, Brasov, Cluj Napoca, Zagreb, Split, Thessaloniki, Yerevan, Tbilisi, Malta, Haifa, Galway, Phuket, Tenerife, Ljublijana
Best Value Locations- Lviv, Kiev, Odessa, Moscow, Saint Peterburg, Minsk
Top Level Hubs- Hong Kong, Singapore, Tokyo, Tel Aviv, London, Munich, New York, San Francisco

Mod edit: Nomad List now has a live ranking of the trending digital nomad hubs

Any digital nomads w/ over $10k/m revenue?

by @homakov |  | 79 comments

Are there guys here with income over $10k month living more luxury-like lifestyle? I struggle to find friends with similar lifestyle who can travel anywhere and not care about the money, who can go to a nice restaurant or bar and not look at the prices.

I am not a douche bag (mostly) who only cares about the money, but the majority of people I met are trying to spend less and it kills so many opportunities to have fun… I am not rich at all, but I hate “backpacker” lifestyle and call myself a “flashpacker”.

I used to live in Bangkok and I visit this city frequently. Now I’m in Saigon and going to Taipei in the end of Nov. Anyone wants to connect?

Ko Samui, Ko Lanta, Goa or Chennai. Which one to start developing apps?

in Ko Samui, Thailand by @lordcyberspacer |  | 10 comments

Hi nomads!

I’m intending to become a proper digital nomad in January at the latest, and I am just starting to take some initial steps. I am a software developer and I intend to create an app and build a startup. Which one of these places would be best for that?

  • Ko Samui (Thailand)
  • Ko Lanta (Thailand)
  • Goa (India)
  • Chennai (India)

My idea is to develop my business in any of those places and open it here in Australia later on. Obviously, one of the main reasons why I have picked those places is that they are very affordable so that I can make the most of my savings from my current contract  Goa would probably be my favourite pick since is quieter and not as crowded as Chennai (I think), plus living costs are about half of what they are in Ko Samui and Ko Lanta.

However, due to the nature of my business plan, Internet is a must. I have read your article about Goa and you said that Internet access is pretty bad, however I noticed that you wrote that a year ago and I also heard that this is currently changing. What’s the situation right now?

Cheers!

What do you do to avoid plastic bottled water in Asia?

by @nomadaccountant |  | 18 comments

If I stay somewhere for a while I usually get hard bottled bulk water containers, but often I have to rely on cheap plastic water bottles, which isn’t good from both a health and environmental perspective. Have used a drink bottle with a filter but can’t say I trusted it, and it was a little annoying. Any better options in use?

Schengen tourist visa - legal to work for home companies?

by @lefnire |  | 33 comments

So I know it’s illegal to work in Europe for European companies without a work visa / permit. I’m also aware of the Germany freelancer visa, which lets you work in Germany legally for 3 years (but I’m not stationing in Germany; I want to hop hop hop). I see many digital nomads programming on the road, making income from American companies on a Schengen tourist visa. Of course this seems fine, since it’s brining American dollars into Europe. But is it legal? Has anyone had experiences / conversations with immigration, or seen this discussed anywhere online? My Google fu fails me here.

Mumbai, August 28-September 2, September 7, September 11 2019. Got a friend to pick me up at the airport, so I can't evaluate how well UBER works from the airport. Prepaid taxi from the airport is my usual recommendation, and if I was traveling tomorrow that is what I would do. Inside of Mumbai, UBER was my go-to app and worked well. Autos (aka 'Tuk-tuks' in some places) get around well and are cheap, some are also on Uber. Be aware that unless you use a service like UBER, as a foreigner, th

Having spent a total of two weeks in London on two separate occasions and having lived in NYC for two years, both are among my favorite cities in the world. Londoners are quite internationally and ethnically diverse, and seemingly better educated and more intellectual than New Yorkers in aggregate. The city very clean with a stunning mix of modern and historic architecture, and arguably has Europe's best public transit in terms of signage, availability, cleanliness and general efficiency. Much nicer than people would have you think. Too many locals seem to be under the impression that it's the busiest, most expensive city in the world. These people clearly haven't travelled much. Not saying it's cheap, but for a big city in an English speaking country it's about what you'd expect, if not cheaper. Pros: - Hot humid summers, gorgeous orange autumns, cold snowy winters. If you like distinct seasons this is a great place to be. Winter is about 4-5 months, from Nov-Mar. Ignore every

Don't believe the prices on here for an apartment. 686 usd/month refers to an apartment in a high class condo, right in the city centre and seconds away from the BTS(train station). Just remember this, people working at supermarkets make 2 usd/per hour. If you want to live like a local, then you can save a lot of money. If you don't mind a 5-10 minute walk from the BTS, then you can easily get a one bedroom apartment for 300 USD per month, in a high class condo, plus with free golf cart ser
