This is my hometown and a city I lived in for around 20 years of my life. If you want a place with a climate much warmer that Moscow and lower prices - look no further. This town would be great for you. In terms of speaking the language - you need to know Russian at certain degree, otherwise it might a bit a hard for you to navigate in the city. The main street of the city is Krasnaya street and you can take a bike and go through the whole street and enjoy the beauty and the peace of the city. In terms of natural beauty, go to parks like Solnechniy ostrov, Dendrarium, Zaton, etc. Most likely you'll enjoy the most in the center of the city. If you need to go shopping look no further and go to "Gallery Krasnodar" - a huge shopping mall where you can eat, go to movies (in Russian of course, no subtitles) or shop for groceries. Uber is widely used there, although it's operating under the brand Yandex.Taxi nowadays, so you might rather use that service in Russia. Overall, a good city to live in and not expensive. If you want to eat cheap go to a small family-restaurants. Air is quite polluted, unfortunately. Driving also not recommended. Streets are narrow and driving is chaotic. If you want something nearby the sea consider Sochi - it's a bit more expensive, but more developed for foreigners, I think.

  • Tbilisi

I've lived in Tbilisi for three months. I started in Kutaisi (fly cheaply to Kutaisi with WizzAir) for a few days before hiking through the Svaneti region for four days. Highly recommend getting to the Caucasus! If you're looking to bootstrap while you retrain yourself or start your online business, then Tbilisi is a great option. I've spent less in Tbilisi than I did in Chiang Mai. They speak better English than what some may suggest. I've gotten the wrong order a few times, but other than that, I have not had a problem with communicating. Internet is copious. I recommend Hurma and Althaus Tea Room for a couple great cafes to work from. I found Georgians to be rather unfriendly, and it was difficult to make any local friends. Tbilisi is the worst city for gay life that I have ever been to, so if you're LGBT then don't expect much. On the other hand, Tbilisi is exceptionally safe. I walked home alone from the bar at 3 AM on several occasions and never felt any unease. Ohh, and the drivers in Tbilisi are aggressive, and the cars approach pedestrians too closely. Lastly, Georgian ATMs do not charge a fee and the exchange rates are at market rate. So with my Schwab account, I was able to pull money out completely free. Good and bad as with any city, but I will definitely return to Tbilisi, especially with the 1 year tourist visa and Ryan Air's new routes in Tbilisi.

Moscow is incredible for digital nomads. Lots of coworkings, including WeWork, plenty of bars, and restaurants. Nightlife is awesome - from usual nightclubs to techno spots etc. It is much more safe to there than in other European capitals (London, Berlin, Paris). You only need to be careful with illegal things like cannabis and other drugs because of zero tolerance. People are great, and girls especially. People look unfriendly because they are not smiling to everyone, but it is just because of mentality.
