Best place to stay for a couple of month in Chile?

in Chile by @borowis |  | 3 comments

Hi! I need some advice on where to stay in Chile for a couple of months coming winter (summer in South America)

My personal criteria are:

  • nature close by : ocean/mountains (or better both) for weekend getaways
  • walkable : nice stroll after work: parks, waterfronts etc. will do
  • internet: I can live with 1Mbps up/down and latency around 100ms so even not-too-atrocious mobile 3g will do : )
  • transportation: easy to get to other interesting places (I understand that the easiest place is Santiago, but well, seems like it fails other categories )
  • something for kids: we can do with one playground in town, but life is difficult without any other kids
  • I’m not too worried about coworking places and other digital nomads actually : ) But nice to have

I want this question to be useful to other people as well so I would appreciate any comments really. I found only one topic so far, ‘how was Santiago for digital nomads?’. Let’s give Chile more love (comments).

Thanks, Borys

Any coworking spaces in Colombo, Sri Lanka

in Colombo, Sri Lanka by @borowis |  | 4 comments

Hi there!

I’m staying in Weligama on the coast for a month in a rented house, but I need to spend one day in Colombo because my flight is at night. So, do you know any good place to hang out and work? Maybe a nice coffee shop or a coworking place? I also have my family with me, so if they have some cool attraction nearby (say, park or playground) to spend time at that would add points.

I was only passing through Colombo on my way to the South and it looked to me like a hectic place, so if anyone has firsthand experience that would be awesome.

Kind regards,
Borys

Where are the nomad hot spots in Central and South America?

by @jb510 |  | 106 comments

The last few years I’ve spent mostly in Asia (Thailand/Indonesia) and Europe (Spain/Italy), but I run a company in the US and need to coordinate with 10 US based employees and business partners. The time zone issues between EU/US and SEA/US are exhausting even if I love the locales.

I’d really like to try romping around the Americas for a while, but I’ve never been south of Baja California and really can’t find much positive having been said about remotely working from CA/SA as a DN.

I know some hippy, surfer, artist, musician, yoga teacher types calling various locals home, but no one making a living online… more than a few people have told me it’s fabulous down there until you go to Thailand/Bali and then you wonder why all those ExPats are suffering in CA/SA. Of course you only really know when you go yourself.

I’d love to see nomadlist.io get filled out with more details on Central and South American cities. It seems really sparse coverage at the moment, but maybe that’s simply because it’s not good and no one stays there for long.

What is the best SIM card for Romania?

in Romania by @rmeskill |  | 6 comments

I live in Budapest but have started traveling around a lot through Central/Eastern Europe as a nomad, but I need a local SIM to work-does anyone have any suggestions/advice for the best SIM for Romania? Preferably with lots of data and the option to tether?

Parenting whilst nomads

by @figoshow |  | 13 comments

My wife and I are both nomadic performers traveling the world full time for the last 10 years, we tend to stay in a place for around 3 months then move on. We are about to have our first kid, our main concern is how our kid is going to make friends and build relationships being nomadic, How do you deal with this and help your kids with this aspect of our lifestyle.

What nomads are out there traveling married and/or with a family?

by @danielgenser |  | 37 comments

I’m curious to hear from the nomads out there who are traveling as a married couple (or long term committed couple, no matter). Many of the articles, guides, and tips one reads are understandably written from the single traveler’s perspective (even if they are traveling in a group).

What nomads are out there traveling with a marriage mate and/or family?

What are the nomad hotspots in Eastern Europe (outside Schengen)?

by @emondpph |  | 43 comments

Hi everybody,

In august my Schengen tourist visa will be over. I would like to go 3 months in Eastern Europe, but it needs to be outside of the Schengen area. I would have loved to go to Budapest but because it’s Schengen I can’t…

Frankly, I don’t know Eastern Europe that well. What are the best spots for Digital nomad in this region ? Also, I need a cool co-working space, I don’t like working from my house.

Thanks !
