Introduce yourself — who are you, where are you and what do you do?

by @coffeeshopceo |  | 672 comments

tl;dr: introduce yourself in this thread.

We must all get sick of the same backpacker travel questions when we meet new friends, I know I do.

You know the ones - where are you from, where’ve you been, where are you going, what do you do, how long have you been doing it - etc.

The novelty of answering these questions wears off after maybe a week, but they’re nonetheless insightful and no matter how much we hate them, we find ourselves asking others.

So let’s bring the dreaded backpacker questionnaire to NomadForum and introduce ourselves shall we?

**

  • what’s your name?
  • where are you from?
  • how long have you been away from home?
  • what do you do?
  • where are you currently?
  • where are you going?
  • what has been memorable for you so far?
  • will you go home anytime soon?
  • what have you learnt during your time as a nomad?
  • [insert your own question here]

**

No need to answer them all if you don’t want to
But the more you share… The merrier!

Do I need an onward ticket to enter Bali (in 30 or 60 days?)

by @gonchs |  | 8 comments

I plan to enter Bali for 30 days with visa on arrival and then extend my stay for another 30, making it 60 in total.

Should the date of flight on onward ticket be 30 days after the day of arrival or can it also be in 60 days (30 initial + 30 extension)? My logic is that at the day of arrival, I’ll only have a permission to stay 30 days in the country and not 60, so it would make sense for them to ask me for a proof of a ticket to that date and in not 60 days.

Coworking Camp is coming to Tunisia in November. Are you?

in Tunis, Tunisia by @matthiasezeitler |  | 3 comments

Quite happy to announce that the next Coworking Camp will be in Tunisia from November 2nd till December 13th.

If you haven’t heard or read about Coworking Camp before, it’s a temporary coworking space in a beach resort to escape the European winter. Lot’s of information including some videos from last year and links to various newspaper and blog articles is on our homepage at http://coworking.camp

The final hotel has not been decided yet, but I wanted to make sure everyone is aware early enough (as last year a lot of people told me they learned about it too late to join), plus we have a 35% super early bird discount on the tickets for the next few weeks. (code “iamin”). There are also some volunteer spots left for free tickets in case you want to help organizing the event.

The general idea is to bring a group of about 60 like minded startup founders, digital nomads and freelancers together in a productive environment to make new connections, share experiences and have fun in the winter sun.

I am currently in Tunisia (only for a few more days), but will be in Chiang Mai soon, so please message me if you want to meet in person to learn more about Coworking Camp. Or just have a coffee.

List of latest press mentions on digital nomads

by @taylorbanks |  | 1 comment

Hoping to start a living thread with links to the latest media mentions, blog posts and articles on major and established web sites about the digital nomad lifestyle. I would like to be able to use and reference these when talking with others who are interested in the lifestyle, but who also want established and trusted perspectives on the topic.

To get things started, it seems appropriate to post a link to @jayzus’s excellent post, which has been featured on all the interwebs:

Please help by sharing other recent links, articles or posts in other major journals and publications.
