How do you invest internationally as a nomad?

by @mateuszwieloch |  | 17 comments

I have finally saved enough money to start investing. What company gives good, diversified access to stock, ETFs and mutual funds? Does it make sense to use company like Vanguard or Fidelity for that? I’m a EU/Poland citizen, how would I transfer my money back and forth without incurring significant fees?

Use Uber transportation. I do not recommend to use bike because it is not safe. Traffic is a big problem, so be prepare ahead for your appointments and don’t get stock in the rush hours.

  • Barcelona

Lived in Barcelona for a year and a half. I would agree that the weather is perfect and Barcelona does have a great tech scene as well as food and has everything landscape and lifestyle wise that you could think of. Bureaucracy isn't too bad if you nip it in the bu** early and have patience. Also, some clubs are free. (Jamboree!). The metro is also, very efficient with red and purple being the busiest lines. Very walkable city too. Plenty of opportunity to meet people as well. The beaches are ok

  • Seattle

Seattle is a great city, especially if you like nature, there are plenty of outdoor activities to do all year round. People are generally open-minded and friendly. The cost of living is high but it allows you to be able to afford other places on earth easily if you can find a job here. You can also find plenty of good restaurants and arts around in the city. I recommend to stay at least 3-6 months to get the feel of living a PNW life.

  • Belize City

There is absolutely no reason to stay in Belize City. You're just going to get ripped off by taxis and restaurants (always do the math on your bill). You come to Belize to go to the islands or ruins, not Belize City.

  • Houston

In it's current iteration, Houston is a wide-spread, vehicle dependent city and would be a difficult place to exist as a Nomad without a vehicle. Downtown Houston was once a desolate cluster of office buildings that was abandoned at sundown. But now, downtown is currently undergoing a transformation and will soon (5~ years) make for an inhabitable and nomad friendly destination.

  • Athens

Athens is a great city; much to do! It offers a balance of daily life and nightlife. Rents are extremely reasonable. Two of my colleagues and I decided to live in the northern suburbs near metro stations called Doukisis Plakentias. 15 minute underground ride to Athens centre. Mt. Pentelis which is very nearby offers and great trekking paths and clean air for those who love to be close to nature as well as close to the city. Nice shopping area too, like Halandri. Great restaurants, cafes, etc.,

Its the paradise but getting really expensive! It actually makes sense! I would recomend Fuengirola! Regardles of the fact that is more expensive than Malaga city center. Good luck in la costa del sol. It hepls you if you speak Spanish! You are in Spain! Dont forget that!
