I've been hanging out in Berlin on and off for 30 years. It is very safe for women. It is much friendlier than it used to be. There are loads of vegan restaurants now. The nightlife and specially jazz clubs are amazing! I have an excellent apartment to rent out in Wedding - which used to have a boring reputation but now is very cool.

Lived in Prague for 8 years. It's a beautiful international European city. Never learned Czech, but was fine. Almost all cafes and restaurants have English menus. Superb food delivery apps (Wolt is the best). All the food you can imagine. Vietnamese food is world-class because of the huge Vietnamese population. If you want hipster bars and cafes, there's plenty of that. If you want old-world-charm there's plenty of that. If you want posh luxury there's some of Europes best restaurants and cockta

Chiang Mai has had a deep Buddhist influence running over the last 1,000 years and this can be felt in the helpfulness, patience and generosity of the Thai and long-term transplants you come across. The city has an active community scene (nomads, spiritual seekers, hikers, creatives), several mountains with hiking spots and waterfalls surrounding the city, over 20 water bodies inside the city -- many have cafes and walks around, several public parks, and over 13 national parks with campgrounds w

I've lived here for a year as a solo female expat over 50 (from the US) and I love it more and more every day. There are always events and things to do. I have an large, affordable apartment 20 minutes walking from the city center. I live on $2,000 a month. Before I found my apartment I was a digital nomad here for 4 months and it was challenging. I found some great co-working spaces but the airbnbs I stayed in were sub-par with terrible internet. However, as a resident/expat I have fantasti

Tokyo has so much to offer and so much to do. It is easily overwhelming. Whereas I usually take my first week to explore a place Tokyoโs sights just kept on going. I remember ending up in a hidden cocktail bar, a mexican rooftop party with 1 meter margaritas, spending a whole day going only to French places(?), visiting a store that only imported 2nd hand hiphop apparel, and throughout it all the best michelin star ramen. It just seemed endless, completely unrelated and incredibly fun. Six wee

I liked Dubai. Rents can be decent and offer a lot more compared to Western Countries, spend $1,600 on a Studio for 3 weeks, much better than many developed Western Countries. WiFI speeds are consistent and reliable. Nightlife is amazing but easily the biggest money pit as many places even a bottle of beer goes up to 20 USD. Not a bad place to use as a staging ground to explore the region or take advantage of the well connected airport. Very multi cultural place as well. Just wish the food offer

It is a very woke town, also, loads of yogis whit spiritual businesses that wants to sell you some magic "technique" to improve your life, again if you are not a woke person, this place is not for you. From 2015 to 2019 I have lived in Chania. There were not many expats, mainly older brithisn expats. Some artists, writers etc... Organic shops just starting ,spiritual community just starting.. Few scattered ppl across the west of Crete. This guide is UTTERLY WRONG. $3.300 per month!? You can rent a room as cheap as 200โฌ (erasmus rooms), 1beer costs usually under 2โฌ and has a free 'Tapa' - normally when I go out, with 5โฌ I've eaten and drank enough. Coworkings cost somewhere from 70-120โฌ depending if part time or full time. Then you can go almost anywhere around walking, and by bus to the mountains. Compared to Berlin, the Internet is much faster and cheaper. Simyo has 20โฌ prepaid cards that give you 60GB data x month.

Was there May 2023 for a month. Nice city, great expat group held by Piero/Davide/Angelo. If you are looking for meeting people I really advise to get in touch with them - you can find on FB. Dolce vita with extremely cheap food in restaurants (excellent pizza for less than 5 euros). I found the city very typical and beautiful, the weather was great too. 3 drawbacks in my opinion: - no night club (at this period at least) / big party - only bars. - no beach very close to the city center (closest

I really enjoyed my time here as the city is walkable, very friendly people, good holiday vibe, loads of touristy activities (I could barely fit everything in 2 weeks, prices are high compared to other countries for the same activities). Visited in February of 2019, the week before Carnival. Great time to visit as there were hardly any tourists and only a few other travelers. Downside is a lot of the restaurants aren't open and some tours are shut down. Upside is you get to live like a local in a insanely touristy town 10 months of the year. I was in Neapol recently, the city has a lot of potential, the weather is nice, it is not far away from very nice places like Capri or Ischia. However, the city itself is chaotic, dirty, no traffic rules, I felt more like in SE Asia than in Western Europe. There is not much going on in the city, you can walk the main stuff in half a day. I guess if you're a nomad this doesn't matter much, but the long-term job pickings here are slim and among the most underpaid for a US city. There seems to be a tacit rent floor that means you won't find a good deal on housing. A lot of people don't seem very invested in their interpersonal relationships here since their ties to the area are often transient.
