This city is not for everyone, if you like shopping malls and big crowded cities it is for you. It may be cheap but if you want to live in a good location with swimming pool, go to nice rooftops and restaurants, use taxis then it is similar cost to western countries. In many areas there are no sidewalks, big and dangerous traffic all the time, pollution, taxis do not want to go with meter, it can get really hot. Definitely try to live by the metro. The island is beautiful. Many tourists, especially for overrated Full Moon Party that elevates prices a lot. Roads are in good condition, you would need a scooter to get around, tourists drive very bad and irresponsibly. Wear a helmet! It is not a computer game, do not let the paradise island delude you, there are many accidents. A few places to work from. To get here you need to fly to Samui or Surat Thani and then take a ferry. Been coming to Koh Tao for years, it's an under-rated island IMO. Its small size makes it a great place to stay and remote work from. Lots of great beaches, walking trails, climbing and of course scuba and snorkeling. An amazing selection of restaurants, great coworks and cafes to work from. Being smaller it helps you stay focused, spend less time travelling around etc. I personally have never felt unsafe there and pretty much all the nomads I meet there say the same. Power is much more

Can’t recommend Ubud. It’s just the same overdeveloped and overpriced mentally isolated tourist trap that is Canggu, just a bit worse. If you have never been anywhere else, it might be okay for 2 weeks, but to any seasoned traveller it’s a the type of place you dread.

Lived in Prague for 8 years. It's a beautiful international European city. Never learned Czech, but was fine. Almost all cafes and restaurants have English menus. Superb food delivery apps (Wolt is the best). All the food you can imagine. Vietnamese food is world-class because of the huge Vietnamese population. Absolutely loved it! The largest old city in the country, great souvenir shopping (loads of cat themes, good quality, better souvenirs then Budva and other places), loads of real cats, breathtaking views, very friendly local people, everything is super close. Most streets are uphill, so be ready to get fit!
