Which country is the easiest to get a Self Employed Visa?

by @msurocks99 |  | 4 comments

Dear Digital Nomads,

I am looking for a place where I can get easily a Digital Nomad visa i.e Self Employed VISA

  • Can be any place of the earth, No choice of continents
  • Comparatively decent living costs
  • Less paper work and faster processing
  • Less bank balance requirements, less complicity

Please share with me the locations you prefer for living as a Self- Employed Base. I am from South Asia(Bangladesh), thatโ€™s why Its tough for me to get Visaโ€™s generally for travelling.

Is Singapore a good nomad and business base?

in Singapore by @msurocks99 |  | 11 comments

I am thinking to change my base to Singapore .

I have some queries regarding it,

Hacks of Price of Living : I donโ€™t want to live in hostels where 4/8 persons live in a room, want to live in a room may be in a shared apartment, gym and other facilities would be nice, I am getting in 800 to 1000 SGDโ€™s pretty good Condo rooms, can I turn it down to 500-600 ?

Food : I stayed there for a month recently, so pretty much know the food hacks now, if I am eating at home its cheap and hawkers places are also cheaper.

Howโ€™s it for business Base ?

I run a Software Development Company mostly into building MVPโ€™s for Startups and running extension teams for SMEโ€™s. So I think it will be pretty good for me based in Singapore for finding new opportunities and Client Communications.

What do you think about it and any suggestions would be great.

Remote Jobs for Agile Product Managers/ Project Managers

by @msurocks99 |  | 2 comments

I know its pretty easy for top quality developers to find a remote job and go nomad. I have did development and support kind of stuff for nearly 5 years and it seems this is not something I want to do for long term. So, looking for opportunities mostly into Product Management/ Project Management roles. I have some experience in this sector and I think I will be able to do good in this arena.

But I tried to search every remote job board, couldnโ€™t find any such. So, my question where is the recruiters hiring Remote Product Managers/ Project Managers or they are not up to in remote work for this kind of role.

How hard is it to find a remote job?

by @msurocks99 |  | 11 comments

I have been following nomad list, remotek and other remote job portals and from last two years have been applied to a lot number of remote jobs. Unfortunately none of them replied back me yet :(.

I have CS background with 5 years BI and DB development experience, also I know scrum and other PMO stuff.
I am looking for roles including remote PMO office and also I can do high end tech support stuff too. Sorry for the self-promotion but I have applied to more than 200+ oppโ€™s but unfortunately no one of them returned back to me why is that? I am planning to start my travelling life from last few years and this is the only thing is stopping me to do that.

Best

I have 3 questions: savings, home base and what's in your backpack?

by @msurocks99 |  | 5 comments

I am based in Dhaka, Bangladesh and I am planning to start my nomad life later December. I was preparing before that.

I had some burning decisions to be made before that.

Savings : How much you need to have savings before starting your nomad life and how much will be enough and constant and easily accessible to everywhere I mean mode keeping the money i.e Cash or Banks

Home Base: Do you guys have a home back and do you come back there in a routine period such as every month or so.

And Whatโ€™s in your backpack: I need a extra 23 inch monitor for work otherwise I donโ€™t feel comfortable, I am thinking ways to fit in my backpack, what is the common size of your bags and do you carry a lot luggage, usually picking luggage takes a lot time and a lot hassle too. I prefer only backpacking and hand luggage thatโ€™s why.

Would you please suggest and share your experiences with me.

Best

Shihab

Introduce yourself โ€” who are you, where are you and what do you do?

by @coffeeshopceo |  | 672 comments

tl;dr: introduce yourself in this thread.

We must all get sick of the same backpacker travel questions when we meet new friends, I know I do.

You know the ones - where are you from, whereโ€™ve you been, where are you going, what do you do, how long have you been doing it - etc.

The novelty of answering these questions wears off after maybe a week, but theyโ€™re nonetheless insightful and no matter how much we hate them, we find ourselves asking others.

So letโ€™s bring the dreaded backpacker questionnaire to NomadForum and introduce ourselves shall we?

**

  • whatโ€™s your name?
  • where are you from?
  • how long have you been away from home?
  • what do you do?
  • where are you currently?
  • where are you going?
  • what has been memorable for you so far?
  • will you go home anytime soon?
  • what have you learnt during your time as a nomad?
  • [insert your own question here]

**

No need to answer them all if you donโ€™t want to
But the more you shareโ€ฆ The merrier!

Has anyone participated in remote work programs like Remote Year or Hacker Paradise?

by @whereskristin |  | 23 comments

I am interested if anyone in the Forum has participated in one of these โ€œRemote Yearโ€ style trips around the world. I see that many are popping up for 2016 as well and have not launched yet but there are probably a few ongoing that arenโ€™t on the below list.

Some examples are:

I definitely see the benefits (community, logistics, adventure, creative inspiration, etc) but Iโ€™m just interested in peopleโ€™s feedback overall. There doesnโ€™t seem to be much info online from actual participants and their feedback. For instance:

What has been your experience overall?

Do you prefer this type of group travel over traveling alone or with 1-2 other people?

What are the pros and cons?

How professional and organized are the companies offering these services?

Do people drop out?

Would you do it again?

What is what you expected?

Did you save time/money?

Was it a better overall experience than being a regular Digital Nomad?

What are accommodations like?

Is it worth the premium price?

What would you change/improve about the experience?

Any other feedback?

Etc.
