  • Quito

beautiful city, lovely people and culture, prices are affordable, but not that safe in general. The crime has been rising in Quito. Wouldn't recommend staying in the historic area if you want to go out at night (because most locals won't leave their houses once it's dark due to crime, especially important for women to note this). In the daytime, relatively okay to walk around but i wouldn't recommend taking a computer to a coffee shop (it's not that type of city and would raise eyebrows). I recommend dressing down and not wearing jewelry and taking uber if you need to get around. Knowing some Spanish will get you by further. If you're looking for nightlife you can check out the Zona Rosa which is pretty safe at night and is a good place to stay if you want to go out at night. Meals on average are $2 for a full plate of food juice and dessert. The safest neighborhood to stay in is near the park La Carolina which is might as well be an entirely different city (this is basically the "rich area" but is nice to stay at because you can also go out here at night and be safe). Also this area tends to have more modern apartments available on AIRBNB with aircon/heating/internet that sort of thing. InaQuito/Baton are the safest neighborhoods for nomads.

All those saying Dublin is boring need a reality check, it has an amazing nightlife with incredibly friendly people. I agree a lot of the scores are way off but its true that it is ridiculously expensive especially for accommodation.

Parisians tend to be rude and arrogant. The city is nice but there are much nicer places in other parts of France. Also the people make no effort to speak english 80% of the time so do bring a french/english dictionary

  • Glasgow

Just moved to Glasgow a year ago. Yes, weather is humid, grey, rainy, everyday (almost). BUT the people are great, the city is full of charm and vibrant. It is very authentic and doesn't have many tourists. The accent is awesome. It's cheaper than most important cities in UK. The post-industrial style is so interesting too ! I 'm in love with Glasgow.

  • Edinburgh

Edinburgh is one of my favourite places in the world. I've lived here for a few months twice now, but unfortunately the nomad scene isn't great. If you're looking for a nice spot that's super walkable, has lots of parks/green space, and isn't too expensive, Edinburgh is great! If you're looking for great coworking spaces or to meet lots of other nomads, Edinburgh currently isn't the place to do that.

  • Cartagena

I was there for one week and stayed in Bocagrande, about a 10 minute taxi ride from the Walled City. Pros of Cartagena: Inexpensive locale, reliable and fast internet, good weather (if you like it hot), not terribly crowded (aside from Walled City), beauty/history/nightlife of Walled City. Cons: Local beaches are average at best and riddled with vendors who accost visitors non-stop, street vendors are less pushy but everywhere, fluency in Spanish is very helpful (not really a con, just is), Walled City is loaded with tourists and priced accordingly. Cartagena struck me as a one-trick pony like a Las Vegas. Some people love Vegas because of the weather and the entertainment. Cartagena has the weather and the Walled City. Unfortunately even though its a coastal city, it's tough to enjoy the beach.

  • Palma

Pretty racist to those that arent white, you feel unwelcome, locals stare at you like your alien, you get served last even when your 1st in line, you get ignored and when you walk into a shop you get followed around because the workers think your going to steal something. However for white people im sure Palma is great.
