As a local, born and bred Joburger, I can tell you that there is a lot to love about this city if you know where to look. For the most part, it's orientated around suburbian living. The main city (Johannesburg CBD) is for the most part a no-go because of crime, but if you know some locals you should definitely check it out there are amazing restaurants, theatres and museums to experience there. Lived here three years. On the plus side the people are friendly and the women are beautiful. The urban area is huge but all the action takes place in a fairly small central area. On the minus side, there are very few parks or green spaces. There aren't many attractions or cool things to do in the city. People's leisure time is mostly spent drinking in roadside bars.

For a European capital, there's not much to do. It's extremely overpriced for what it offers. Did not find the locals nearly as friendly as sources say. Food is very meh. Grocery stores are disorganized and everything close to expiry. You will have to beg and compete to find a dump of an apartment for under $2,000 euro/month. I stayed in Poblenou, which is a really chill upcoming area outside of the tourism of Barcelona. Really enjoyed it. Very tranquil. People were relatively friendly compared to most in Europe and there was lots of nice food and coffee places. Also pretty okay gyms. Really enjoyed Barcelona this time! Just make sure you stay outside the tourist areas.

_____TLDR: If you value comfort, don't go to Argentina._____ I stayed for 6 months and, tbh, was really happy to leave. The main problem was that I didn't feel safe, especially at night (nothing happened to me though). I don't think the city is beautiful, yes it has some interesting architecture, especially modernist buildings, but the city itself was organized in an odd way, so it mostly has narrow streets and sidewalks, and latter are covered with dog shit or homeless people stuff.
