How to find a job in Argentina or Brazil?

in Argentina by @podviaznikov |  | 9 comments

Whatโ€™s the best way to find a designer or developer job for one year in Argentina or Brazil?

Iโ€™m thinking about traveling super slow - 1 year per country.

What would be the best strategy to find full-time work in South America (Argentina, Brazil, Chile)?

Anyone did something similar?

Where are the nomad hot spots in Central and South America?

by @jb510 |  | 106 comments

The last few years Iโ€™ve spent mostly in Asia (Thailand/Indonesia) and Europe (Spain/Italy), but I run a company in the US and need to coordinate with 10 US based employees and business partners. The time zone issues between EU/US and SEA/US are exhausting even if I love the locales.

Iโ€™d really like to try romping around the Americas for a while, but Iโ€™ve never been south of Baja California and really canโ€™t find much positive having been said about remotely working from CA/SA as a DN.

I know some hippy, surfer, artist, musician, yoga teacher types calling various locals home, but no one making a living onlineโ€ฆ more than a few people have told me itโ€™s fabulous down there until you go to Thailand/Bali and then you wonder why all those ExPats are suffering in CA/SA. Of course you only really know when you go yourself.

Iโ€™d love to see nomadlist.io get filled out with more details on Central and South American cities. It seems really sparse coverage at the moment, but maybe thatโ€™s simply because itโ€™s not good and no one stays there for long.

How to get US visa outside home country?

by @ibobriakov |  | 6 comments

Hi guys!
Iโ€™m originally from Ukraine and now traveling through SEA.
And I was thinking about potential possibility to apply for US visa in any of South East Asian countries.
Does anyone has successful experience of getting US visa in SEA region?
Or maybe it is not possible and I have to apply from my home country?
(for example, friend of mine from Ukraine tried to apply for South Korean visa in Bangkok, but they refused to do so and asked him to apply for the visa from Ukraine)

Thanks in advance!

How is Croatia as a destination for digital nomads?

in Croatia by @jbroomeresearch |  | 40 comments

Iโ€™m thinking of spending August-October in Europe; Berlin was a strong contender, but Iโ€™m hearing good stuff about Zagreb. Anyone have any experiences (good or bad) to share?

How is Istanbul for digital nomads?

in Istanbul, Turkey by @theunisk |  | 13 comments

Iโ€™m soon heading out on my first solo international trip as a remote worker.
Iโ€™m thinking of starting in Istanbul mid June, and slowly making my way up
north, staying a month or so in cities along the way.

Have any of you stayed in Istanbul for a couple of weeks or longer? Anyone there now?
For accommodation there seems to be some options on airbnb.

  • Which areas are good and which are best avoided?
  • Are there any useful local sites?
  • Would it be worth booking a place for a couple of nights and trying to find a good deal on the ground?
  • What would a good rate be for a room or small apartment for a one month stay?

A lot of questions here, Iโ€™d appreciate any bits of advice you can share!

Recommendations for the Balkans starting in April?

by @wanderingdev |  | 23 comments

Iโ€™m in Spain now and heading to Italy in March for a conference, but I want to head to cheaper pastures after that while still being in Europe. I want to be relatively warm so I want to stay as far south as possible. Iโ€™ve not spent any time in the Balkans so Iโ€™d love some recommendations. I am eventually planning on settling in Croatia for a bit, but probably not until itโ€™s warmer so Iโ€™m looking at the southern countries. Maybe Albania?

I need: Access to decent speed internet that is reliable, especially up speeds because I have to call the US regularly. A mid-sized city so I have access to restaurants and bars and a decent gym, but nothing too crazy. A reasonably priced apartment in the city center that has a good kitchen since I like to cook. Good public transit network so I can explore the city/country on weekends.

Iโ€™m a US citizen, if that matters.

Thanks for any recommendations!

Been living here in Buenos Aires for almost three years. Right now, it's (relatively) cheap. I mean, it isn't for the people who currently lives here but it's if you're a foreign, as the inflation keeps going on the peso isn't that worthy now. But, as I'm saying, if you come with dollars is going to make a huge difference. (3 years ago: 20 pesos= 1 USD. June 2020: 95 pesos= 1 USD. and if you're selling dollars in the informal market they will pay you $124. and with that you can buy two small

I've been in Kiev on and off since 2016. A nice city in summer. Walkable. Beaches. Nature. Interesting, cultured people. Great restaurant scene. 30 degrees and sunny isn't uncommon. In winter it's a harsh place to live - the city's infrastructure (water, heating, roads) can't handle it. Lots of coworking spaces and good cafes. Many talented, low-priced freelancers available to hire. The Airbnbs in the city are generally awful - either filled with ancient Soviet furniture or ugly, cheap modern

Berlin is overall a great city to be. Food is cheap and everywhere, easy to go out and have fun/meet for business. Rent has crept up but still far better value than where I came from. Internet: 36 EUR/month get me 450/40 mbps (cable -> DOCSIS 3.0) Public transport is 2.70 EUR/ticket. No woman I know has said they felt unsafe. Some really odd, xenophobic sounding comments on here. Biggest downsides IMO: service quality at restaurants - not that people are rude, but they don't seem to particular

Super fun and beautiful city. I find Parisians are actually very patient and warm if you at least attempt to speak French; in my experience, most people who complain that they're rude are the ones making zero effort to speak the language. Expensive though and not very easy to meet other nomads.

This place is a total gem! Bali/Thailand vibes + close to US. Also am impressed with their covid policies - not as much mask wearing, but I get an instant no-hassle temperature check virtually every place I go, which is so much smarter than stupid curfews, closures, and quarantine theater I dealt with in the US every day.
