Paris is wonderful, and I love it here, but the stereotypes some real truth to them. I stepped off the plane to a protest, my airbnb host was incredibly stylish yet didn't wear deoderant, and I met the rudest waiter I've ever encountered in my entire life on day 3 (though most Parisians are super nice!)

  • Austin

All in, Austin is a good city. We live in Hill Country now so we're a bit removed. But it's beautiful area once you get away from the highways. A good tech scene. Not too expensive (~$2100 for a nice 2 bedroom apt) for the U.S. Has wineries and breweries galore. Not a great place if you are a recovering alcoholic (!). Cons: extremely hot in the summer; reaches 110 F (43.3 C) in summer afternoons from June - September. Not very diverse. Highways are loud and obnoxious.

  • Nice

Paris had originally disappointed me as a traveler, but if you have some proficiency with French, you should definitely come and visit Nice or any other place outside of the big cities in France as there will be more genuine people along with some history and cultural foods you can try.

I have only been to a couple of digital nomad spots around the world, but I must say I have been disappointed with PDC for several reasons. I am a coworking space kind of girl and even though there are a few here, they are all not great. Especially if you compare them to the spaces in Bali Canggu/Ubud for example. In PDC it was all about choosing the lesser „evil“ for me. They are okay, but I didn‘t feel the same community vibes or very inspired in these places. The choices of healthy foo

I grew up in Chicago and still return fairly often. I love the character of the different neighborhoods, the variety of architectural styles, and as others have said, the food scene is incredible. It's easy to make friends in the suburbs, perhaps not so much in the city itself. I have never witnessed racial tension here, and have been pleasantly surprised by the interracial friendliness I have observed. There are a wonderful selection of forests and parks just about everywhere, and the museu
