โจ Recommended destinations they haven't been
This is an algorithmic recommendation based on @robinsteyvers's trips history to find places they haven't been to yet that other people with similar travels also went and liked.

Pros - extremely cheap (excl. housing), great transportation system (both subway and busses), great pastry shops Cons - expensive airbnbs, rude people who can be fairly racist towards blacks (worldcup was a tough time given how openly people were cursing about black people in bars and home get togethers I went to) and other south americans (weird superiority complex), a tad depressing given the current economic crises (almost everyone is going through a rough time so it is difficult to enjoy yo

I agree so much with this review from 11 months ago. "A city right out of a dystopian novel" - that's what I was thinking on the way to the Airport after spending just a week in Bangkok. A city right out of a dystopian novel - soulless and cynical. The air is polluted and no trees are in sight. Its inhabitants manipulative and cold-hearted - hidden behind fake smiles. A Disney Land for senile retirees. Everything is for sale and nothing has value. The streets are filled with rats - both human o

If you have money, stay in Lomas. That's it. The other areas of the city which every Samantha, Bryan, and pink-haired person named Leaf have mentioned are all worth visiting and enjoying, but just stay in Lomas. Quiet, less population, no dust, and most importantly, you can avoid the broke Americans from Bushwick or WeHo who eat at Orinoco every night to save money.

Lisbon is not a fairytale of fine words, try the bureaucratic reality later tell me something, always remember the natives just want your money if you don't have it they are not there for you

I love Laureles which is calmer, lots of tress, great restaurants. I don't like Poblado which is noisier, more polluted and more party.

I really liked Chiang Mai but I can't put my finger on why. I'll try to remain unbiased so here goes. Chiang Mai is a dirty place with horrible pollution levels. English speaking is okay. I did really enjoy a balance of simple, risk-free living at low cost and acceptable quality of living. Many places only accept cash but plenty accept card. There's lots to do and it's fun exploring on a moped/motorbike. It feels as easy as Canggu with more modern appointments to get by as a westerner a bit easi

I've been hanging out in Berlin on and off for 30 years. It is very safe for women. It is much friendlier than it used to be. There are loads of vegan restaurants now. The nightlife and specially jazz clubs are amazing! I have an excellent apartment to rent out in Wedding - which used to have a boring reputation but now is very cool.

Taxis in Istanbul are a big problem even for locals. Public transport is convenient and comfortable. If you need to call a taxi, I recommend using an app. "Bitaksi" can be used. Agree with the taxi driver using google translate and negotiate in advance if necessary. Always make public transportation your first choice. There are millions of refugees in this city against a registered population of 15 million. A significant number of asylum seekers do not have any registered documents and this cre

Stayed for 5 days in Tulum in March 2023, here are a few things to consider. -The Pros are: there a ton of very solid accommodations for ~$50 per night on a short term basis (1BR apartment, pool, etc.). You can get it down even further with a longer term commitment. It feels like there is a growing nomad community, but it's more of NYC/LA types than down to earth vagabonds. There are a bunch of great restaurants that cater to the health conscious and gyms to check out. There are some very posh

Touristy circus of a place. Everyone is trying to rip you off... even as fluent Spanish speaker. Check out PV or anywhere west coast instead.

San Cristobal is more suitable for vacation and backpackers. It is complicated to find a good wifi and mobile internet connection, but there are some coworkings. Didnโt like the town itself - too much traffic for such a small place, not to mention that a lot of tourists got food poisoned from food/water, but itโs worth visiting because of marvellous nature of Chiapas

I've stayed in Merida for about 1 month during winter. I really enjoyed the Merida fest which take place during the month of January. I felt very safe in this city and people are very friendly. There are plenty of cafes in Centro where you can work and the internet is quite good. Overall, it's a great place to be and I would see myself stay for a long time.

I stayed in Rotterdam for about a week in early 2022. It's an interesting city, but not very large. A local could show you the best parts in a day or two. I found it to be somewhat expensive. I think it's more geared toward business, so unless you have something specific to take care of, there's no reason to go back.
