Isla Mujeres

30ยฐC 86ยฐF
Mexico

My experience with Isla Mujeres has been that itโ€™s so close to Cancun that it gets a lot of that tourism. And a lot of the infra here caters to that. The beach clubs on Playa Norte and Playa Centro are just as crowded during the day as youโ€™d see in Cancun. Also, there's zero snorkeling from shore. Iโ€™ve had a good experience because I met some local expats who took me under their wing and showed me good spots, but I think if I were on my own and trying to separate the touristy-stuff from the great local hangs, I wouldโ€™ve had a different experience.

Last bit of ski season out in Denver. Loveland is the best mountain! Cheap midweek season tickets, no crowds, good variety, huge mountain, and no resorts = low tourists and low lift waits.

I was there in November 2017. The people are very friendly, great restraunts on the sea front board walk, and as a diver great access to the great Barrier Reef. Either a train or cable car ride from the town station will take you up into the largest tended an cultivated tropical rain forest in the world. If you like life free and easy beautiful Cairns is for you.

Extremely friendly and welcoming locals, and world-class scuba diving. The high cost of living and low walkability make George Town a poor fit for most digital nomads. Ideal situation would be to get a short-term gig from an employer that offers housing and a car. There's a good mix of tourists and professionals, good internet, and beautiful beaches.

I really enjoyed my trip to DC for one week. I did NOT feel comfortable walking around many places alone because there are a lot of mentally ill/drugged out people. During daylight with other people I felt fine. There are soo many restaurants, interesting boutique gyms, cool libraries and more. The variety you can find in DC is closer to NYC than you can find most places. The memorials are pretty cool. There are a lot of free museums which are impressive. I liked the Lincoln Memorial/Gettysburg

For a European capital, there's not much to do. It's extremely overpriced for what it offers. Did not find the locals nearly as friendly as sources say. Food is very meh. Grocery stores are disorganized and everything close to expiry. You will have to beg and compete to find a dump of an apartment for under $2,000 euro/month. Maybe quality of life is better in the suburbs, but the city centre and surrounding area is not an attractive place to live. Overall, just avoid. For a similar price, you

  • New York City

I've lived in New York City - Brooklyn - for over 20 years. For visiting tourists, the best neighborhood to stay in is NOT Bushwick. Park Slope, Prospect Heights, Ft. Green or Brooklyn Heights is preferable. Plenty of good transportation in those areas - subway, buses or Uber. Easy access to beaches in Long Island and New Jersey. There's plenty to do in NYC. Great restaurants, Broadway plays (!), and in the summer you frequently can catch a free concert.
