I’m planning to go to Asuncion to work from there, but unfortunately Paraguay doesn’t seem to be a very popular nomad destination (maybe because of the lack of beaches) so it’s kind of hard to find good info on it. Has somebody been there? How was the infrastructure to work on, mainly the internet connections and the reliability of power? I don’t really require high internet speed, but I’m concerned about the connections going down from time to time.

First of all, to acquire permanent residency in Paraguay you need to deposit 25 million Guarani with the central bank (around 4400$US). You need a few other documents such as a criminal background check, birth certificate etc.
You need to fly there and apply in person (on your own or with the help of a local immigration attorney). You can complete the whole process in a few days but I recommend spending a month in town just to make sure.
A few months later you receive your ID card (cedula) and voila, you are a PR.
That being said, you can’t become a citizen easily. The only way at the moment is to spend three years IN the country and prove significant local ties (a local business, a wife/husband, lots of friends etc).
I wrote an article on the subject a few months ago:
You’ll lose the citizenship if you don’t live in Paraguay for 3 years, right? Argentinian citizenship, on the other hand, can never be lost (or got rid of).
Why do you want a second passport? As an american citizen you would still have trouble with taxes everywhere and a paraguayan passport is not that good. Far better passports are from Chile, Argentina and Uruguay…
richardh: The sites you provided are pure ripoffs. There is no such program that requires USD25k deposit. Feel free to check the official immigration website.
“Paraguay also has a relatively inexpensive second passport process where you can become a permanent resident when you put $25,000 in a bank account (which can be withdrawn) and go through an application process we would be happy to assist you with. After 3 years of permanent residency, one can apply for a second passport.”http://flagtheory.com/passports
Porto Alegre (POA) is a city brimming with beautiful Nature. Trees and birds galore. Unfortunately, there is much wasted potential where historical architecture and intelligent zoning are concerned. I've traveled throughout Brazil and lived in Sao Paulo, and I can attest that POA has the best food hands down. Customer service is top notch, and the shopping is good. Love the vintage stores and antique shops too. Sunsets on the lake are a treasure. Gauchos are the most "talkative" people I've ev

One of the best places in Brazil. Beaches, hiking trails, connection with other Brazilian cities by air and the flights are not that expensive. I stayed there in April-June. No tourists, prices go down, everything is calm. Definitely it's the best in shoulder season (March-April or October-November). It can be noisy and pricey in the summer. People very friendly like everywhere in Brazil. I rented a studio room for 350$ in a nice quiet neighbourhood in 2019.

Been living here in Buenos Aires for almost three years. Right now, it's (relatively) cheap. I like São Paulo, but I don't love it. It's pretty boring in my opinion. Probably because I love Buenos Aires so much and it just does not compare. Also for the 4 months (September - January) I was there, it was cold, overcast, and rainy 85% of the days. It was pretty depressing! Other than that, it's pretty safe overall for Latin America. Also, I really appreciate how people here take COVID more seriously than in a lot of other places in Brazil. If I had to do it again, I would stay near

Nothing does a better job of explaining LA’s beautiful diversity and different neighborhoods than the documentary about the late Jonathan Gold, our city’s greatest amabassador and the only food critic to ever win a Pulitzer Prize. It is called, “City of Gold” and if you want to know LA, just watch this film. Trailer link: https://youtu.be/DmKTRDfz1zM

I was here for a month. Rio is a beautiful and vibrant city. There's a lot of icons to see. There's great food and the beach is right there. In my, experience the pandemic hasn't impacted the city much. Bars and clubs are still open. I usually go out to Leblon, Ipanema, Lapa, and Barra da Tijuca. However, it can definitely be a dangerous city if you're being careless. About 10% of the people I've met had an incident there. I was mugged once walking home one night after the clubs in Ipanema, an

Been in Kiev for 6 months at this point. Apartments are abysmal, an amazing combination of expensive and low quality. That said, cafes, restaurants, co working spaces are top tier, for 1/3 of the price of anywhere else. Kiev is a diamond in the rough in Eastern Europe in that regard. Regarding the people, you have super-friendly young people, and more macho-type tough demographic. You can usually tell who is who and avoid accordingly. Language barrier is quite a challenge, some of the worst in E

Everything (and everyone haha) seems to be old. Not a kind of place to have fun and enjoy. Food is great, but pricey — you can find the same or even better for a cheaper price in Buenos Aires. Legalization of marijuana isn’t something good to celebrate in my opinion and just created a weird environment. There are better places to go.

I was there for one week and stayed in Bocagrande, about a 10 minute taxi ride from the Walled City. Pros of Cartagena: Inexpensive locale, reliable and fast internet, good weather (if you like it hot), not terribly crowded (aside from Walled City), beauty/history/nightlife of Walled City. Cons: Local beaches are average at best and riddled with vendors who accost visitors non-stop, street vendors are less pushy but everywhere, fluency in Spanish is very helpful (not really a con, just is),

I guess if you're a nomad this doesn't matter much, but the long-term job pickings here are slim and among the most underpaid for a US city. There seems to be a tacit rent floor that means you won't find a good deal on housing. A lot of people don't seem very invested in their interpersonal relationships here since their ties to the area are often transient.

I've lived in New York City - Brooklyn - for over 20 years. For visiting tourists, the best neighborhood to stay in is NOT Bushwick. Park Slope, Prospect Heights, Ft. Green or Brooklyn Heights is preferable. Plenty of good transportation in those areas - subway, buses or Uber. Easy access to beaches in Long Island and New Jersey. There's plenty to do in NYC. Great restaurants, Broadway plays (!), and in the summer you frequently can catch a free concert.

It's great if you're woke, young & artsy. If you're just a regular guy in your 30's with no connections, you'll have a miserable time. Especially during the pandemic. It's not inexpensive and you get offered cocaine every 200 meters in the city center.

Lived in Barcelona for a year and a half. I would agree that the weather is perfect and Barcelona does have a great tech scene as well as food and has everything landscape and lifestyle wise that you could think of. Bureaucracy isn't too bad if you nip it in the bu** early and have patience. Also, some clubs are free. (Jamboree!). The metro is also, very efficient with red and purple being the busiest lines. Very walkable city too. Plenty of opportunity to meet people as well. The beaches are ok

Super fun and beautiful city. I find Parisians are actually very patient and warm if you at least attempt to speak French; in my experience, most people who complain that they're rude are the ones making zero effort to speak the language. Expensive though and not very easy to meet other nomads.

Housing is an issue (so cost of living is high) but the city is beautiful and summer in Amsterdam is hard to beat with all the cultural activiies and music festivals. Would not want to live in the actual city center (inside the "grachtengordel") but have been living in East for over 2 years now and aside from the price (and size) of apartment life is just good here. Biking everywhere is bliss. Winter can be cold though.

Berlin is overall a great city to be. Food is cheap and everywhere, easy to go out and have fun/meet for business. Rent has crept up but still far better value than where I came from. Internet: 36 EUR/month get me 450/40 mbps (cable -> DOCSIS 3.0) Public transport is 2.70 EUR/ticket. No woman I know has said they felt unsafe. Some really odd, xenophobic sounding comments on here. They say you get what you pay for. After having traveled the previous 4 months in India, Cambodia, VietNam, Myanmar and Thailand, Singapore was so easy! The subway system is a marvel, streets signs were easy to read, everyone speaks English (that just makes it easy for me as an English speaker) it is safe, clean, and parks are gorgeous. Don't believe the prices on here for an apartment. 686 usd/month refers to an apartment in a high class condo, right in the city centre and seconds away from the BTS(train station). Just remember this, people working at supermarkets make 2 usd/per hour. If you want to live like a local, then you can save a lot of money. If you don't mind a 5-10 minute walk from the BTS, then you can easily get a one bedroom apartment for 300 USD per month, in a high class condo, plus with free golf cart ser

Only thing to add is that in general Saigon has terrible walkability. I love Saigon, lived there for 3 years. But motorbikes are always parked on the sidewalks so you constantly have to step onto the road which is a little hair raising. And if it's not motorbikes then there are restaurant tables scattered across the pavement. Plus the pavement is almost always cracked. I'm a pretty chill person. Values shown are estimated visits by traveling remote workers based on the total amount of trips logged by Nomad List members. Visits to a place are only counted once per year per user, even if they visit more in that year. Not all nomads are on Nomad List, and not all Nomad List members log their trips. So the data is only somewhat indicative.
