Hey all, any experiences with staying in Tunisia? How is it safety wise for a woman?
hi i always stay one or two months a year in tunisia and i like it so far. ive met couple of women during nightlife and they were enjoying their stay
lporat 3mo
thanks for the answer! what sites do you use to book accommodations? how is public transportation?
i have a house and a car here.
but i know friends who use bolt, its like uber. its very cheap. 10km costs around 5$.
bus and metro are much cheaper than that
rene 3mo
Iโ€™ve only been in Tunis once. Canโ€™t speak for women obviously, but I felt pretty safe. Walked around a lot in Carthage too. People were really friendly ๐Ÿ™‚

Planning a trip to Namibia in December, how was it and would you share any local contacts?:ok_hand:thanks in advance
majariusz 3mo
Hiya, planning a trip to Nairobi, could you share any advice also if you could add me to WhatsApp groups would be amazing grinok_hand
majariusz 3mo
How was Tanzania??
iywmdzigmpm where are you visiting in Nam? I spent 4 months there last winter and a few friends are going back november - feb this year.

I created a whatsapp group but wonโ€™t let me share the link hereโ€ฆ
majariusz 3mo
I don't have a location picked yet. Also I saw some interesting and frightening flood vids from last December. Is it really that bad in rain season?? Feb sounds more sensible haha
It can be! we had a river through our back yard and flooded swimming poolโ€ฆ! it was a combination of house being poorly maintained so water didnโ€™t flow where it should, and weather being very dry previously so water just runs off. It hardly ever rains, but when it does - itโ€™s 3 hours of craziness. But it is very unlikely to effect you.

โ€˜rain seasonโ€™ just means one or two days a month.

Jan-March is very quiet but April begins to increase and everything is more green.

Heading to Tunis in Nov, any whatsapp groups there? Recomendations?
Still here ๐Ÿ˜Š Will be working here now for a year, just doing a bit of traveling. Anything specific I can help you with?
Hi, sorry have not seen your question! Honestly, Njombe is not to recommend for a DN. Power outages and spotty internet, no community and nothing to do in the evenings. I was there with a company but there are more interesting places in TZ. I am in Dar now, a whole different city life here!
majariusz 3mo
Going to Tunis in November with my partner, would apprish any contacts or tips ๐Ÿคฉ
vike27 3mo
Send me a message on instagram once you arrive and I can forward you my research, etc www.instagram.com/javier_noris/ or we can meet up if our trips sync up.
majariusz 3mo
How do you find a good accommodation? Ok maybe Jan or Feb is a better time to visit. How was it staying long term (more than a mo th is long term for me lol)? Any whatsapp groups you could share or tips? partying_face
Yay! Dar is amazing, thanks for sharing the insight into Njombe ๐Ÿ˜„

Iโ€™d recommend to see Carthage and the Medina. Also, Star Wars was filmed there, if youโ€™re interested in that
dnxjwtxhynckyzldu some recommendations for weekend trips? I've done the serengeti, ngorongoro and tarangire national parks.

I have the same questions as to any unknown location :) how do you rent, where would you recommend to live, what's the logistics like, any don'ts?
wqbakqbdwltkw I would def start with Zanzibar then! Also soon it is season for swimming with whale sharks at Mafia island, Nov is the best time I hear!
jmqdqhqitcs sorry I canโ€™t really say about renting - my client company fixed this for me. I am in Dar and I enjoy it, but where to live depends totally on what you like and dislike ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ Logistics i mostly use Uber for bajajis (like tuk tuks) and cars if I go longer way or want my hair to stay in place ๐Ÿ˜‚ Bodas i e motorbike taxis are popular but I would not advise them in Dar, the traffic is dangerous. Donโ€™ts - same as any other big city, maybe addition of not walking too much after dark. Not only because of getting robbed or smth but very much because of traffic, there are basically no streetlights and the African night is black ๐Ÿ˜„

Iโ€™ll go to Kenya in December. Any nomads around?
Great country, spent two years working remotely there in Mombasa.

It sucks that we just missed each other. I left in June and now I am in Ghana.

Safe and fun travels

Hello everyone! Iโ€™m in the process of planning my upcoming trip to `Kenya`. My flight lands in Nairobi in mid-November, and Iโ€™m still deciding on the duration of my stay and whether to explore the coastal cities. Iโ€™d love to hear some suggestions and hear your experiences!

To simplify, I like to live in places where restaurants and grocery stores are within walking distance, and outdoor activities are accessible. Iโ€™m not very interested in coffee shops or clubs, and itโ€™s worth noting that I wonโ€™t have a driverโ€™s license, so car-dependent cities might pose some challenges for me.

Hey, anyone have Airbnb recos for Dar Es Salam ๐Ÿ‡น๐Ÿ‡ฟ ? Looking to stay for a month in 2024. Any recos of neighborhoods, areas to check out, places to go, would be much appreciated.
I've stayed at this www.airbnb.com/rooms/584448939603811981?guests=1&adults=1&s=67&unique_share_id=fd419b69-f7c7-450c-ba7a-27189b1a3d1a|one and can highly recommend it. It's a shared house with an amazing local from Dar, in the embassy row (literally two houses away from the Swedish ambassador's home) + walking distance to the beach.

seems to work fine on my side. here's a link to my profile, you can find it under my reviews www.airbnb.co.za/users/show/9890956
Anyone know where I could watch Rugby Final at JKIA in Nairobi? I have a layover there on Saturday evening.
isoyjes 2mo
Oh I see, the link doesn't work, maybe because it's your private link? But she mentioned something about closing the Airbnb temporarily so that's why I may not be seeing it on her profile. Thank you for the help!

Off topic, but how long have you been in Mauritius and how are you finding it?
samuell 1mo
We had a great time in Oyster Bay. Not crowded but you have many options for restaurants and can walk around.
Masaki is also very nice but way more expensive.

Kisutu (the old center) had bad internet problems while I was staying there 3 years ago
Iโ€™ve been here for two months and Iโ€™m enjoying more than i thought i would tbh! Been doing lots of hikes, snorkeling (the corals bleached tho) and just chilling on the beaches!
kyleza 1mo
Thats epic! Have you found the cost of living to be similar to what nomadlist says - or is it more/less?
๐Ÿ›ฌ cuslmueujkish just arrived in Paje,Tanzania, #africa
Iโ€™ve seen that you were in CPT at some point. My cost of living in MRU is similar to the one i had there! Which is lesser than what is displayed on nomadlist!

Hi everyone,
I just arrived for two weeks in Marrakech. Not nomading, just vacation. But I thought surely some people here can recommend me the best non-touristic places raised_handsskin-tone-3 We're also going to drive from Marrakech to Agadir and Taghazout. Would love to hear any tips along this route or the mountains nearby! ๐Ÿ˜

Obviously check out the marrakech markets while you're in the city, it's actually a national holiday today so it's be pretty lively. As for the surrounding areas, I'm not a big booked tour person but the atlas mountains paragliding tour is an awesome day trip. Agadir's a great time and same with paradise valley while you're over there. You can make the trek to ouarzazarte(?) if you want to see a pretty cool old town and a few movie studios, but personally I don't think it's worth it unless you're looking for more to do in the 2 weeks. Merzouga is a decent 3 day trip to see the desert (much better than agafay), but lots of driving to get there so imo also not worth it but again look at pics and decide for yourself. Lastly if you're here for 2 weeks Essaouira is a cool fishing port and not overly touristy, hostel la smala has a cool rooftop overlooking the wall from game of thrones if you go there.
jenruvolo 1mo
Hi Josh! i just got here on Sunday. If you are up for a drink or coffee let me know!

Thanks for the tip on Agafay, I'll check it out! Paradise valley we skipped because after further investigation we saw that it wasn't as the first images made you believe.

Hey everyone! Does anyone have recommendations on where to stay in `Kigali`?
I spent a month there last summer and still couldnโ€™t tell you the best area to stay in. Itโ€™s kind of a weird layout!

I ended up in Kacyiru and it was definitely safe, central, easy. Iโ€™d probably stay there again. It was just a little quiet for me and I wish it had been a little more dense.

Nyamirambo is definitely cooler, more active and local. But itโ€™s also not as a central and Iโ€™m not sure what the short term housing options look like there.

I wrote a www.carolinesyrup.com/kigali-rwanda/|whole post with recs> for Kigali, if thatโ€™s helpful.
Hey Caro, just read your post, it was very helpful. I must say youโ€™re a talent writer! Thank you so much for sharing and for your reply here.
Glad to hear it! I really loved Kigali so I hope you enjoy your trip there too.
I've stayed in:
