Hi there. Any recommendations for beach towns in Cambodia with reliable wifi?
Have not been yet but Ko Rong seems ok. In general Wi-Fi seems to fluctuate a lot speed wise in Cambodia even day to day. So worth buying a larger SIM package as a backup, it's cheap.
I don't think the wifi can be described as reliable anywhere in Cambodia but I rate Kampot if you're looking for a coastal town with a nice vibe
xaaimpy how is siem reap? Prefer that over phnom penh? Thinking of spending a month in cambodia but can't decide which area
It's super quiet right now overall, but it is a nice city. If I was only going to pick one place for a month I'd pick PP so far and just come up to Siem Reap for a few days to do the temples and check it out. And you can do quick trips to Kampot and Koh Rong much more easily from PP.

A lot of places have closed down here in Siem Reap. I can see this place being popular once things get busier again. One note the internet quality fluctuates a lot more here than in PP too.

I'd likely book an apartment for a month (or get a great month rate at a hotel) in PP, and homebase from there.
Thanks for the advice. I'll look into that ๐Ÿ‘

I'm finding PP too quiet or maybe it's because of the new years. I generally don't like busy cities like Bangkok but here in PP it looks like everything is closed...not sure if it will pixk up be new week. I am going to Siam Reap tmrw and then Battambang so will return and report of my impression!
Lots of people leave PP during New Years, businesses close

Dropping the pin to a really cool cafe and co-working space in Siam Reap! The artisan coffee is :pinched_fingers:

Hi! Is Cambodia processing visa on arrival atm? Is it as simple as showing up at the airport with your passport and photo or is there more to it?
I don't think so, it's super easy to apply online and get the electronic visa from the government site.
You sure UR69C3P0E? I learned that visa on arrival resumed from one of your previous post. Bit surprised to hear the opposite from you

I'm almost convinced that they're being processed. Just looking for personal experience...
Not sure maybe I'm forgetting something.. Either way I'd rather just apply online and have it done. One less thing to do in the airport ๐Ÿ™‚ The one thing that for sure isn't being done anymore is the COVID test on arrival in the airport.

I just applied online, paid the $36 and got approval 1 day later
bofgaeku did you have to include your hotel information? Thatโ€™s the part we're stuck on for Evisa.
Ya, I provided my Airbnb info
You can just book a place for 1 night and then change later if you change your mind. IMO

Not a thing in Cambodia really, not like Thailand. But still lots of shops around.
Flying to Phnom Penh soon. Just to confirm, there are no covid requirements anymore? Don't need to take any covid test prior to flying?
which is bad, because to get out of Cambodia, you need to test everywhere, would be suck to be stuck here....
Are you saying it's difficult to get a test inside Cambodia?
I'm saying if you got positive, it sucky place to stuck
I see, how is it there? Are you not enjoying it?
I'm not ( But it's me, very subjective
Dang that's a bummer. I'll be there for 1 month. Care to say what you don't like?
I'll DM
I really enjoyed Cambodia, just to offer an alternate view. Bit quiet in some touristy spots, but great if you explore past that.
When you get out of airport, take a Grab, don't take a taxi, it's like 100 times more expensive
Hi! Did you have to show an onward ticket when boarding for Cambodia? I am flying out of Bangkok.
What is an onward ticket?
Where to get rapid test (need official, not from dollar store) in Phnom Penh? Is one in airport maybe?
I didn't - 2 months ago and had bought a electronic visa ahead of time for 30 days.
uvvqyswzl This clinic in PP somewhat near airport does Antigen Tests 24/7 with certified results within 15 to 30 Minutes.

Thank you very much, it's very helpful!
It's a ticket showing your return flight or exit from Cambodia. Which airline did you fly gkusavc ?
Oh. I thought you need it for a visa somewhere to Europe or States. But to Cambodia, no, they don't need anything. I used Liam Air from BKK
Flew in on AirAsia from Bangkok
A lot of times it's the airline that requires it
Happy to help! ๐Ÿ™‚
Gosh really? Can you share your experience?
They will just ask to see a return flight prior to your visa expiration. Normally I book an onward ticket day of for $10, usually valid for 24 hours
Who they specifically and what year was it?
My last international flight from Jakarta to Bangkok in October 2021 asked for it. Flight was operated by Garuda
Any time I've been asked (only a couple times) - I just tell them I'm traveling and have not decided where to go. Has never been something I couldn't talk my way through.
Did it there, 20 minutes, 30$. Thank you again.
I tried a several pharmacies around, they don't do
I tried Soviet Hospital, they do it for 100$ and 5 hours - rapid test
Oh wow, I didn't realize it was that hard to find, I'd only heard about it from another friend. Glad to hear it worked out!! ๐Ÿ™‚
An interesting encounter I just got in Phnom Penh Airport with Cambodia Angkor Air going to Vietnam. They asked me to have an onward ticket or book one right there otherwise they will not give me my boarding pass))) I said, no thank you. I have no idea when I leave the country. They insisted to start booking and make a screenshot before paying, therefore pretending as if I have one. I said, no thank you, no committing fraud with Vietnam immigration. So basically they want to save their asses and not to fly someone else back. On the Vietnam website, they state I can book a ticket back inside the country. I said, either you deny me onboarding your plane now or leave me alone and it will be on me to deal with Immigration on arrival. They let me go.
Make no mistake, I blame yompaplgutgy for calling upon me a problem I never even heard before ๐Ÿคฃ
Haha. It's nothing new. In my experience it depends on the airline. I normally just spend the $10 for an โ€œ0nwardโ€ (trying to not flag the bot) ticket within 24 hours
I am adventurous enough to test their system. I think it's should be my decision when and how to fly, drive, crawl, or jump back from the country. And if they disagree, there are plenty of other countries. And obviously, I write this after I passed the immigration because I strong believer in Karma))
Just for context. I believe they do that to make sure you have the ability to leave the country. Aside from checking how much you have in your bank account, a flight out of the country is really the only way to make sure you won't be stuck there and become a problem for that government

Trying to head to Cambodia (Siem Reap) in the Fall (wife + newborn). As Belgian I can only get a 30 day e-visa. I'd like to get 60 or 90 days. The KH embassy replied I can get a 1 month extension by visiting an office in Phnom Penh... Are there better options?

ie is there a 3 or 6 months (tourist) visa that I can apply for in advance? Don't want to fly from SR to PP just to (hopefully) extend my visa
How do people deal with ATMs giving $100 bills? Do you take that to a bank to get smaller bills? My 2 biggest struggles are being given flimsy bills that then tear and won't be accepted anywhere, and pulling large bills from an ATM and not being accepted anywhere including the super markets
You can get them changed at the Wing money places easily (they are everywhere). Usually easy to use at chain coffee shops too - Starbucks, Browns etc.

Never accept a US bill that isn't in very good condition or better. Too much hassle.

I got in the habit of trying to break $100 as often as possible when doing daily stuff rather than waiting.
I didn't think about the money places. I'll try that. Thanks!

Hey, what website can I use to buy the travelling covid insurance?
you just need a letter stating your current insurance covers covid (or covid abroad)
but for what itโ€™s worth in all my travels during covid Iโ€™ve never been asked for any proof
including cambodia

Hey everyone, Who is in Phnom Penh next week? What's the best way to get from Ho Chi Minh to Phnom Penh? When I took the bus years ago it took a long time.
Best way is to catch a direct flight, it takes 1 hr. Vietnam Airlines and Angkor Air fly that route everyday

Thanks, but I donโ€˜t want to spend $250 for a roundtrip. Maybe I book just the visa run car if I can find it for Wednesday. I only saw one for Thursday and weekends.
