Who's in Egypt
Yoo Egypt channel
Thinking about arriving in January!
Pretty excited but also kinda nervous ๐Ÿ˜…
Me too! Where are you going?
thought I'd test the waters here first
Are you going alone?
My husband and I are definitely looking to spend some time in the country until March. Some friends are doing the Cairo trip in mid-January, and in March some family is going to Jordan/Israel
He's got family in Alexandria, but we're thinking of making a base in Cairo, and I'm super interested in Dahab too ๐Ÿ‘€ It looks so remote and exotic all the way over there by its lonesome
what about you UR6L7QSBA?
Are you still in Egypt UQJSDB1C3?
That sounds so cool! Iโ€™ll be in Cairo yeah, probably just for a week or two
It will be so cold to dive in Dahab in January (but Iโ€™m kinda wimpy about cold)
Alright that's fair! Do you remember how cold it can get? I'm Canadian but anything that feels like Ontario fall (10-15โ„ƒ) gives me pause lol
Pause as in "Do I really want to feel like I'm heading to class on a crisp autumnal day?"
I'd like to avoid that as long as possible
Or be the be one sending off children during this weather - while holding some sort of hot beverage, laughing internally that I'm not the one en route to class under such conditions
(Ideal ones for learning ๐Ÿฅบ)
I just made myself nostalgic, that failed miserably lolol
it falls to 20C and below and is very windy very often
That's not too bad then. That's close to what's happening here in Sicily right now ๐Ÿ‘Œ
lol the one place in Dahab I wanted to visit...... and it's now closed. Freaking coworking spaces are unsustainable, mang www.coworkinn-dahab.com/
oyhhmdtnfkx I hate that it's closed as well, I'm considering opening a work space there myself lol
That's so cool UQJSDB1C3! Co-working spaces tend to be difficult businesses from what I understand, it's like the opposite of digital nomadism haha!
any physical business for that case haha, but one have to settle eventually ;)
very true ๐Ÿ™‚
Hi everyone! Just got to Dahab and it seems like my boyfriendโ€™s Mac charger died ๐Ÿ˜ฑ Itโ€™s one of the old models, 85W. Anyone know the fastest way to get a replacement? Store in Cairo? Online somewhere? (And if any kind soul happens to have this type of chargerโ€”could you lend it to us for a few minutes so he can copy some files?)
Thank you! ๐Ÿ™ We found out that thereโ€™s an electronics shop in town and they happened to have Mac chargers, phew!
khndsgblgvr Wow! I wouldn't expect to find that in Dahab
bnjuwavzf They had two at the computer supply shop near the German Bakery in Assaleh. Very pleasant surprise! Great service also.
mybzqcvgxg Welcome to Cairo, how do you like it so far? Feel free to ask me anything, I lived in Cairo for 2+ years
Anyone going to be in Cairo Jan 22-26?
๐Ÿ™ƒ Is literally no one active on this channel? I'm in Luxor.
Itโ€™s a pretty quiet channel.
Please tell me you will visit Queen Nefertariโ€™s tomb while in Luxor. We missed it and Iโ€™m told itโ€™s unforgettable.
I check this channel from time to time If anyone wants help, local information is scarce online in Egypt and I can provide that. so don't hesitate to ask
Anyone knows any details about the Coworking space that was in Dahab and was closed? I think it was called Coworkinn Dahab
The only thing I know is that it's no longer available - I wanted to visit it, but it's no longer operational
I wish I saw this comment earlier! We missed it ๐Ÿ˜ญ
Final day in Egypt tomorrow! It's been an amazing experience. I'd love to come back one day. I'd like to see Aswan, and maybe even spend a little bit more time here in Cairo
nice. did you feel safe as a lady?
Nope ๐Ÿ™ƒ I travel with my husband so it HELPS
but today I was hissed/catcalled
soooooo ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ
Husband has also been SUPER stressed walking with me down MAIN STREETS
and the reason he's stressed is specifically because he's being walking with me and hates the way men leer at me ๐Ÿ˜ž
ugh, sorry to hear ๐Ÿ˜ž But glad you found amazing things around
yeah! gotta focus on the best of it
the leering aside, egypt has been super fun
So we all have to go back!!
Apparently the relief painting is preserved in great detail. Itโ€™s a mind bender compared to the state we see most ruins.
We came to understand everything in Egypt is available to see if you pay the right person or they have the right connections.
We were trying to see the Wadi El Hitan where there are fossilized whale bones. We met a couple that had just come from there with their guide. Our guideโ€™s boss told him it was closed to tourists. Meanwhile, our same guide had just paid off the tourist police so we could go camp in the white desert in an area he told us was closed to tourists woman-shruggingskin-tone-2
Aswan is great xtczuordgxn and Abu Simbal which was a highlight
Our wishlist is Siwa Oasis and Marsa Matruh - and back to Luxor.
Definitely a next time here. This country is so rich in many ways ๐Ÿ˜
rsfuartsjll ayzhaprug they scheduled to move the co-working place when I was around, but ye, it closed down. There is another place in dahab called Mojo Coworkcafe. A bit small and not a real co-working space, but good wifi
> everything in Egypt is available to see if you pay the right person or they have the right connections.
that pretty much sums Egypt up. which is not great for an introvert, like the rules kind of person like me.
hyheefwoawqvpbn that's nice that you enjoyed it. Alexandria is my hometown and I know it very well. I can't imagine how a tourist would find it though since it's hard to know the good places.. It is must have been tricky without a guide?

I love nomading, maybe because I wasn't very comfortable in Egypt and loving the nomads and international community when I travel.
I just got started few months ago and really like it. I'm in Thailand now which have relatively cheap prices like my home country and high life quality and international community like the West.
It was tricky, but we found a good kushari place and just kept going back. We'd take long walks in between coffee shops. Ok, Now I want kushari and Egyptian coffee.
When we did have guides, for the touristy stuff, I was always amazed at the quality of language skills when no one we interacted with had ever left the country.
We never ventured more than a few blocks into the city from the waterfront. Our adventure level for Alexandria pretty much stopped at the tram line.
