dhkirtbzwc Welcome to Cairo, how do you like it so far? Feel free to ask me anything, I lived in Cairo for 2+ years
omecfijgxn3mo
Anyone going to be in Cairo Jan 22-26?
snrxjgzrmm2mo
๐Ÿ™ƒ Is literally no one active on this channel? I'm in Luxor.
dqdgnsicbnbcfj2mo
Itโ€™s a pretty quiet channel.
Please tell me you will visit Queen Nefertariโ€™s tomb while in Luxor. We missed it and Iโ€™m told itโ€™s unforgettable.
ebfliwtn2mo
I check this channel from time to time If anyone wants help, local information is scarce online in Egypt and I can provide that. so don't hesitate to ask
gshvvnpa2mo
Anyone knows any details about the Coworking space that was in Dahab and was closed? I think it was called Coworkinn Dahab
bqswykrdnr2mo
The only thing I know is that it's no longer available - I wanted to visit it, but it's no longer operational
rlrfpmpqot2mo
I wish I saw this comment earlier! We missed it ๐Ÿ˜ญ
ysoynrakbq2mo
Final day in Egypt tomorrow! It's been an amazing experience. I'd love to come back one day. I'd like to see Aswan, and maybe even spend a little bit more time here in Cairo
vdyijfam2mo
nice. did you feel safe as a lady?
keterjfeaw2mo
Nope ๐Ÿ™ƒ I travel with my husband so it HELPS
dvxzqdjjkc2mo

Husband has also been SUPER stressed walking with me down MAIN STREETS
etymwcaqux2mo
and the reason he's stressed is specifically because he's being walking with me and hates the way men leer at me ๐Ÿ˜ž
ksrhwazf2mo
ugh, sorry to hear ๐Ÿ˜ž But glad you found amazing things around
ueatsxxqni2mo
yeah! gotta focus on the best of it
unawhgavrr2mo
the leering aside, egypt has been super fun
ytfibesougswpl2mo
So we all have to go back!!
Apparently the relief painting is preserved in great detail. Itโ€™s a mind bender compared to the state we see most ruins.
qtcpouxnhvsqke2mo
We came to understand everything in Egypt is available to see if you pay the right person or they have the right connections.
We were trying to see the Wadi El Hitan where there are fossilized whale bones. We met a couple that had just come from there with their guide. Our guideโ€™s boss told him it was closed to tourists. Meanwhile, our same guide had just paid off the tourist police so we could go camp in the white desert in an area he told us was closed to tourists woman-shruggingskin-tone-2
uhlvycnlnsrwuz2mo
Aswan is great ktwaoekipoi and Abu Simbal which was a highlight
Our wishlist is Siwa Oasis and Marsa Matruh - and back to Luxor.
gojzsmbahu2mo
Definitely a next time here. This country is so rich in many ways ๐Ÿ˜
ptwzrs2mo
taxpqxuplpp fhkdgctbm they scheduled to move the co-working place when I was around, but ye, it closed down. There is another place in dahab called Mojo Coworkcafe. A bit small and not a real co-working space, but good wifi
mecignkb2mo

that pretty much sums Egypt up. which is not great for an introvert, like the rules kind of person like me.
xpvvvngr2mo
dkrolsyovtqvhic that's nice that you enjoyed it. Alexandria is my hometown and I know it very well. I can't imagine how a tourist would find it though since it's hard to know the good places.. It is must have been tricky without a guide?

I love nomading, maybe because I wasn't very comfortable in Egypt and loving the nomads and international community when I travel.
I just got started few months ago and really like it. I'm in Thailand now which have relatively cheap prices like my home country and high life quality and international community like the West.
hsleoshqyxrvlb2mo
It was tricky, but we found a good kushari place and just kept going back. We'd take long walks in between coffee shops. Ok, Now I want kushari and Egyptian coffee.
When we did have guides, for the touristy stuff, I was always amazed at the quality of language skills when no one we interacted with had ever left the country.
vwkrgkejqjrzpb2mo
We never ventured more than a few blocks into the city from the waterfront. Our adventure level for Alexandria pretty much stopped at the tram line.
ygvgbpcz2mo
xvkiupienekoztr Haha that's what most tourists do, you're okay you didn't miss much.

English language in Egypt is very important, sometimes it people think it indicates social class. so the better English with American\British accent you speak the better you're. in jobs and social status.
so everyone is always trying to improve their English.

If I were there I would advise you to some restraunts and dishes that you can only find in Alexandria. We have many options, since eating is the primary activity and what we do to socialize there xD.
mtshnjom2mo
in general the average restraunts and cafes in Alexandria are good and they're similar, so the ones you already been to were probably good
ebsxxgqu2mo
unlike Cairo, you MUST know a place before going, randomly walking to a place is not recommended there ( my experience)

Anyone in dahab? looking for some info on housing for nomads
llryhbhn26d
Howโ€™s Skype/WiFi in dahab these days?
kzaoccyhzpr26d
Last I was there was a couple years ago and Skype / video conferencing was not an option at all.... I think there was ways around it if you change your IP prior to arrival but Iโ€™m not techy so not sure. I didnโ€™t find Good WiFi anywhere.. I just bought a local sim and worked off my hotspot all the time which was cheap and more than fast enough. Sorry if youโ€™ve been since and this info is no longer relevant lol
vrtravod26d
Thanks. Iโ€™ve been there a few times and connectivity seemed worse when I was there last year. Everyone said it was intentional due to protests though. Curious what the current situation is
nppdcvoqjba26d
Sorry! Iโ€™m sure other people have more updated info!
xeifgspl26d
No problem! Thanks for replying. Channel is a little quiet
zhghcmyvrfk26d
Good luck and keep us posted. Iโ€™ve been promising my friends there that Iโ€™d come back for years now so I may be there at some point as well.
ytfzhope26d
Normally I wouldnโ€™t go this time of year (too chilly) but a friend is getting married! I know Iโ€™ll end up in the water though anyway
rsiihbea24d
I will be there soon, will update you re the internet
tkorzdho24d
xtamugmom please do. Thank you! I primarily need good WiFi for audio only Skype group calls (meetings). Previously it was fine there but last October it was terrible
ghjnoixf24d
Using my sim for data wasnโ€™t any better
qxteosju24d
are you already decided about dahab? have you considered other places in Egypt like Sharm?
xbivhglj24d
kiqiycnh24d
Iโ€™m actually going for a friendโ€™s wedding this time ๐Ÿ˜Š And I usually prefer Dahab to Sharm but I have often though about checking out a few other Red Sea places
qstuvbph24d
dnnbbkutr Cool!
tqiawzeq24d
well today was my first day and I tried the only coworking space there, it has decent internet. a bit faster than the Sim 4G. so it may be okay to do a call but not great. I would still recommend getting 4G sim anyway
qnegpoaf23d
which place was that?
gbfsbvpr23d
What do you mean? Which mobile network? Vodafone
jogebehr23d
no I thought it's WiFi from place, mobile internet via Vodafone is good though
fuakluni22d
Ok. Vodafone it is then! I chose a place Iโ€™ve stayed at before where the owner seems to care about maintaining the WiFi too
ulgtvqcd16d
Iโ€™m due to fly on the 24th. Oman is stopping people from the UAE entering. It looks like Egypt is still fine?
tjqiqfli16d
Ya, still ok for now.. people still coming in from everywhere... just normal screening at the airport
msreydqw14d
So, Egypt shut down airports starting thursday it seems?
dfzcsxwc13d
