how was it? can you recommend places there? we travel there next week.
Hey! Gouna itself is great, check it out for sure. It's very safe and calm, has nice public beaches and restaurants with cheap every day food as well as fancy places
I'm going to the airport already, but feel free to ask me anything about it, will reply as soon as I can
There is no uber inside Gouna btw, but there are tok-toks for 20 epg
And you can get to and from Hurgada by bus from Hurgada downtown for just 11 egp, ask locals
Bus stop is somewhere here
Awesome. We arrive at 0:50 at night - so we will organize a transfer beforehand. Dont want to search for transport in the middle of the night.
We definitely want to try some watersports, and very much look forward for some nice dinners there.
and, have a safe flight!
Thanks! For snorkeling you can check out this pier, quite some fishes in there
Zaytouna Beach Pier
And all dining places are in downtown mostly and some in marina area

Hello. Does anyone happen to have a link or a physical copy/pdf/whatever to the current Egypt restriction on South Africa? I've read through at least 30 news articles, can't find a link anywhere to the actual restriction rules. I'll even take Arabic and find someone to translate. Everything in the news is rather broad.

Hey everyone! ๐Ÿ‘‹ did any of you who arrived in Egypt lately have to do 14 days of quarantine? And if so, how strict is it?
mqw if you havenโ€™t got the answer yet, weโ€™re flying up from SA at the end of Jan. Flights have resumed (direct from Joโ€™burg on Fridays), and it seems we have to 14 day quarantine
Thanks. Where did you get quarantine info from? Like can you stay anywhere or is there a government hotel, etc?
FYI, I was able to find this. It seems to be the only communication method that the Egyptian embassy to Pretoria is using. The info there says 7 day voluntary isolation, not 14-day. I still haven't received a response to my emails to them, nor do they answer the phone.

Hey folks -- I'm arriving in Cairo tomorrow. Traveling with a friend / fellow nomad. We both work remotely (in tech) and have been nomading for ~4 years. This will be our first time in Egypt. If anyone would like to meet for coffee, a meal, or a drink while we're in town, give me a shout. If you can recommend a great spot for craft beer or speciality coffee, the drink is on me. We'll only be around for ~10 days. Outside of the obvious tech & travel interests, we enjoy talking all things psychology, philosophy, and culture.
๐Ÿ›ฌ mdflbocc just arrived in ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡ฌ El Gouna, #egypt
Oh flip thanks for much - this is much more concrete (but doesn't make Egypt too welcoming!)
I can't remember where I got it from - will try to find out.
Hey guys
Iโ€™m thinking of Dahab in January. How is it for nomads?
Cannot comment on Dahab, but if you're looking for feedback on Cairo I'm happy to share my perspective
Thanks mate, Iโ€™d love to know about Cairo as well. Might go there for a week
If coming to Cairo, the only neighborhood I would recommend is Zamalek. We started in an airbnb in Al Manial, but the wifi wasn't great (despite being advertised as good) and there weren't any suitable cafes to work from. Zamalek has several, including a few Starbucks, Costa, and other chains.

Downtown Cairo is a zoo. Super fun in a chaotic / constant honking kind of way. Lots of character. But I think you'd encounter the same challenge of not many suitable options for working cafes. So again, I recommend Zamalek. It also has the best food options, bars, etc.

As for wifi strength, some cafes have really strong wifi. Social Specialty Coffee Roasters is fantastic on quality and wifi (70 mbps down and 40 up), though it's not a large space and there's no customer toilet. So 2-3 hours is probably the most you'd want to spend there.

I'm only here this week, so I'll have more recs by the weekend, but those are my initial impressions.

Also, be warned that the AQI is awful here. Over 400 today.
Tons of culture and history here though, so if that's your jam then definitely come spend a week. The energy, chaos and dirtiness is comparable to India or Bangladesh (from what I hear...haven't personally spent in those places). I lived in Haiti for 3 months and that's the most similar comparison I have for traffic and chaos on the streets, though Cairo is certainly substantially more livable than Haiti. Two entirely different places, especially within Zamalek.
^^the view from the Nile this morning. Not great.
The past few days the AQI was more like 150
Holy shit, 400 AQI your eyes will start bleeding! Was going to head to Cairo for a week, but that's just obscene.
Tbh, more interested in Dahab area with windsurfing and the sea, not Cairo
๐Ÿ›ฌ sqw just arrived in ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡ฌ Dahab, #egypt
Please let me know about quarantine ๐Ÿ™
vqphylrz weโ€™re probably going to head to Dahab for Feb if youโ€™re still around by then! Weโ€™ll probably start last week of Jan in Cairo and then head. the coworking space looks stunning!
njczpttjerufr the last post was 4 years ago and the website doesnt work. Looks like theyโ€™re dead already :)
This is the last man standing of co-works, it seems (on their Insta they were last tagged Sept โ€™21 so that should be good)
(And if you run a speed test could you please share the results with us too!)
I moved my flight back and didn't update nomadlist. I'll let you know when I arrive on Friday.
Thanks so much! Weโ€™ve booked our flight for the 21st, so anything before then gives us a big head start ๐Ÿ™‚
In Dahab, there is Wi-Fi in hotels, there is a co-working cafe Mojo, and you can also just surf your Internet from a local sim card. There are a lot of remoters here
nice shots
for the internet I recommend getting a local sim and not relying on wifi
I use both
nice how long have you been living there?
2weeks. But im thinking i wanna stay here elsesee_no_evil a few months...maybe
Ya that happens, I went there for a week in march 2020 and ended up living there 5 month
Its really magical place
ya it is chilling but sometimes gets too chilling
I missed some modern things like malls and starbucks
ya you'll enjoy it
free diving is really cool thing to do, I suggest buying a good mask and just going with friends
I dont know how to explain. I feel like I should be here. From the very first day I got a lot of friends here. Both local and visitors from different countries. Although I avoided communicating with everyone. There are a lot of activities, hobbies, a big village like a big family. Stunning colors of mountains, sky, water. And I feel very organic here) I even want to buy a motorcycle here. But first I need to solve the issue of housing for a long time and understand what things I still need here) because I have only one small backpack and a laptop with me
oh thats so nice, you should definitely do that, getting a house and a bike is a good first step. You can get cheap big houses in asala and it will be perfect if you have bike/motorbike

Also, if you need to do some essential shopping for things you can't find in dahab you can shop in Amazon or do a small trip to sharm (1 hour away)
But I really feel you in how organic things are there and how the community is nice
Yes, I have already traveled to Charm with local new acquaintances. But not shopping) many owners of establishments already know me. Some cafes and services already have my stickers, because the owners are also motorcyclists. And I was even given an enduro bike once just like that on the street, because they saw my profile on Instagram and know that I won't fall, that I'm a motorcycle racer and I ride well.
It's just that it's all so sudden. I very quickly found here those who feel me and what I was looking for for life. Although I have been to 18 countries and I have not experienced such feelings before) like Im at home now, which I have never hadblush
oh wow this is a great story
travellight a famous travel blogger also had a similar experience in Egypt, she said she felt home
Hey man Me and my gf are going to egypt on March, if you extend your trip let me know!
Just left yesterday, but feel free to hit me up for tips on Cairo and/or Nile Cruise
Hey everybody! Me and my gf will land in cairo on March.

If somebody can answer my questions I appreciate

1 - Iโ€™m going to have Cairo as base, and look around all over egypt, 10 days of vacation and 30-40 working days (mostly in cairo I guess), is enough?
2 - Iโ€™ve heard a lot about Dahab for digital nomads on the other hand Iโ€™ve heard a lot about kidnapping in south of sinai (dahab area), since my gf is a blond green eyes girl, Iโ€™m a worried a bit, should I be worried?
3 - If you could choose luxor vs aswan which city should we visit to see?
4 - About cairo, zamalek is the only neighbourhood with good cafes and places to go? What about Maadi?

If somebody is on egypt on march, letโ€™s connect
1. Definitely enough time. Stay in Zamalek.
2. Didn't go. Will let others answer.
3. Luxor > Aswan
4. Maadi also has some good spots, but it's far from everything else.
Internet is not great in Cairo, just a heads up, might be a tough base
Yes, I'd echo U06UADFFS. I found one Airbnb that had 30mbps down and 3 up, which was the best I found in Cairo. I believe they had a data setup though, rather than an actual wifi connection. Most of the time I had to rely on data to work. But that's true of everywhere in Egypt, not just Cairo.
Kidnapping all blond [sic] green eyed girls in south sinai ๐Ÿ™„ Where have you heard this and why would hair and eye color have anything to do with it?
Iโ€™ve heard 2 news about that, but I donโ€™t trust news, and I follow one influencer that dates one Russian blonde and told that to their audience as well, but could be just a biased opinion that why Iโ€™m here asking to ppl that went to Egypt. Mostly because they are different most of Egyptians are brown haired I donโ€™t think itโ€™s a stupid question to ask.
Well after you heard that warning that made you concerned for blonde women traveling to south sinai, what did you find when you googled โ€œkidnappings in south sinaiโ€?
There are so many Russian tourists in south sinai, btw, youโ€™ll find signs are in Arabic, English and Russian
Yay, they let me in the country!

Here's the interesting part... no one said anything about isolation or quarantine.

I didn't hide that I came from South Africa. It was on my declaration form. They went through my passport page by page, twice. I handed the border officer my passport with both boarding pass stubs clearly staying I came from Cape Town. My bag tags were on my luggage as it went through customs which show I came from Cape Town as well.

No instructions, no nothing. They didn't test me on arrival like they said they're supposed to do when coming from SA either. They searched all my bags pretty thoroughly, but that was all.

So yeah, no idea if I'm supposed to isolate it not. ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ
Yay!! Oh my goodness what great news. Congrats! Wish us luck for the same treatment this Friday from Jozi ๐Ÿ˜ฌ Fingers crossed! If you're in Cairo from 22-29 Jan please let us know, or if you're in Dahab after that. Would love to say hi!
I'm in Dahab until first week of Feb. Would love to meet up!
iaixzoahrez from next Friday weโ€™ll be in Cairo (Zamalek) for a week and then Dahab for the next 3. ๐Ÿ™‚ Iโ€™ll let you know about 2. (FYI Iโ€™m also blonde with green eyes so I can probably give a report on what it is like, if that would reassure your gf) ๐Ÿ‘€
Hey all, I have a layover in Cairo which became an overnight stay. Are there any good places to stay at close to the airport? My flight is 9am
๐Ÿ›ฌ zxrdxkoznyfch just arrived in ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡ฌ Dahab, #egypt
I can assure everyone that kidnappings in the Sinai did not target blonde women
The more recent concerns for tourists in south sinai โ€” five or so years ago โ€” involved planes blowing up. The kidnappings involved egyptians working in northern sinai. So, no need to drag out these old tropes
How did it go?
arrived in Cairo!
No quarantine, no searching ๐Ÿ˜‚ it was fantastic. We're in Dahab from next weekend
Anyone in Cairo and care for a drink? ๐Ÿท
Amazing. Have a blast!
I am, where in Cairo are you located?
Does anyone know if the process for getting a visa on arrival in Egypt is easy or should I get one beforehand. I have an American passport
Depends where you're flying into. My understanding is that it's easy in Cairo. In other places (SSH for example) it may require trips to the immigration office. Just get it in advance. It was easy for me, just be sure to triple check for typos. If they reject it you have to pay again.
pdf cool thanks. I'm applying online for the visa here but they haven't asked me to pay yet. I'm guessing they ask me to pay after checking my details on the application are correct?
Hey, anyone recommends a good scuba diving cruise liveaboard ~4 days in Egypt's Red Sea ?
I just got my visa approved fromย , but I don't remember paying any money for it. Is this normal? I'm only staying one day, though
