Hondos Center Omonoia square- 2d floor haha
Any pharmacy? ๐Ÿ™‚
Did the cube work for anyone in here? I had really bad internet there ๐Ÿ˜ฌ
havent worked there myself, but heard very lukewarm reviews too ๐Ÿ˜
What's the best way to piraeus if I'm landing at ATH at 00:30 ?
Only taxi. There is no night bus to the port
I went, internet is good, the place is ok
i worked in the second floor though ... a caffee its better imo, unless u need to make calls
Does anyone have recommendations of cities to visit ? i've heard that islands suck this time of year ๐Ÿ˜ž
they do no suck, but they are not as warm, not so many people, some restaurants are closed... and things are more chilled and relaxed. Some cities you can visit as day trips from Athens are Delphi and Nafplio ( those are my top 2 as native Greek)
Nice!, which islands u recommend ?
this time of the year, I would go to Crete or Rhodes.
Great!, thanks for the recommendations ๐Ÿ™‚
I was in Crete last weekend, the weather was perfect
I was just in Crete and loved it!

Just on the ferry to Mykonosโ€ฆ feels like my nomad life is back after the last couple of years.
Replying to client emails and raising invoices connected to 5G on the ferry from Athens to Mykonos. Life is back hehe
Sounds amazing! Did you buy tickets online or at port?
I always took tickets online but you have plenty of agency at port
driarwxmrswlu I got them online. โ‚ฌ90 for an entire cabin w/ bed and shower for the 5.5hr trip. Was super nice. I booked the business lounge for โ‚ฌ45 on the way back
(I was told in high season they are 2-3x the price)
For anyone who is planning coming to Greece - starting from today the only places that you can go without vaccine proof-rapid test- PCR are supermarket pharmacies. Even for outdoors u need a test!

All the other places such as church, malls,stores, gym, hairdresser, manicure pedicure have been added to the list of places that you need a megative test or covid vaccine.
Thanks Anastasia!
I just arrived in Thessaloniki last night. Unfortunately I havenโ€™t had much luck getting my US CDC vaccine card accepted at phone service shops, but I did manage to get a Vodafone sim card by asking if I could buy it without going in the store.
So far I tried 2 cafes and both accepted the card (without showing the gov press release stating the card is fine). Iโ€™m assuming because itโ€™s the first day things are a bit chaotic, but as the press release gets more widely known things should settle down a bit.
Glad to hear you found a solution. sometimes and I say that as a Native Greek, we can be super lazy... I am sure the ppl at the mobile store did not even bother to read properly or educate what type of vaccines card are accepted. I know for sure the US CDC card is fine, I think that store was just giving you a hard time. Hope you will enjoy Greece ๐Ÿ™‚
Is it possible to get a vaccine for tourists in Greece?
Thinking of going there in December, though not sure if the vaccine I got this year will be widely accepted there
I am afraid its not possible, sorry!

Hey guys, does anyone know any way in Athens to convert a non-EU vaccination cert to EU ones? Getting a little annoyed with getting chased out of places. ๐Ÿ˜
yea me too :disappointed:, let me know if u find how
same please! was fine this summer but itโ€™s stricter now it seems smiling_face_with_tear
may I ask what vaccine do you have guys ?
I got J&J from the US
I even have a US digital certificate with a QR code not just a paper version, but โ€œitโ€™s not recognized by the machine hereโ€ - direct quote from a waiter yesterday loll ๐Ÿ˜…
thank you!! zmvvjhtyfurnd ๐Ÿค— I will still try to find a way to get the EU one to avoid this headache haha
this is some bullshit, then he should update his machine, simple as that.

I am so upset about this, cause it has happened before to some of my friends- greece is years behind on so many things. anyway Just be bold and tell him that it is not your fault if the machine is not updated, and just show him the above and sit anyway ! This is what my friend did haha ๐Ÿ˜…
haha love the encouragement! โ˜บ๏ธ will bring out my russianness for this ๐Ÿ˜‰ ฮตฯ…ฯ‡ฮฑฯฮนฯƒฯ„ฯŽ!
yes you should ๐Ÿ’ช hehe, ฯ€ฮฑฯฮฑฮบฮฑฮปฯŽ!
Yeah same issues here in Thessaliniki. The US embassy says to show them the press release linked above, but still got denied. Once I did almost get in, but then the manager overruled them. ๐Ÿ˜•
๐Ÿ˜ž I am so sorry. try doing what I advised above, and let me how it goes. Be rude if needed haha
```I did learn on Reddit that any pharmacy in Germany and France will convert the US CDC card to an EU certificate/QR code for around 30-40 euros though.
And then someone pointed me to this link where the German pharmacy will convert it digitally. Supposedly they got it in 24 hours. I submitted mine on a Saturday, so hopefully by tomorrow it would be done? I will update ya'll on how it worked out```
(Slack wont let me send a link)
Thats great hopefully it will resolve the issue for many.
tshxkmjhsvzbzt I dont think so. Try the following, but replace spaces with a .
vaccert apotheken ruhr
yeah exactly
Does anyone have information regarding the following?
โ€ข As mentioned above, Sputnik (and many other vaccines) is among those, accepted at arrival to Greece.
โ€ข However, technically, that doesn't necessarily mean it's suitable for daily movement during the current lockdown. Is it?
Also, can someone with local knowledge point to the official governmental release about the current lock-down?
Also, what's the standing with paper certificates?
As a native Greek, who lives in Greece at the moment, all vaccines that I mention above ( screenshot is from the official Greek government website) should be acceptable from any establishment across the country. If they are not, this is clearly the owners fault, so in any case I would personally be more firm showing the screenshot and the website where they can find the info. Scan that does not accept the barcode should not be an excuse.
Regarding the paper certificates I am not sure if those will work, but I know friends that have shown them on multiple occasions with no issues. Regarding the current lockdown, it is not a lockdown as such, but long story short if you are not vaccinated or you dont have with you a negative antigen or pcr test, you can no longer do anything except from going to the supermarket. Now even outdoor restaurants cafes, do need proof of vaccination or recent negative test, or proof that you had covid in the last 6 months.
I've often fantasize about a coworking service that runs on trains and ferries, with some routes on a loop so you can board the ferry and get off at the same place if you only need to work for a few hours. They would have comfortable workspaces with views, fast internet, local pub food, and give out cool stickers. Maybe call it WeWend?
Just an update on the CDC vaccine card -> EU certification process. I submitted my request to the German pharmacy website (see previous comments) on Saturday. Received the QR code in PDF form today, and successfully scanned it in with GreenPass.
Fantastic! I submitted it on Tuesday, guess I have a couple days more to wait.
Perfect! I can also confirm it was accepted 1/1 times so far, so it seems legit. Happy nomading!
Was there any proof of residency needed?
hey guys, I'm thinking of moving to Athens for one month
how is the digital nomad scene over there? I didn't see any events coming up...
Was dead when I was last there (in July/August)
i guess yea there is no much of a nomad scene, more touristy, islands are better
Got mine too! check your spam in case the EU cert email ends up there like mine did :upside_down_face:
no need for a proof of residency
did anyone try cycling trips around the country? any spots recommendations?
I did from Patras โ†’ Athens, a bit on Santorini, and Crete from Heraklion โ†’ Chania. Impressions:
โ€ข There are some serious mountains.
โ€ข Winter is cold!
โ€ข People are super friendly and positive towards cyclists (except the gang of Romani kids who swarmed us and ran off with our groceries and chocolates :joy:).
โ€ข Enough cycle culture to find shops and repairs.
โ€ข Cuisine is perfect for cycling.
I would love to do more cycling, maybe not as loaded touring, but touring with just a credit card, in late spring.
are you looking to stay somewhere near the city center, or you are willing to explore other areas as well ?
Hey, I just arrived in Athens
First impression is not really positive, tbh...
For those that already lived in Athens, do you have any suggestion to get in touch with the best part of this city?
BTW, if someone wants to grab a coffee/drink, I'll be more than happy
best/worst can be quite relative, athens has its gritty feel but there are some really nice spots, not sure what youโ€™re looking for
personally I liked staying at psiri/exarcheia but its not for everyone, if you look for something in koukaki or kolonaki it might be better for you
Thanks nidfbreuf
As a native Greek, who has lived in Athens in my early 20s, then moved abroad for 13 years and then had to come back for personal reasons and got stuck due to Covid โ˜น I will have to agree with lqqgztgy Athens was better back in the days, but now I dont like it at all.
However it has some nice spots that are not in the city center . For example if you are willing to stay for a few days in the center to explore the sightseeings, then I would suggest head to the south. Cities like Glyfada, Vouliagmeni, Varkiza are expensive but they are gorgeous ( at least in my opinion)
There are some dodgy places in the city center, such as Omonoia square during the night, so please avoid it ๐Ÿ™Œ
exarcheia is also my recommendation, really hip and full of bars/clubs/restaurants and things to do, but mostly for people who like cities like berlin (esp. neukolln) and belgrade in general
Hi people.
Greece is open for tourism purposes now? planning to come after a week or two.
BTW anyone already had any experience with the new DN residency?
Yes Greece is open for tourism. Make sure you read this page, and have a PLF ready
Iatropolis do rapid tests. I personally never go to pharmacies
thanks mzfnihfeu may I ask you how did you find you apartment (if you lived in an apt of course ๐Ÿ™‚ ?
got it on airbnb kiticksf ๐Ÿ™‚
of course I'm already using it dlffppjti :slightly_smiling_face:. But I'm also searching in the regular market. But thanks for the tip!
Hey folks -- Just arrived in Athens yesterday. Traveling with a friend / fellow nomad. We both work remotely (in tech) and have been nomading for ~4 years.
If anyone would like to meet for coffee, a meal, or a drink while we're in town, give me a shout. If you can recommend a great spot for craft beer, the drink is on me. We'll be around for ~2 weeks. Outside of the obvious tech & travel interests, we enjoy talking all things psychology, philosophy, and culture.
In athens for the week!
Saw a very cheap flight to Thessaloniki and bought without doing any research other than it's the second largest city in Greece. Will be there 23 to 29 March. What are the key to-dos, to-sees, to-eats and to-drinks?
Some of the places you can visit in Thessaloniki:
White Tower
Stroll along the waterfront.
Visit the Ancient Agora, The Arch of Galerius,ย The Rotunda of Galeriusย
also several museums that you can go and visit and of course Agios Dimitros,ย Thessalonikiโ€™s most famous church, which is dedicated to Saint Dimitri, the holy patron of the city. Its relics are kept inside the crypt.
food there is amazing. Ladadika and Valaoritou districtsย are the most lively for night life and good restaurants.
Thank you so much!
You are very welcome!
