No idea if it is still relevant to you but things have gotten worse. You are only allowed to walk within 6km radius of your residence.
Hi, all! Greece might be opening up soon to US travelers who are vaccinated and I'm wondering if anyone has recommendations where to spend an entire month (thinking June/July). I've heard Crete, Naxos. Looking for culture, things to do besides lying on a beach, etc!
I didnโ€™t do all that much on Naxos, yet I really liked it there
(ignoring the freezer situation)
Crete is your best bet. It has lots of places to visit, amazing beaches and nature in general if youโ€™re into hiking etc, ancient palaces etc, and also AMAZING food (even by greek standards)!

Other than that, itโ€™s easy to island hop, there are plenty of ferries and planes going around. If itโ€™s your first time in Greece I guess youโ€™d want to fomo visit at least Santorini when it comes to other islands ๐Ÿ˜„
I've been on Crete, it's a huge island and I could easily spend couple of months there. Lots of things to do. Santorini reachable by a speed boat in 4 hours iirc, so that might be a nice weekend getaway.
Naxos would be a better place for island hopping I guess because it's closer to the peninsula and other islands
I would recommend Crete too. I spent 6 months there last year and 6 months in Naxos the year before that. I feel like I need a few years more to see the rest of Crete, itโ€™s huge and there is so much to see/do.
๐Ÿค”
I definitely recommend Crete, I spent 3 months last year in the town of Chania and immediately fell in love and launched my coliving and coworking space there ๐Ÿ™‚
Iโ€™m confused about Greeceโ€™s travel rules. If you can get into Greece on a tourist visa with proof of vaccination, couldnโ€™t you then get into other EU countries from Greece since youโ€™re already in the Schengen zone even if those other countries donโ€™t allow vaccinated tourists yet?
Depending on the country there are some temporary border checks even within Schengen at the moment, or at least you'll get asked some questions at the airport. Even as EU citizen you can't just travel anywhere (unless you have a good enough reason usually)
Hi William i just updated with local information for Cyprus
Cyprus they accept vaccine certificate to be excepted from testing, only if
โ€ข You had the vaccine in Cyprus
โ€ข You had the vaccine in Israel (i guess there is an agreement)
all other countries will have to follow what applies to the category their country fall
so i guess at current stage proof of vaccination is not useful much even for within EU or Schengen zone,by the way not all EU countries are members of Schengen zone

Hey all, wonder if anyone here is still active. Iโ€™ll be heading to Greece in about 3 weeks. Iโ€™d love any info/recommendations people have or if anyone wants to sync up
I am Greek and in Greece at the moment let me know if you have any questions
How are things over there right now? Are stores, Restaurantes/ bars, open?
Everything is now open getting back to normal still a curfew at 23.00 I think, and you can only sit outside
Iโ€™m heading there in 3 weeks! Are there any good places to work from with good fast wifi on the islands?
Thank you ๐Ÿ˜Š
Not all islands have good wifi, so it depends the destination. For example last year where I was in Folegandros I had to use mobile data. Make sure to get a local sim card Cosmote, which gets signal almost everywhere just in case
thanks so much! Iโ€™m dying to go to Folegandros! ๐Ÿ™‚
Its amazing !!! I used 4G hotspot and was super fast
Iโ€™ve heard crete and Paros have good wifi but Iโ€™m more interested to see the smaller islands
was 4G strong enough for video calls?
Yes it was great for video calls when wifi not good enough. Both Paros and Crete have good wifi. I will be in Paros on the 5th of June and will be able to re confirm ๐Ÿ˜Š
amazing!! thanks so much! ๐Ÿ™‚
I really enjoyed working remotely in Chania Crete and Thessoliniki. I got island fever working remotely in Santorini for a week. Athens is great for community and Capital vibes, but for me Crete was my favorite place. Mountains & Beaches and decent nomad community in Chania (when things are open).
Definitely checkout Greek Escape (Coliving) in Crete if you're around.
Hey all - planning to hop to Athens for a few days and then spend 1-3 weeks in Paros. any recommendations for staying in Athens?
Also - I'm into diving - any local tips would be appreciated ๐Ÿ™‚
No recommendations but Paros is heaven ๐Ÿ˜ญ ๐Ÿ˜
Oh yeah, but the problem is ive contacted 3 airbnb hosts abd everyone admitted the internet is a real problem there...
Athens is like LA. Don't stay in the middle. The real fun and culture is outside. Stay in Glyfatha along the beach. Make day trips to the acropolis and Plaka.
I am going to Paros in a few days so I will let you know how wifi is
Hey guys, heading to Chania July 4 for a month. There are three of us (my gf, my brother, and me), wondering if there's coliving or Airbnb alternatives for monthly stays. Looking at airbnbs and they're really overpriced for that timeframe for two bedrooms!
Flying in so we won't have a car, looking for something more in the center in Chania
What monthly prices have you seen ? There are no co living places at Chania as far as I am aware โ˜น Unfortunately Greece is not popular for providing short term stays rental , they all want to rent their houses long term
For two bedrooms it starts at 2500-3000 from what I've seen
wow that is too much. maybe an alternative is to rent 2 separate places ? there is a website for rentals xe.gr|xe.gr but as I can see there is no english version.
curfew is at 00:30, probably will be extended to later time or removed
music is not allowed at bars/restaurants currently but it its expected to be allowed max by 15th June
Anyone near Thessaloniki or planning to pass?
Hey, there is a Coliving in Chania called Greek Escape ๐Ÿ™‚
Oh I did not know cool !
For anyone working with an american company while in Greece, what kind of schedule are you on?
I work 2.00am EST time to 10.00 which is 9 to 17.00. But when I went to mexico for 3 months my boss swapped the hours for me โ˜บ๏ธ
I'm in Kyiv which is the same timezone as Greece, usually I start at 11 local time and finish at 19-20 which is quite enough for the east coast but is just okay for the west coast
Iโ€™m in Cyprus but I work 2pm - 10pm local time.

Currently in Chania. It's pretty open, basically only restrictions are 12:30 curfew and no music, so it's kind of like the movie footloose :joy:. But it seems pretty normal here
