If you're still down for beers next week, would love to grab a few ๐Ÿ™‚
Any Americans enter Greece recently with their US vaccine card (no COVID test)? I recently had trouble boarding a flight to Egypt bc they do not accept the US vaccine card (I needed to have a QR code that they could scan) and now I'm paranoid lol
Iโ€™m in Crete ( rethymno ) until the end of the month, do any of you know about good coffee shops or Coworking spaces to work from ? Thanks !!! ๐Ÿ˜„
We entered Sept 3 with our US vaccine cards. They were checked at JFK at the bag check/ticket counter. We've had to show them for internal Greek transit as well (ferries, flights). The card has been fine.
I am thinking about other areas as long as the commute isnโ€™t too bad. I do expect the parking to be bad in the centre, hence why I am looking for something a bit more outside
Great. So areas I suggest are Keramikos, Gazi and a bit further Nea Smirni, Kallithea โ˜บ๏ธ
ha, all are pretty close to the centre. in Nea Smirni, how would one travel to the centre? `ฮฮ•ฮŸฮฃ ฮšฮŸฮฃฮœฮŸฮฃ` station?
I was actually looking for something even further out, and just near a metro station. Like Faneromeni?
There is a direct tram line from Nea smyrni to Syntagma square which I think it stops at Neos kosmos station.
I am not super familiar with Faneromeni to be honest but Holargos station is close so you are good

But if you are looking a bit further out check Aigaleo, again direct line to Syntagma square.
thanks Iโ€™ll check that as well. I am looking for somewhere where I can park my car without much hassle, hence why I want outside the centre
my car will also have some valuable stuff packed inside it (I am moving a lot of things, and stopping in Greece for a bit), so I donโ€™t want it to be in a place where crime could take place (no idea how safe it is in general)
I dont own a car ( yes I know ๐Ÿ˜‚ ) but crime car related is not so high as in other countries. Like in the area where I live for example never had issues , also I never heard stories but I understand you want a place as safe as possible. However crime related and safety is better in the upper side of Athens such as Holargos, Kifisia, Filothei and near the sea such as Palaio Faliro, Kalamaki, Glyfada, Bouliagmeni. Personally I love Glyfada and Bouliagmeni but to reach Athens city center is a bit far.
thanks, thatโ€™s enough for me to search for all day :slightly_smiling_face:
Any thoughts on Korydallos?
I live there haha
lol! how is it
We are pretty safe, but parking can be horrible
the host on airbnb mentions `big streets with houses` but that doesnโ€™t seem to be the case
Let me see ๐Ÿ‘€
Holargos seems good!
airbnb host lied a bit here haha. this place is near the main square and famous Taxiarchon street which is deffo not a big street to park at. Also there are so many houses
I have not been to Holargos many times but Its so much better from what I remember parking wise and super safe.
Korydallos place looks so nice, but parking takes it off the list. and yes now you have the whole day searching
the life of every nomad, no? ๐Ÿ˜„
100% haha
professional airbnb surveyor
weyrcfixyq ever considered compiling a community-approved list of airbnbs for each city?
xculmkmytvvlygovri thanks Laura!
another idea is to find somewhere to park the car for a week and go to the flat with a taxi
I am sure google will find you more like this but this is in Kifisia super posh and safe area
we've needed at least a rapid antigen test for every ferry between the islands in the last 3 weeks
Athens -> Paros, Paros -> Mykonos, Mykonos -> Naxos all required antigen test with 48 hour validity
thanks Anastasia! I did search around a bit and have some leads to follow up on

ypsfmxjobhsvt ah ok thank you for the info. Do you know if you need the test even if vaccinated?
Not sure, but that's what some other people told me. So take it with a grain of salt
We were never asked to for test results, nor did we have them. We only had our US vaccine cards. We were on Bluestar Ferries between Mykonos, Naxos, Paros & Piraeus in the last three weeks.
If you are vaccinated to travel by boat, you do not need to have a rapid test.
clurhtjiyzgvl thanks so much!
ehlmdmehl from Friday when it suits you!
Oops I just saw that! Until when will you be in Athens? Maybe we can organize something a bit more in advance raised_handsskin-tone-3
qsrybbr you are very welcome!
Yeah I put it very last minute, I realized that ๐Ÿ˜…

I leave on Friday but Wednesday I'm already booked.
where is your next destination ? ๐Ÿ˜ƒ
Heading back home to Spain. But I'm not sure how long I can survive without Dakos so I might come back to Greece soon ๐Ÿ˜‚
hahaha. I used to live in Spain for almost 7 years and I miss it so much. actually I am thinking of going back for a bit in November. Need to recover from my US travelling adventures first though.

So we should swap asap ๐Ÿ˜‚
What about Thursday! Shall we meet up on Thursday evening?
hfnxtcgbpkp Thursday works for me! I just won't stay til super late but we can have one or two beers ๐Ÿ˜‰
eorlddpbigdyp where in Spain? 7 years is quite some time! Do let me know if you visit Galicia, I'm happy to play the guide
Thursday works for me as well!

<@U01R3PVT55M> I lived in La Linea which is the border with Gibraltar. It does not sound so nice and fancy such as Barcelona or Madrid ๐Ÿ˜ I still liked it though. I was able to visit so many places during that time as well and Spain is always on the top of my favorite countries.
I have only been to Santiago De Compostela but that was many many many years ago..I dont remember much
Sadly I have not visited any other parts from northern Spain and thats on my bucket list. I would love to move back to be honest.. coming back to Greece was only temp and then `2020` happened!
Awesome! Let's catch up on Thursday then ๐Ÿ˜Š
And we can negotiate the country swap ๐Ÿ˜‚
Thursday sounds awesome! Let me know time and place! Just arrived here so donโ€™t know anywhere good yet ๐Ÿ˜‚
Where do you stay? This could be helpful to plan accordingly
I'm in Kipseli!

Any folks using Stripe with a Greek company? ๐Ÿค”
Who can finally make it tomorrow?
<@U02546D2Z3J> you're welcome to join us!
Hey guys! My friend and host just told me that she has a farewell surprise for me today. I'm sorry but I won't be able to join you finally :disappointed:
It's such a pity! But thank you very much for the answers, and definitely let me know if you ever show up around Galicia in Spain! ๐Ÿ™‚
I am not going to make it either, as I have to swap shifts for a colleague, who is down with Covid and I am the only person that can help. so sorry.
hello waveskin-tone-4 I'm going to be in Rhodes 7-26 Oct, where would you recommend me to stay? any tip on beaches & coworkings is well welcomed!
Hey, I have visited Rhodes, before been remote so I don't have many things to suggest, but please visit Lindos. it is such an awesome place, and so worth going.

parakalo ๐Ÿ™‚
at this point is there an expression equivalent to "de nada" or "kein ding" in greek? ๐Ÿ™‚
Hmmm thats a great question. Except parakalo, we sometimes use "na sai kala" , which means _I wish you well_ if translated word by word.
I used it very often myself.
Anyone in Athens center this Saturday afternoon?
Stay in Rhodes town, cause October is going to have fewer ppl. I was doing some light work from amalfi coast cafe with loud music :slightly_smiling_face:. Do some kitesurf or windsurf lessons. Go visit Lindos, Prasonisi, and if you have time Symi and Chalki island (better with company there). Youโ€™ll probably need a car at some point, the island is big
Thank you lbfdbwxxc ๐Ÿ™ for kitesurf and windsurf is still good to be based in Rhodes or shall I find something next to the beaches? No driving licence here i_love_you_hand_signsmileysweat_smile
2 points for Lindos!
There used to be public transport from Rhodes downtown to the kite/wind surfing beaches in Kremasti and Ialysos. Prasonissi is quite a ride away, but there were a couple of guest houses last time I visited, so you can stay there for a bit.
Lindos town is really cute, but not a surf spot. Good snorkeling.

Hey guys, do you know any companies / websites that I can use to ship stuff internationally?
Search for shipitto
Or are you trying to ship out of Greece?
yea, trying to ship stuff back to my family. Does shipitto do that too?
I think itโ€™s primarily USA to some international destination.
Depending on the country, if the postal system is reliable, that's likely the best option. Otherwise, DHL. I do not have experience with Hellenic Post.
Where are the nomad/party spots in Mykonos right now?
When I was there you just had to follow the music ๐Ÿ˜…
Not sure there are nomad spots
Some people tonight in Chani
:)
Chania
Lol, man there is no escape from the live music bar tonight
Hey guys! I will arrive in Athens at the end of the month. Any advices on the best neighborhood (quite, safe with good WiFi) or some coworkings/cafes/places to work from?
Would be greatly appreciated
i didn't find any cafes with power outlets that you can use, and no coworking spaces during my week there, if you're staying longer, maybe you can find some with more research, so good luck
This is so funny. Knowing greek culture they are so much about coffee shops but they use them heavilly for socialising, I dont remember ever seeing a greek have even their coffee alone even in the morning.
Starbucks should be a safe exception, as usual.
this one, although personally I have never beenย
Blue Bear, HBBH, 5 Dromoi, almost literally all cafes in Exarcheia donโ€™t have a problem with laptops and have free wifi
I've been working at The Cube while I've been here. Nice neighborhood and has 24 hour access
