Hey all ๐Ÿ‘‹ Iโ€™m currently looking into heading to Antigua in March. Had a few questions for folks that have spent some time there:
โ€ข I read mixed reports on the internet. I know itโ€™s not great, but is ~10mbps possible? I have to do Zoom video calls often, and need to be able to do that.
โ€ข How long is recommended for staying in Antigua? I was thinking somewhere between 2 and 4 weeks, and renting a motorcycle to head up to Lake Atitlan on one of those weekends.
โ€ข Howโ€™s safety in comparison to some other LatAm cities? Iโ€™ve been to Peru/Colombia (and soon Panama) so far.
โ€ข Personal recommendations for getting from the airport in Guatemala City to Antigua? Was thinking either Uber or finding a service.

Hey URSEE6LVBbr />not specialist but been in Antigua once. A few tips i kept:
โ€ข Impact Hub was pretty cool to work from, with good bandwidth ()
โ€ข 4G mobile network is everywhere, tethering is also a good backup option in case
โ€ข city is really safe
โ€ข I took a regular taxi from Airport in Guatemala City to Antigua โ€” canโ€™t remember the price, but didnโ€™t felt ripped off
โ€ข 2 to 4 weeks seems ok. Lake Atitlan is a must-see, even if quite touristy, but there are a lot of activities around (they were cool at Ox Expeditions goo.gl/maps/1FeYNFx7wFqG81tTA)br />โ€ข Food wise, donโ€™t miss goo.gl/maps/Bp9JfuuhqQo9nL5H7 and goo.gl/maps/oJ9ePeTLGfar15gS9br />โ€ข Best coffee in town goo.gl/maps/XjzQ4Es23EELZmDz8br />Hope it helps!

Hey zphcvfepudu hoping you can give some pointers on best coworking places in Antigua and the San Pedro/ San Marcos area? Potentially heading there next week and worried about WiFi. Any insight is much appreciated.

Hey ckppizyo for good/stable internet I would recommend Selina. Every Monday is free and if you get a membership it is not that exepensive

Another coworking is Impact Hub, internet is not as good as Selina but still okay (more that 5MB). The coworking setting in Impact Hub is much nicer but now sure about the community now. If you want to work for a coffee shop, I would recommend Fat Cat (good coffee) and Cafรฉ Belle Vista (best view and working place)

This info is only for Antigua Guatemala. Don't know much about other locations. Let's have coffee if you around. I will be around for another 2-3 weeks..

I will definitely hit you up when I get there! Thank you so much for the recommendations!

Hey qgpsxsnk I had a little bit of a hard time with internet in San Marcos but I found a hostel called Hostel del Lago that actually had a great connection. I didnโ€™t stay there but they didnโ€™t mind that I came and worked (especially if I ordered food or something). Itโ€™s an open air restaurant and bar area. It can be super loud โ€” not the best for meetings but by far the best internet I found in area.
