Wow what a let down that Orca site is. They have about 5 over priced properties lol. Does anyone know of any similar apps for month-by-month global stays?
dvpita 2mo
It has all the scam signals

He send me the prices and videos from the MDE ones, but oh boy this seems so overprices ๐Ÿ˜‚

Best small towns to spend winter in Latin America? Ideally cheap ish flights from NYC
dvpita 2mo
Pipa, Puerto Escondido, Sayulita
skynomia 2mo
I would be careful with those recs.
Sayulita basically mini America with big America prices
Puerto Escondido Very much under construction with minimal things to do. Found it quite boring after a few days
dvpita 2mo
You have better recs?
skynomia 2mo
You sound offended that I added some colour and context to the 4 words you posted
dvpita 2mo
How do I โ€œsound offendedโ€ by asking for better recs?

The man has asked for recs
skynomia 2mo
Youโ€™re very toxic, not sure if intentionally or not. But just because I added some context, albeit negatively, to your suggestions does not mean I am obliged to provide better suggestions. Very Andrew Tate-ish of you.

However if you insist, I would rec Oaxaca City, rather than Puerto and even though itโ€™s not a small town probably just Mexico City instead of Sayulita.
dvpita 2mo
So basically you have nothing to add regarding his question you just want to add ur opinion on things.

Got it.
skynomia 2mo
If you asked for advice on a location would it be helpful to get just the names of the places or some added information as to why they might be suitable to the initial request? You can do the faux aggro thing online, but you wouldnโ€™t in real life.

Hey everyone! Currently in US, planning on spending 5+ months in Latin America

At first I thought of Costa Rica and Belize
But sounds like Argentina/Mexico can be cheaper and or more convenient and also safer

I just want
warm + sunny
Beach (optional)
A social atmosphere (mixed locals and nomads)
Good infra (cashless preferred, good transit)
elemilion 2mo

4gnlex 2mo
If cashless then forget about Argentina, my experience early this year was paying with a foreign card is expensive (50-70% tax I'm not sure, but certainly significantly more than with a national card) so you end up having to bring dollar bills and exchange them for pesos
4gnlex 2mo
Having said that, the place is still nice for everything else and I'd recommend going soon because the next 6 months seem a little weird from a political/social perspective
nassim 2mo
mnpltfvg Could you tell me more about the sociopolitical stuff? Gonna look it up but would like your take as well.

Cashless is ideal but optional, won't be a dealbreaker.
I just don't like not having contacts to help me exchange my currency. But I guess banks are always an option.
nassim 2mo
Is Puerto Vallarta safe?
Anyone in Mexico rn want to share what it's like?
4gnlex 2mo
No worries, it's just that given soon-to-come elections and considering how south-american countries are, there's a chance things go wrong in October (albeit a small one)
nassim 2mo
Ah okay -- that's a small risk in many countries. I'll remain optimistic
Thanks for the insight though that's good to know

Hi all. I'm heading to El Salvador, and noticed that prices for accom is high in El Tunco. But I heard if you just show up you can shop around for cheaper rooms not found on Booking. Is that true? Thanks. My budget is around $15 a night... unless I land a new job (I'm a great writer) lol.

Very safe. PV is significantly structured around catering to middle-aged plus white Americans who want to safely drink Margaritas at the beach everyday.
nassim 2mo
I wonder if that makes it more expensive than other popular nomad MX destinations
dvpita 2mo
Itโ€™s not a nomad destination, itโ€™s a tourist destination

I knew about it. Medellรญn just has a lot of room for improvement when compared to mega cities like CDMX or NYC.
Interesting. Now you made me curious about CDMX ๐Ÿ‘€

CDMX is the cumbia version of NYC
knocte 2mo
the only issue is that the cheaper rooms won't have hot water

I guess I'm too old but I cannot get used to just using "room temperature" water for showering, despite the weather being hot
Hi everyone! Has anyone tried Outsite before in general? Was thinking of trying it in Costa Rica next year and would appreciate any insight. Also, benefits of Selina CoLive vs Outsite? Thanks!
davorb 2mo
i asked this question like a year ago. heard some horror stories and decided to stay away. itโ€™s good in some places and not so good in others.
luisgc93 2mo
Both are overpriced IMO. Owner-run colivings are the best. Selina and Outsite are more corporate-like
do you have any owner-run colivings you can recommend? I didnโ€™t easily find any in Rio
I can vouch for costa rica. Been there twice and there's a reason so many people build an expat life down there
Expensive! But, like any place, your experience will be dictated by the people you find. I went through this yearโ€™s Marrakesh earthquake with ten people from Outsite and I couldn't have chosen a better survival team. Bonded with most and making plans to see each other ๐Ÿ™‚
Do you guys know a direct flight from Europe to Honduras?
Or a one connection could be good ๐Ÿ˜…
Thanks guys! Iโ€™m planning on looking more into Outsite and probably local co-livings as well

Hey people, I am arriving to El Salvador this Sunday and I would like to know what is the best option to go from El Salvador Airport to El Tunco, La Libertad?
Does Uber works in there?

About 4G simcards, which Telcom operator has better signal in El Tunco?
lbopcdxjssdctiv I'd love to hear more about your experience in Marrakech, especially related to the earthquake. I'll be at that Outsite in less than a month!

<@U05TEAFU84W> I enjoy them, but I prefer a more chill laid back vibe. They are expensive, and I wait until they offer a good sale - which isn't super often but well worth it when they do! My trip to Marrakech will be the 3rd Outsite I've visited, and I'm planning to visit Portugal with them afterwards.
Oh wow I totally missed U03SLV5RTC2โ€™s message - would love to also hear more about your experience ๐Ÿ™‚

<@U0350AGG6PQ> Thatโ€™s amazing! Iโ€™d love to hear more about your experience with them - Iโ€™ll message you!

Hey beautiful people โ˜€๏ธ Anyone in Bariloche, Argentina right now?
nassim 1mo
Ah that probably makes it more expensive then haha
dvpita 1mo
I'm here! until next Tuesday
tony88 1mo
I did a bit of research on this. There are shuttle buses you can grab right from the airport down to El Tunco area. They are cheap. They leave regularly. But I would love to know more as well. Not sure about sim cards but I could use that info as well.
arthurfd 1mo
Hey gxmirkkq thanks for following up.
I checked and Uber works here, so I got one from the airport until El Tunco, it was around 30$, however is good to know that there are more affordable options, I might use on my way out.

About Sim Cards, looks like Claro is the best option here for the area, I got one and no problems, but I also got a nice wifi.
tony88 1mo
I'll be in El Salvador in early Dec if anyone wants to meet up. Then I plan to make my way to Nicaragua. I'm a single, 45 year old Youtuber, Copywriter, Author.
tony88 1mo
That's great. I found a private room on Airbnb for $15 usd a night but it seems pretty shit. How is acomodation there?
tony88 1mo
Are rooms easy to find on the ground. I could only find one place, on airbn at this price.
arthurfd 1mo
there are some options here in El Tunco / Sunzal, mostly hostels with shared rooms, but I personally like looking at Booking, because I have some discounts.
Recommended are The Cabins (its a container room with solid internet, and Papaya Lounge but I don't know their internet speed yet)
mikegwhit 1mo
so where did you end up
mikegwhit 1mo
hymakjrqgfxuhz would love to know more about the "entrepreneur ecosystem" since this fits me and i'd love to meet more people(!)
mikegwhit 1mo
i'd say outsite is expensive and brings in remote / office workers or people who for some reason only want to be around remote office workers.. most people i met through outsite are a mix between inspiring and maladaptive 20-somethings who slightly to outright annoy me.. super glad i did it for my first trip, would just stick to Selina coworks in future and avoid backpackers on my own..

i don't want a private gringo club in a foreign country

i also recommend against pura vida.. i was paying $900/month for cockroaches / monkeys shitting in our yard / constant rain / dengue fever / indoor-outdoor space / sadly lots of trash blown onto the beach / a bunch of cocaine and crack smoking Nicaraguans / over-priced pura vida and casado

i've had dreams of that place and just getting the hell out for a few weeks now.. it is as backwards as USA
Arriving today. Letโ€™s have a beer!
Daleeee! I'm down
nassim 1mo
Hey guys, do y'all prefer exchanging your USD to pesos in your own countries (USA for me) or locally?
When I go to North Africa I know people there in the gray market but since i dont know anyone in mexico idk if I should just go to a certain bank or what
detour888 1mo
Get a Schwab card and just withdraw from ATMs. You get a good rate and they reimburse all the atm fees.
rmmlcstr 1mo
It will be much cheaper in the currency's country
nassim 1mo
We're def doing the Schwab ATM route
So no reason to look elsewhere?

Finally in #mexico ! Loving PV so far (not even 24 hours yet)

Airport line was moving fast. Lady didnโ€™t even talk to us, just grabbed our passports and gave us the stamp.

Unsure if thatโ€™s May 3rd (would be 6 months) or March 5th (4 months).

Do you know what date format is used in Mexico?

Also, whatโ€™s your favorite sunscreen?
I think that in may 3rd!
cbilling 27d
May 3!
nassim 27d
Great! Thanks guys!
Where would be the most reliable place to confirm? I could ask a local policeman or something
cbilling 27d
All Mexico dates are done in the dd/mm/yyyy format so it would be very odd for the visa stamp to be different. No visa length is 4 months as far as I know, pretty much always 30, 90 or 180 days with a US passport at least.

But this link also talks about ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น />
If you really want to confirm in person go to the customs office or national police office in the airpot.

kogpsnqdhfn Just PM-ed you!
United has CDG to EWR, EWR to SAP. Air France has CDG to ATL, ATL to SAP. And there are many, many more options that fulfill your question.

"From Europe" is way too many options, so I picked Paris since your profile mentions France.
Sometimes same-language countries have more direct flights, so I checked Spain and found a Madrid to Honduras direct flight, 11 hours 40 minutes non-stop. Air Europa.
This was easy to find using Google Flights by the way, so you know where to look for future reference. Just put start and end locations, one way, and leave the dates blank and it will check for any options between those cities in the next six months.

For favorite sunscreen, please don't put on sunscreen and then immediately go swimming because it's "waterproof." This is called highly effective advertising. My favorite is whichever one is one sale, and I use it very sparingly. I don't think that stuff is very good for you.
I will be in Santiago, Chile for 5 days between Dec 23-28. Visiting the city for the first time. Would anyone have any recommendations for a STR (Airbnb?) or boutique hotel in a safe but bustling neighbourhood. Ideally close to public transit.
