any update on what happened last year?
are there still visible consequences?
Yes, I read, it seems it interested only 15km of coasts out of 350km
Anyone is there now?
What is the lockdown situation at the moment?
nzfzneolu I was there for 3 months till end of May and it was kind of brutal (I was allowed to go to supermarket twice a week only :) )

Also keep in mind that you need to spend 2 weeks in quarantine hotel (which could be a nice experience) for 14 days on arrival
uqmhqxu I read quarantine will not be needed any more since 1st October
Yup, but October 1 seems pretty far away :)
You never know what will happen meanwhile
Yes, true. So, did you experience the strict lockdown for the whole 3 months?
Or did it just start at the end of your staying?
I spent first two months in a strict lockdown (March and April). May got a bit better I could drive around the island freely, shops were open, restaurants available for takeaway. I could do some hiking.

Officially beaches and parks were off limits
I guess it wasnโ€™t the best context to experience the island. But overall, what was your impression? Would you recommend spending time there? Mainly, what about in terms of beaches beauty and cost of living?
ohegjmmuo overall itโ€™s a great island. Itโ€™s gorgeous and the nature is amazing. Definitely worth a visit.

Accommodation might be expensive in normal times particularly in โ€˜expatโ€™-friendly zones , but other than that itโ€™s all quite affordable and livable. A perfect spot for escaping winter :)
Great, thanks! I am planning to go there in October for 3 months
avjcuzc what do you think itโ€™s the best area to stay in Mauritius? I heard about Flic-en-Flac.
Ideally I am looking for a place with a nice beach and a few restaurants.
snxrchgck with limited experience that I had I would stick to the North. Much more things are happening, restaurants, shops, local life.

Flic en Flac seems more of tourist resorts โ€˜reservationโ€™. Iโ€™d be bored.

I stayed next to Mont Choisy beach and if I had to choose Iโ€™d stick to that area. Grand Baie, Pereybere, Trou-aux-Biche, Grand Gaube

Might be different though if you donโ€™t care about going out, meeting people, etc.
thanks USPB0JY0L! I just had a look, you are right! The area in the North feels like more the area where Iโ€™d like to stay
