But don't come here, the snow barely reaches here, if ur an advanced skier go to Andorra, way better slopes
tkzwjp8d
Really? Ok thanks!
grdvuzr8d
It hasn't snowed in almost 2 months, you can check the ratings online i think
ikkvpggnomgbimxz8d
Does anyone know why I've seen so many businesses, especially restaurants, in Spain that have very short open hours? A couple extreme cases are restaurants that I've only ever seen open two or three days over a six week period
zivqbzmqmgxfm8d
are they really only open a couple days or are they just closed for siesta when you go?
etqbsrjaibelvlnw8d
Only open a couple of days, we're out a lot
rcijfpn8d
quite normal, specially during low season
hymtsujiruclyebw8d
We call it a night pretty early by Spanish standards (10-11pm), but still enough to see normal operations
hszvtjx8d
Iโ€™m near Puigcerda, from Thursday to Sunday everything is open, the rest of the days is a ghost town
kaptmfwspgmqy8d
yeah. i've def seen places that are really only open on weekends on low season. it dosn't make sense to open the rest of the time.
bxklogzwkrlgkvpj8d
There's still rent to pay, I'm not getting how the business works
afyylixsjkilmcyi8d
Maybe there's a special arrangement about rent during the off season
whcudoq8d
they have 0 or very little business, itโ€™s more expensive to pay bills and electricity and employees
pvcyopzuddlwpurn8d
Strangely, in one of the great ironies of the world, the Italians in Spain have longer working hours and are open when the posted times say so ๐Ÿ˜‚
czxlfzjzeymmftzb8d
I guess business is good enough in season to save for rent for the rest of the year ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ
mbnzpwa8d
immigrants always work double the locals, everywhere
cbugimaxymoce8d
pay rent or pay rent + utilities + food waste + employees standing and doing nothing...
xubizreyzcrjxrxj8d
The math makes sense, and it makes me wonder how the business is viable at all unless in season is amazing
ygejluatfrkpxdmq8d
There's a local everything store called Suerte Suerte run by a Chinese family - never closes
avnnfhp8d
the 3-4 days they are open pays the bills during low season, high season they make some money.
ofcourse weโ€™re talking about normal restaurants, thereโ€™s a spectacular argentinian restaurant here that only closes 1 day per week and itโ€™s always full
fwwmthafwmaagatk8d
Another store run by a British hippie, also always open so seems you're right
tbpowpb8d
itโ€™s the same in every country, immigrants go away to work, not to be at home
hcpnqnlocqoucnyj8d
Having worked with Italian teams in tech over the years, it's still funny to me that an Italian restaurant is more industrious than a local Spanish business ๐Ÿ˜
vtfchlq8d
ahaahahah, i know the feeling ๐Ÿ˜‚
lgkduxfcvfjhxryt8d
Just getting an Italian on the phone before 10am their time... Good luck with that
qwaoewv8d
italians V polish, the difference is mind blowing
farqkngmqdaahwde8d
I'm a HUGE fan of central European countries. They kick some serious ass
faiscmceyexsasai8d
I will not be surprised to see Poland challenging Germany in the next 30 years
woxsrtd8d
if it werenโ€™t for the retarded politicians Iโ€™d 100% agree with u
mpnicspwvsxxikig8d
Are there any subsidies for tourist businesses given by the Spanish government?
czhixdy8d
no idea
dladio8d
gulwcygo ski season? ๐Ÿ˜›
mayemksba8d
Headed there March 9th. May be interested for two weeks
bxvlqwf7d

xoijdsp7d
bcsaywl7d

strxuqwhypxsaucej Yup, that seems normal from my experience. I am in a beachy place right now where 90% of the locales are closed until Feb or June. Although in the city I haven't seen that to be the case - just the normal split schedule which is also a bit annoying (closing between 14:30 and 17:30). And too many things closed on Sundays as usual haha.
krtqie7d
My beef is with places here not providing seasonal schedules so I can atleast know if they will open at any point during the week - it's more like you need to _know_ what is open in off season by passing by frequently enough to see the door open. ๐Ÿ™„ ๐Ÿ˜‚
vmiod7d
Hola folks! In Madrid, booking flights. Wanna head to Tenerife. 1st Iberia to Las Palmas and Canary Fly to Tenerife. Then RyanAir back. Thoughts?:)
dirykbk7d
also google maps is not helpful at all during this season because the schedule is all over the place
japvhismovy7d
Yeah, eating out in Spain is a... learned thing
oosfs7d
I had lunch today at 16, and at 12:30 a few days ago. Where do you go U02SYJFDZ?
jelunhp7d
small towns, not big cities .
in barcelona u can also have lunch at whatever time u want, try coming to la molina, alp, puigcerda ๐Ÿ˜„
voupw7d
too cold for me ๐Ÿ˜ฌ
fghsvmd7d
meh, not really.
I hate the cold but here is very dry, a jacket and ur good.
during the day is 15 degrees.
at night though -5 ๐Ÿ˜‚
vtkgiackfemwy7d
-5... pass
vdhfvko7d
itโ€™s not nice during the night, but during the day is amazing.
super sunny, not that cold, amazing views all around
gkxmhvg7d
Iโ€™ve never been so active in my life, every day I go to the gym and jacuzzi + walks around the mountain
yuuecgo7d
Iโ€™m really digging it
lubftsh7d
at night fireplace + sofa + hot tea
korbwu7d
I read "i've never been so active in my life" and "jacuzzi" together ๐Ÿ˜‚
setlvp7d
yeah it's nice up there
fdboue7d
this winter is being specially warm, I "hope" january and february will be colder
wgqgcyr7d
February is always colder in my experience, but the locals here claim the winter is done here
huflad7d
definitely february and march also has a super cold week always
ozvwqvm7d

liuisrd7d

mwvaixw6d
This is a joke :joy::joy:

hmm it's one of my dream projects (that I have donne absolutely no work towards), to start a coworking or such in my mum's hometown, not too far from Puigcerdร
livvke6d
with spectacular views and such, but I am afraid noone would visit it
jiytsc6d
ngdgjoun genuinely curious, what took you to Puigcerdร  in winter when you don't seem (correct me if I'm wrong) to be particularly interested in winter sports?
ouowiseopoaw5d
pm me closer to the time
xtottxkajdy5d
It should be nice a catalan Bansko.
jhjqxggyykbjxdkc5d

vklvpda just arrived in Santander, #spain
idheqg2d
dwrbky does anyone know which are the nicest neighbourhoods in/near Santander?
ylbtjkpex2d
I'll be in Tenerife soon, any recommendations on which area to stay at in Santa Cruz? I'm probably getting a car to get around.
obdwjwpgqbqf2d
in that case it's probably fine anywhere
tolyqsavedcu2d
not a huge city
sppdphhhqgrn2d
what's important to you? distance to local amenities or peace and quiet?
uvnglpfqhqce2d
I also have a room available
srsztmctp2d
It'd be nice to have a few places to go eat by walking. Would prefer not in the party center, if a place like that exists there. Not sure if possible but somewhere I can get to the sea easily or at least see it. ivswoxnnjiapo can you send me the details of your room?
xinhyolbe2d
Will be there at beginning of March looking for same. Let me know if you find any good locations!
