Hello everyone,
I had the impression that hte draper house is not available for public but only for invited startup (teams)?
I'm also looking for a coliving option, prefereably with coworking but i was not lucky so far. please update me if you find anyhting! ๐Ÿ™‚
I gave up from Instambul for these next months, I will gonna wait for another opportunity to do a better research or go with a group of friends or nomads. Instead I will go to Athens staying in a Selina.
OK. so istanbul seems to be "dead" ... no really good options
Draper is open for everyone you dont have to be just a startup

Beware. Don't buy a sim from the Vodafone shop at the Istanbul airport. It's a scam, we paid for 50Gb and only got 20gb
Just arrived in Antalya. Here till 23rd morning. Let me know if you're doing another drinks meet up before then
zobvqzhh - I'm
Just leaving but rhupjmhh is still here!
Hey anyone down to do a quad bike safari tour in antalaya
What's happening in Istanbul? Any meetups?
How do you know that you only got 20? (I bought from Vodafone at the airport too btw)
Have you got any details on it? I'm traveling with a friend. I'll see if he's keen on it
I didn't until I got a text a week after I'd used 80% of my GB
Text โ€œOzetโ€ to 7000 and see if it works for you
I am pretty flexible on time. I am flying out on the 24th.
I am looking at one at the Taurus Mountains. It's 3 hours total. Slack is not letting me post links. Which sucks
Keen, shall we do it on the 21st? Are you able to DM a link for me and my friend to book as well
Or here's my local number โ€ชโ€ฌ
Hi all, do the local taxis in Antalya do drop offs to the Airport? I need to pick someone up from the airport
๐Ÿ›ฌ uwzhhtwj just arrived in ๐Ÿ– Istanbul, #turkey
moaeogwiqlbwbhdj keen for this?
yeah, in Turkish airports sims are x5-x10 often
I don't mind over paying a little to get connected soon. But saying you'll give 50Gb and only giving 20GB is straight up just a scam - that Vodafone store has like 1 star on google reviews and I'm surprised Vodafone is still letting in operate
I mean, you could look into airalo and esims. This way you can get connection immediately and don't have to overpay
> But saying you'll give 50Gb and only giving 20GB is straight up just a scam
the problem is that 20Gb is for internet and other 30Gb might be for facebook, instagram, whatsapp, etc. You need to read the fine print. It's the way operators work and advertise their data allowance in many countries. I believe Turkey is one of them
Airloo is still Min 2x more expensive than the airport offers in all countries we've been too. No fine print missed, another Vodafone store confirmed they don't even have a 50GB plan to offer for travelers welcome pack. But because they are franchised stores they were basically useless to resolve the issue
Airloo is pricy as we often need 30+GB for each country
I use airalo to get immediate connectivity when landing and then buy a local sim without rush on my terms if I stay for a long time ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ
I rarely had good experience buying SIMs at airport at virtually all the countries I've been to so I try to avoid it. The only exception was Vietnam where getting SIM at the airport was actually pretty easy and the price was good and package was as advertised
Yeah luckily we have had it quite well except this occasion and I've never found a good deal for 100gb or unlimited GB on eSIMs online so unfortunately we have to stick to airport hunting. Hoping rest of Europe will be better
Asia was great. Got unlimited data hassle free everytime
in EU there's a common zone so hopefully you'll just have to do it once for almost all of Europe
Yeah let's do it
Anyone in Kas for few days and wanna meetup?
It's been pretty happening here. Check out the โ€˜Istanbul Digital Nomads Facebook groupโ€™
What is life like in Atalya? Is it about beaches? Cafe's? Hiking? Museums?
Yh. They airport is not too far from the city center. Just 15 mins
Make sure they switch on the meter.

Is this still a thing to be able to enter Turkey?

I have a flight on saturday to Istanbul and not sure if I still need to fill that out.
nope, not anymore
What do you think about Izmirโ€™s digital nomadโ€™s scene? Has anyone tried kitesurfing nearby this region?
I am heading from Dikili to Canakkale to learn kitesurfing. If I have time in September I will go to Gรถkova to kitesurf. I will keep you posted when I find/see communities/options around Izmir
thank you jjudjkl I can also share the telegram chats that I have found out nearby Izmir. Are there any coliving options in the area?
I was in Izmir last October. I did not find much of a DN scene - though I did not look very hard. The non-local population seems to be more people there for just a few days as they visit the big archaeological sites and other regional attractions.
Thanks! The Antalya taxis are really good
Ah sorry guys i missed this one. Iโ€™m flying out of 1st of July.
Is air conditioning is important when you look for a room in istanbul? I made some room tour today, every house was too much hot to work in. I dont know if this is a special case or need to find one with a/c
Depends where your apartment is positioned. I've stayed in some friendsโ€™ apartments that were cool even in the summer due to being north facing or over shadowed by taller buildings. The word for a/c in Turkish is _klima_ which is easy to remember because it sounds like โ€˜climateโ€™
If I recall correctly simply ask โ€œ klima var mฤฑ?โ€ to ask โ€œIs there a/c?โ€
Yes, summers get pretty hot, youโ€™d want air conditioning to be comfortable
I would say โ€˜yesโ€™. It does get hot in summer. You're gonna want it when you get home from an afternoon walking around town
UMZJ9DB3Rbr /> cannot answer DMโ€™s yet, so I am replying you here.

I know only kitesurfing chats for Izmir (Russian language), but I am sure that there is auto translate feature there.

Other chats in TG are related to getting citizenship.

Would love to know any tips for scuba diving agencies youโ€™d see/ recommend that are great
Are you diving?
Hey lads, anybody up for a drink tonight in Kadikoy?
Most scuba diving agencies I email near Kas or Antalya - respond, but not in English - do any of you have expereicnes with any english speaking team that you would recommend? Thanks in advance
dove with Nautilus Diving in Kas, they speak English
Some of us might be meeting tonight, not confirmed yet, will let you know once I have more details.
I do but skipped diving in Kas - had a limited time to stay there. Seems kas probsbly the most popular destination for scuba diving, not sure though if diving spots are comparable to ones in South East Asia. Might be good place if someone wanna do some underwater wreak diving (battle aircraft, tank)
Awesome thanks fsnkmdqd ๐Ÿ™Œ
Thank you guys! It is not easy to find that condition. I will try ๐Ÿ˜Ž
For a return for everyone's help, I want to share a person's contact for whom find a room in Kadikoy. She has more than 30 rooms ranging from 180euros to around 350. I talked with many hosts and found out she is the best and fastest wayz Also her rooms are nicely located. Tell her your needs she will try to meet your needs. Leave her contact here :)

Thanks thdsezebp ! Do you have a picture of the rooms by any chance? Or a website?
Oh, she will send you a brochure. You can ask what she has at the moment
Got it thanks!

Yep! The police presence is crazy right now
There's supposed to be a pride event and the police are shutting it downโ€”they're very anti gay out here I guess
Hey everyone, I was in Istanbul last year and left but Iโ€™m coming back in late July. I was also considering Izmir. Is there a nomadic scene in Izmir? Any WhatsApp groups to connect with nomads there? Has anyone been there as a nomad and can share their experience? Thanks!
Hi jkyiezeqgh sorry but I donโ€™t do scuba diving unfortunately so I wonโ€™t be able to help ๐Ÿ˜”
We are staying until the 11th July btw
I've found a really nice and quite cafe in Kadikoy, it looks like a library inside. If anybody needs a place to work from I highly recommend it
Rรผzgargรผlรผ Kitap Kafe

I'm currently in Izmir but only for few days. At first glance probably not many nomads here. There is small nomadic scene in Antalya but still not that big as Istanbul.
I like locals in Izmir more, more friendly and patient (I am from Izmir though have been outside of the country the last 20 years). It is also very close to beach towns.
Nomadic scene as pzolt said not there yet unfortunately.
klima definitely comes from โ€˜climateโ€™ U025ZUTK4MV;)
I am in Izmir too for a few weeks, I donโ€™t think there are many nomads here. And I will be away in 2 weeks tooโ€ฆ But Izmir is a beautiful city and cheaper than Istanbul in general I think.
Thanks for the insight guys. Is there anything to do in Izmir, I did some research and there isn't much except for like some ancient ruins outside the cityโ€ฆ and Cesme/ Alacati are super expensive right now
I found Antalya a little bit more interesting - you have only one cowork (work c) - so most nomads will be there instead of spread-out. Also itโ€™s not that far away to take a bus to Olimpos, Cirali, Kas, Fethiye, Pamukkale. Antalya also has more accessible beach, waterfall(s), - in Izmir you will have to drive ~1h to the nearest beach. Still probably donโ€™t expect as big nomad crowd/events as in Istanbul.
need a car in izmir to really enjoy the city and surrounding countryside/beaches (which is the best part)

Anyone in Istanbul want to grab lunch?
I'm free this afternoon,Where are you based? I'm in Kadikoy.
I'm in Sisli but would also be down for lunch sometime. I think we'll have to schedule it though since we're scattered around the city.
You guys up to do tomorrow or Friday then? I'm a little east of Galata Tower (not sure the district). You guys know any good spots?
