I am not sure where some of these “stats” came from but Liberia is an English speaking country though many people speak a form of West Indian slang. It is not a good habit to go into a country for a short time, associate w/a small group who don’t represent the majority and write slanted comments from your limited perspective.

Streets are made of dirt. Horses still pull carts. Very little English spoken. You cannot easily find things you need so bring all your necessities to start with. I have barely seen a street light, the traffic can be unbelievable. It's the perfect place for a real cultural experience and to learn wolof and French. You almost have no choice but to when here. From the airport to getting settled in. Everyone is so helpful and warm hearted. Cost of living is very reasonable - 5€ to eat at a restaurant (fish, sides, wine and dessert). I highly recommend making contact with a local taxi driver. Its easy to set up a daily agreement for your time on the island. Spending 5€ a day to be taken into town and back to airbnb. I am sure you could get it much much cheaper but I was happy to pay a bit more

It's beautiful, and there are plenty of touristy things to do, however the city is very expensive. There are plenty of places to shop, which is the main reason why I went. There are also plenty of WeWorks scattered across the city if you need somewhere consistent to work. The people weren't rude to me, but that's because I always greet people in French before asking for help or information, so to avoid rudeness, I'd suggest learning basic greetings and how to ask

We live in Hill Country now so we're a bit removed. But it's beautiful area once you get away from the highways. A good tech scene. It's a lot more expensive now (2020) than posted. 1-bdr in center is $3,500-$4,000 + $200-$300 for parking + $100-$200 for utilities. Almost impossible to find month-to-month rent, so this is for 1-year lease. Coffee for two + a pastry is easily $20. Dinner for two never less than $50, unless it's fast food (+20% tips are expected) and if you want actually something good it's at least $100 for two. Airbnb is $1
