Porto Alegre (POA) is a city brimming with beautiful Nature. Trees and birds galore. Unfortunately, there is much wasted potential where historical architecture and intelligent zoning are concerned. I've traveled throughout Brazil and lived in Sao Paulo, and I can attest that POA has the best food hands down. Customer service is top notch, and the shopping is good. Love the vintage stores and antique shops too. Sunsets on the lake are a treasure. Gauchos are the most "talkative" people I've ev

Many parks, and things to do. The best neighborhoods are Centro (near Shopping Estacao) and Batel (near Praca Japao). You can do everything on foot. Everything is cheap by European standards. The nightlife is very good, Latin America standard. Women are beautiful. Security is okay in these neighborhoods, but be aware. English speaking is only possible with young people or some adults. This is a beautiful place with nice sandy beaches. There are plenty of places to go hiking and beaches to go relax at. Even with the pandemic, you can still visit some beaches. Was here for January 2022. It was very nice. It's a very European city with South American vibes. Due to high inflation, it's cheap. The steak is the best I've ever eaten. Go to AreaTres for coworking. Bring cash (EUR or USD) in large bills. Otherwise, you'll have to pay by card and get the official exchange rate, which is 50% of what you get on the black ("blue") market. There are many places to exchange cash. There are so many different places such as parks, lakes, hills, mountains, beaches, etc. Also, you can feel the Californication vibe on every step. I guess if you're a nomad this doesn't matter much, but the long-term job pickings here are slim and among the most underpaid for a US city. There seems to be a tacit rent floor that means you won't find a good deal on housing. A lot of people don't seem very invested in their interpersonal relationships here since their ties to the area are often transient.

Best city in Spain. Weather is great even in December and the clubbing scene is fun. There's lots to do and it's a beautiful city overall. You have to watch out for pickpockets but as long as you aren't leaving things unattended or obviously in your pockets you'll be fine.
