My main concern with Chisinau is that there is basically only one decent coffee shop in town, namely the Tucano coffee. This means you'll be drinking their lousy coffee at all times, and after a week or so the city is slightly depressing to be honest. However, there are nice affordable Soviet-style cantines all around the city, so you can eat well for less than US$3. Hostels are also OK.

I was desperate to find any place that was not run down by tourists. There is virtually almost no cafe that is suitable to work from, as they are overcrowded by hordes of tourists, families, people drinking. I had a hard time. I booked in advance for 1 entire month in light of other reviews I saw, but this was my mistake. I would not recommend this for someone who is trying to be productive. The atmosphere is way too much 'vacation' style and reminds m
