I was thinking of living in Quito for a few months. Anybody have any experience there?
I’ve spent a couple months there last year… It’s a pretty nice place. What exactly would you like to know?
Basically I was looking for a safe place that I can work from my computer, preferably during the day at local cofee shops. I am thinking for a few months.
I was just there.
My impressions: amazing place, full of culture, really impressed mostly.
But still kind of shifty. Wouldn’t feel comfortable walking around at night with my laptop.
Cuenca was way nicer and more comfortable, small town feel, more expats.

You will need to use Spanish here so it is a great place to learn. Locals are very patient with novice speakers. The city has many green spaces and weekend travel to the Pacific region and Coffee country is possible as well as inexpensive flights to other major cities in Colombia. Salsa is king here so it is worth taking lessons, as this is a major part of the city's nightlife. You can live quite cheaply here but expect foreign or imported fo

Apart from that, Andorra is a ski/mountain town. There are also some great spas & thermal baths. In the past years, a lot of rich DNs moved there from Spain to establish residence and take advantage of the tax breaks. It's a bit on the expensive side, I'd recommend it if you want to escape Barcelona for a few days. In COVID times, there were almost no cases or restrictions.
