Do you own or have a long-term lease in any these cities?

by @nomadicpad | 6yr  | 3 comments

Hi guys!

Iโ€™m trying to compile a list of all the property owner nomads, especially the one in enticing nomad destinations.

I know a few of us out there are trying to solve this mid-term housing problem for the community (@atu, @levelsio) , and I thought itโ€™s best to open this market up so we can solve things quicker.

Would love to hear from property owners, people who are in long-term rental agreements and would want to rent for 1-3 months while traveling:

Specifically looking for housing in these locations:
Barcelona
London
Berlin
Amsterdam
Bali
Chiang Mai
Bangkok
Hong Kong
Taipei
New York
San Fran
Austin
Mexico City
Medellian
Buenos Aires

My place is available on AirBnB. Iโ€™m mostly in Jakarta lately and renting out 1st floor of my place in Bali. Itโ€™s pretty much outfitted for nomads (internet, whiteboards, printer, flipoverchart etc.).

Hey Mandy! Just wanted to repost with my own specifications because Iโ€™m building a marketing place for Nomad apts. and want to find people in these exact cities.

Do you have the other post though, maybe there is some overlap. Thanks!

Post Covid Tour Trip: Any Ideas ? Who Joins?

by @boccaccio | 18h 17 hours ago | 0 comments

I can't help thinking of making a trip after this annoying virus. A road trip, boat trip, bike, foot, anything..

Any ideas? Any tips? and Anyone who would like to join or co-organize?

It could be for example, to travel in several Countries and being hosted (when possible) by some other members.

Or renting a van and making a long road trip

Or even by bike, an entire Country

Where should I set up my company as a remote worker?

by @beloruchka | 4d 3 days ago | 7 comments

Iโ€™m looking for any recommendations for services or people others have used to get answers on the best place to set up their businesses based on their personal circumstances.

Leaning towards Singapore after a ton of research, but would really like some concrete advice before jumping in.

Appreciate it!

What's the best thing to do with your phone/ your phone number when travelling?

in Poland by @davda1546 | 13d 13 days ago | 6 comments

Hey, hope everyone is well!

We're leaving in a month to go travelling. Our first destination is still to be confirmed, but will likely be Poland or Slovakia. We will be moving around every month or two to different destinations.

The question we have is: what do people do with phones/ phone numbers when hopping from country to country? Ideally we'd just like one number for the whole trip (even better, the number we already have) wherever we go, rather than getting new SIMs with different numbers.

This is just so it's easier to keep in contact with family/ clients/ etc.

Where do I get good legal advice/support to have a long-term stay?

in Lisbon, Portugal by @mzorrilla | 1mo 1 month ago | 1 comment

Hello, everyone!

My idea is to stay as low as 6 months and as long as a year (maybe, who knows) over Lisbon after doing some analysis from many cities in Europe.

I'm an Argentinian and Chilean (both nationalities) so... no Euro-pass for me (getting my Italian nationality could take 2 years easily). I'm also a remote worker and I have a really good income (I work for a Silicon Valley company) so I can show more than enough resources to stay in the country.

Everything I see online doesn't inspire me much confidence (most sites looks a bit scammy) and this is not a "vacation stay"... I want to be clear my head far away from Argentina right now. If someone has a good website, recommendations, etc I will super appreciate.

Thanks in advance!

Staying outside major cities?

by @malaclypse | 1yr 1 year ago | 7 comments

My question is about the actual experience of staying outside of major cities, as well as where/how (on this site or elsewhere) to search to find questions and discussions about the same.

Sometimes I like being in the big city, but sometimes I like being away from it. For many people with โ€œregular jobsโ€ you have little choice but to be in a big metro area since thatโ€™s where the jobs are; for me, part of the appeal of considering DN is sometimes being able to work someplace quiet, remote, secluded and beautiful- rather than a concrete jungle.

Iโ€™m curious whoโ€™s actually done stuff like this. Because while it sounds great, I could also imagine all sorts of unpredictable problems that might not be an issue when one is way off the beaten path that wouldnโ€™t come up if one were in a big metro area.

Lisbon vs Barcelona for mid- to long-term stay: any advice?

in Lisbon, Portugal by @tvrhe | 4yr 4 years ago | 24 comments

Hi guys,

From this spring onwards Iโ€™m returning to Europe and Iโ€™m looking to either set up a home base in Lisbon or Barcelona. Any fellow nomads who can share their experiences of living in either of those cities?

Iโ€™ve only been to Barcelona and I like the vibe a lot. Major downside is the tourists (obviously).

To me it seems that both cities have good infrastructure, internet, climate (mediterranean), nightlife, culture, food, beaches (and Lisbon is good for surfing as well of course). Price wise, Lisbon is obviously a bit cheaper.

One important consideration is the public transport. Since Iโ€™m not looking to rent a car I prefer the city where I can travel on foot, bike or metro.

Based on my limited info, itโ€™s hard to pick one. Any advice would be very much appreciated!

Is getting a work visa then quitting a possibility to stay long-term? (For Colombia)

in Colombia by @matthieudrula | 5yr 4 years ago | 0 comments

In Colombia, I have heard people telling me that once you have a work visa you can enter and not care about what happen if you get fired.
Unlike the USA where if you lose your job, you are *****ed.
Is it a possibility to get a job, get in, open a bank account(not sure if thatโ€™s a good idea since itโ€™s not going to receive a consistent flow of cash from a Colombian company), then quit and work as a freelance remote.

Which country is the best place for a long-term stay?

by @que | 5yr 5 years ago | 5 comments

Iโ€™m interested in finding a country which would easily offer a 1 or 2 year visa for an American tech worker, has good health care and housing.
