Meetups in Berlin

in Berlin , Germany by @innaboch 8yr  | 6 comments

Are there regular meetups for Nomads in Berlin? I will be spending a month in Berlin and would like to meet and get to know the community. I had a great experience in Ubud, Bali (meetups, workshops, idea exchanges etc) and looking for something similar in Berlin. Any thoughts and ideas?

Thank you,
Inna

I find most of the meetups on https://meetup.com, especially tech-related.

The advantage of the betahaus is though, that the cafรฉ is free of charge (you can rent a quiet place upstairs).

The weather is not really good anymore, but sometimes itโ€™s cheaper to get around with the scooters than public transportation ( https://www.emio-sharing.de / https://www.joincoup.com/ )

If you have an iOS device, this app might also be helpful: http://workhardanywhere.com/

Hi Inna,

There are many meetups, workshops, and events for nomads in Berlin. Also, check the coworking spaces when you are here. Reach out and we can meet for an exchange, if you like.

Cheers,
Gerhard

Thank you, Gerhard. I am staying in Mitte area, any coworking spaces you would recommend in the area. I noticed that Betahaus has a good program and community, but it might be a bit far for me, any others?

Donโ€™t worry, it is all very accessible and public transport is great. Betahaus is just off the U8 subway stop โ€œMoritzplatzโ€.

In Mitte, you have the well-known St. Oberholz, a cafรฉ with adjacent coworking space right at Rosentalerplatz. A few weeks ago, they opened a second space 5 min away. If you prefer it a bit quieter, across the street of St. Oberholz is Fabisch/Circus Cafe.

Close to FriedrichstraรŸe is the โ€œBasecampโ€, a cafe/coworking space from Telefonica. You can just show up and get a coffee and work. There are also more upscale coworking spaces which usually require a monthly membership, Thereโ€™s a new one at Hackescher Markt. Thereโ€™s Mindspace close to โ€œStadtmitteโ€. Those are the ones I visited so far, youโ€™ll easily find more.

What features would you like to see on Nomad List?

by @levelsio 3yr 3 years ago  | 3 comments

Hi everyone,

I would love to hear what you'd like me to build next on Nomad List, or any other product/feature feedback ideas you have.

It's been 6+ years now but I'm in this for the long term and with the boost remote work got last year it's even more exciting to work on Nomad List than ever.

Current roadmap is here: twitter.com/levelsio/status/1363204985488572417?s=20 and pbs.twimg.com/media/EusS9PKXEAUR8xp?format=jpg&name=4096x4096

The next products/features I have planned:

- ๐Ÿ›‚ Rebase: visa, residency and immigration services for remote workers

- ๐ŸŽ“Courses: learn the steps how to go remote and travel/relocate

- ๐Ÿ› Gov liaison: diplomacy services to the governments to help us lobby for nomads and for them to attract remote workers

Thanks a lot!

List of Visa/Residency Information in Table/Spreadsheet format?

by @innovatelife 3yr 3 years ago  | 2 comments

As part of signing up for this website I was hoping I would come across a list of Visa and/or Residency requirements by country ideally in a table format to assist with decision making. Does anybody recommend any other websites that might present the information in this format (or Google Spreadsheet)?

Most Walkable Neighborhood / City In The World ?

by @dannybooboo 3yr 3 years ago  | 1 comment

I love living in walkable areas of town. I can always find them. But now I'm wondering where in the world are the most walkable places? I'm imagining walk streets (no cars), zoning allowing both business and residential, parks or beaches ,etc.

Any nomads in Arizona, US?

in Netherlands by @info132 3yr 3 years ago  | 4 comments

Hi guys,

After the Netherlands, the Bay Area, Colorado and being on the van life for 8 months, I am now in Sedona, AZ with a few other digital nomads. We are sharing a home here and are wondering if there are more like minded people in the area.

We do a bunch of hikes and campouts in the northern of Arizona. If you would like to connect with us, please do so :)

Are there any tax issues I have to be aware of?

in Germany by @clara 3yr 3 years ago  | 0 comments

Hi everybody. I live and work in Germany and want to go to Canary Islands for 6 months to work from there. I'm going to keep my current job, just change the "home" in the home office part of things. Are there any tax issues I have to be aware of? I was reading about becoming a residence after 183 days, thus having to pay taxes there plus my employer having to register there. Does anybody know how it works exactly? Thanks a lot!

Is anyone travelling right now?

by @viktor 3yr 3 years ago  | 3 comments

Winter is coming and Iโ€™m feeling the ache of travelling after being stuck in the same place since the Pandemic started. Wondering if anyone is travelling right now? If so, where are you currently located and how is the situation where you are?

Recommendation for English Speaking GP in Berlin?

in Berlin , Germany by @tammy 6yr 6 years ago  | 0 comments

Hello! I am looking for an English speaking GP in Berlin who can write a prescription for schedule 1 medication. Currently I am in Northern Ireland who have a very complicated medical system, which is not Digital Nomad friendly! I would like to make an appointment with a GP who can help me ASAP. Thanks!

Digital Nomad for Refugees in Germany - Any ideas?

in Germany by @wasabi 7yr 7 years ago  | 3 comments

Hi Iโ€™m Japanese<>English Translator/Blogger currently lives in Leipzig,Germany.

I was wondering if any of you know any websites/services for refugees and immigrants that support them to be a Digital Nomad? Like, seminars, courses, lectures, guides, e-book in their language (Arabic,Albanian,Serbian,Kurdish,Pashto,Dari, etcโ€ฆ)?

I know some platforms for refugees to find a job online, but these jobs are not mainly location free works. Iโ€™m wondering how realistic it is for refugees to work remotely? I am thinking to list up the Upwork type of online job platforms on my blog, and accordingly do some seminars ; how to get jobs, how to monetize your blog and so onโ€ฆ

Iโ€™m asking this because lots of refugees I meet here are all complaining how hard for them to get a physical job in Germany, especially my area Leipzig has less job opportunities in general. (Thus, cost of living is amazing for DN like me.) So, I think going DN could be a good solution for them. What do you think?

Are there Nomad List meetups in Bogota or Medellin?

in Medellรญn , Colombia by @dcodyschm 8yr 8 years ago  | 10 comments

Iโ€™m currently looking to go to one of the two cities in the upcoming months (or both!) to do research for a documentary. Are there any shared workspaces or meet-ups for nomad anyone recommends? Iโ€™d love to interview people who have been living there for a while and do a bit of networking. For you veterans, whatโ€™s the best way to go about this?

Best co-working spaces in Berlin?

in Berlin , Germany by @magalhini 9yr 9 years ago  | 10 comments

Hi there!
Iโ€™m about to finally make a move from London to Berlin and Iโ€™ll be staying around Kreuzberg/Neukรถlln. Iโ€™ve noticed a great selection of co-working spaces around there, which is great! But most of them donโ€™t actually give too many details on what they can offer and what the environment is like.

Any personal recommendations from you Berliners out there? Which ones get the busiest? Any particular ones to avoid? Ideally Iโ€™d find a floating desk with a great community around; I love socialising around co-working spaces so that would be a big plus

Most of them also seem to open at 9am only, I couldnโ€™t find any so far that would be open before. Suggestions?

Thanks! I hope to see some of you around Berlin starting from August

Anyone lived in Nuremberg, or can compare it to Munich?

in Munich , Germany by @dhamm 9yr 9 years ago  | 4 comments

Iโ€™m trying to decide between these 2 Bavarian destinations for the next stop. Nuremberg has a higher rating on NomadList, probably because of the price difference, but has anyone actually lived in this city or can offer some insight in comparison to Munich?

Interested in knowing if there is any tech scene there, how the coworking spaces are, the type of feel the city has, etc.
