Freight-forwarding company in the US that also does storage space rental?

by @fuzzybabybunny 8yr  | 2 comments

I currently use Shipito and Iโ€™m pretty happy with their service. I have all my mail sent to my Shipito locker in Oregon and when I want it theyโ€™ll consolidate everything into one box and ship it out to me where ever I may be for a good price. Iโ€™ve even used it to get stuff I order from Amazon whilst abroad.

The problem is that they donโ€™t offer item storage. There are some things that I want to store in my locker indefinitely / just in case I need them sent out to me.

Example:

Winter equipment / clothes. I want to store this stuff at the freight-fowarding company and have them sent out to me when I need it. When I donโ€™t need it anymore, Iโ€™ll send it back for storage to the freight-forwarding company. Rinse and repeat as needed.

Any recommendations for companies available in the US, preferably with lots of warehouses, especially ones in Oregon or Nevada?

If Shipito is so, good, then why do they have such crappy reviews and no rating from the Better Business Bureau? I also Googled for their insurace, and this is what I got, from their most loyal customers, commenting on Shipitoโ€™s very own forum, hosted on their domain.

You may want to try a company called Stackry for BBB ratings and SiteJabber reviews.

shrugs

Been using them for four years now. In the beginning their UX was kind of a mess and not user-friendly at all, but now it seems ok. Iโ€™ve never had any major issues with them.

What features would you like to see on Nomad List?

by @levelsio 3yr 3 years ago  | 3 comments

Hi everyone,

I would love to hear what you'd like me to build next on Nomad List, or any other product/feature feedback ideas you have.

It's been 6+ years now but I'm in this for the long term and with the boost remote work got last year it's even more exciting to work on Nomad List than ever.

Current roadmap is here: twitter.com/levelsio/status/1363204985488572417?s=20 and pbs.twimg.com/media/EusS9PKXEAUR8xp?format=jpg&name=4096x4096

The next products/features I have planned:

- ๐Ÿ›‚ Rebase: visa, residency and immigration services for remote workers

- ๐ŸŽ“Courses: learn the steps how to go remote and travel/relocate

- ๐Ÿ› Gov liaison: diplomacy services to the governments to help us lobby for nomads and for them to attract remote workers

Thanks a lot!

List of Visa/Residency Information in Table/Spreadsheet format?

by @innovatelife 3yr 3 years ago  | 2 comments

As part of signing up for this website I was hoping I would come across a list of Visa and/or Residency requirements by country ideally in a table format to assist with decision making. Does anybody recommend any other websites that might present the information in this format (or Google Spreadsheet)?

Most Walkable Neighborhood / City In The World ?

by @dannybooboo 3yr 3 years ago  | 1 comment

I love living in walkable areas of town. I can always find them. But now I'm wondering where in the world are the most walkable places? I'm imagining walk streets (no cars), zoning allowing both business and residential, parks or beaches ,etc.

Any nomads in Arizona, US?

in Netherlands by @info132 3yr 3 years ago  | 4 comments

Hi guys,

After the Netherlands, the Bay Area, Colorado and being on the van life for 8 months, I am now in Sedona, AZ with a few other digital nomads. We are sharing a home here and are wondering if there are more like minded people in the area.

We do a bunch of hikes and campouts in the northern of Arizona. If you would like to connect with us, please do so :)

Are there any tax issues I have to be aware of?

in Germany by @clara 3yr 3 years ago  | 0 comments

Hi everybody. I live and work in Germany and want to go to Canary Islands for 6 months to work from there. I'm going to keep my current job, just change the "home" in the home office part of things. Are there any tax issues I have to be aware of? I was reading about becoming a residence after 183 days, thus having to pay taxes there plus my employer having to register there. Does anybody know how it works exactly? Thanks a lot!

Is anyone travelling right now?

by @viktor 3yr 3 years ago  | 3 comments

Winter is coming and Iโ€™m feeling the ache of travelling after being stuck in the same place since the Pandemic started. Wondering if anyone is travelling right now? If so, where are you currently located and how is the situation where you are?

Best ship-to-them storage options any use here?

by @rumpusparable 7yr 7 years ago  | 3 comments

Hiya,

While I donโ€™t know when Iโ€™ll be settling down, I do see it eventually happening at some point if for no other reason for regular health care with age/problems.

So, when I chose to go nomad I got rid of everything except those special letters and trinkets Iโ€™d kept from growing up and past traveling that I wanted for my someday settled-home.

One of my Family memberโ€™s attic turn that initial set of items but I donโ€™t want to use his & his wifeโ€™s attic indefinitely over years/decade/whenevertheymove/etc. and/or be stuck out when any of the above happen before I open that little house or condo somewhere I think best.

So, do any of you use remote storage locations that are meant to receive shipments into for those on the road?

I come from and my main health care options are based in the US, so that would be ideal for me, but Iโ€™ll take whatever place seems best when it comes to the safety of the few things I put away.

Thanks!

Does anyone use a clothing storage and delivery, or online wardrobe service?

by @cobolt_blue 9yr 9 years ago  | 2 comments

Iโ€™m a minimalist, next week I move into a 45L backpack. But, I discovered a problem on my trial run. I have clients some of which requiring me to have a nice suit while Iโ€™m on site. While it doesnโ€™t happen often, I canโ€™t exactly come back and grab a suit before a client engagement. Iโ€™ve found http://www.garderobeonline.com, which looks great except for the limit minimum of 50 items. Since they charge $350/mo itโ€™s a great service for someone with a giant wardrobe. Has anyone found a similar program that fits a minimalist lifestyle better?
