Here is the itinerary of our trip to Costa Rica; what would you recommend?

in Costa Rica by @nomad4 | 2yr  | 2 comments

Hi everybody,

for those who read us in the past, we made some changes to our plan for this winter.
We decided for several reasons to postpone our trip to SEA, and decided to leave for a month in Costa Rica instead. Weโ€™ll still be travelling with our 2 kids and will need to work a little as well.

This is our itinerary for the month. 39

For those whoโ€™ve been there, how long do you think we should stay at each place?
We were planning roughly:

  • 1 week in Tamarindo/Nosara
  • 2-3 nights in Monteverde
  • 2-3 night closer to the Arenal volcano
  • 2-3 night in Quepos
  • Uvita for undetermined period of time

Do you think thereโ€™s a place (among the ones we cited or else) we should consider to stay a little longer?

Thanks

Magali and Guillaume

Thanks for the tips. Weโ€™ll be staying 3 nights in Manuel Antonioโ€ฆ not enough you think?

We booked all our nights but have difficulties finding decent places to stay around Uvita (from Dec 20th to 27th). Any suggestion?
Weโ€™re open to skip Uvita and go elsewhere if we canโ€™t find anything good enough there. Ideally, weโ€™d like to spend these 7 days near the beach, but itโ€™s not a must. We want a nice / quiet area with Wifi, some restaurants and surounded by nature.

We did almost the same trip 3 years ago!! Wifi back then was weak and had a really hard time working from there! I highly recommend getting local sim card and wifi device. Our airbnbs would say there was internet and we had them do a speed test but when we got there they did the speed test from their place and not where we were staying so be aware of that.

The kids will LOVE it. Eat the local โ€œtypicalโ€ food places it will save you money.

We rented a car it was super cheap but we were charged 3,000.00 for insurance or something like that. We were prepared. We rented a car for the month and drove that whole route. Please add: manuel antonio we wish we stayed there longer. .

Also below Tamarindo is a little surf communtiy called: Playa Avellanas less touristy. We ended up at the Osa Peninsula and it was super remote and beautiful!! Enjoy your trip! Feel free to reach out anytime. we brought a 10 year old and 16 year old with us.

What features would you like to see on Nomad List?

by @levelsio | 2d 1 day ago | 3 comments

Hi everyone,

I would love to hear what you'd like me to build next on Nomad List, or any other product/feature feedback ideas you have.

It's been 6+ years now but I'm in this for the long term and with the boost remote work got last year it's even more exciting to work on Nomad List than ever.

Current roadmap is here: twitter.com/levelsio/status/1363204985488572417?s=20 and pbs.twimg.com/media/EusS9PKXEAUR8xp?format=jpg&name=4096x4096

The next products/features I have planned:

- ๐Ÿ›‚ Rebase: visa, residency and immigration services for remote workers

- ๐ŸŽ“Courses: learn the steps how to go remote and travel/relocate

- ๐Ÿ› Gov liaison: diplomacy services to the governments to help us lobby for nomads and for them to attract remote workers

Thanks a lot!

List of Visa/Residency Information in Table/Spreadsheet format?

by @innovatelife | 29d 28 days ago | 2 comments

As part of signing up for this website I was hoping I would come across a list of Visa and/or Residency requirements by country ideally in a table format to assist with decision making. Does anybody recommend any other websites that might present the information in this format (or Google Spreadsheet)?

Most Walkable Neighborhood / City In The World ?

by @dannybooboo | 1mo 1 month ago | 1 comment

I love living in walkable areas of town. I can always find them. But now I'm wondering where in the world are the most walkable places? I'm imagining walk streets (no cars), zoning allowing both business and residential, parks or beaches ,etc.

Any nomads in Arizona, US?

in Netherlands by @info132 | 1mo 1 month ago | 4 comments

Hi guys,

After the Netherlands, the Bay Area, Colorado and being on the van life for 8 months, I am now in Sedona, AZ with a few other digital nomads. We are sharing a home here and are wondering if there are more like minded people in the area.

We do a bunch of hikes and campouts in the northern of Arizona. If you would like to connect with us, please do so :)

Are there any tax issues I have to be aware of?

in Germany by @clara | 1mo 1 month ago | 0 comments

Hi everybody. I live and work in Germany and want to go to Canary Islands for 6 months to work from there. I'm going to keep my current job, just change the "home" in the home office part of things. Are there any tax issues I have to be aware of? I was reading about becoming a residence after 183 days, thus having to pay taxes there plus my employer having to register there. Does anybody know how it works exactly? Thanks a lot!

Is anyone travelling right now?

by @viktor | 2mo 1 month ago | 3 comments

Winter is coming and Iโ€™m feeling the ache of travelling after being stuck in the same place since the Pandemic started. Wondering if anyone is travelling right now? If so, where are you currently located and how is the situation where you are?

Is there any good and safe coworking space with fast internet in Costa Rica?

in Costa Rica by @sven | 2yr 2 years ago | 7 comments

Everything is in the title.

Iโ€™m working on a big project so I will need fast internet (>15 mbps).
If itโ€™s close to the beach, it would be even better.

Thanks !!

House Sitting - Who would you recommend?

by @dirtandrust | 5yr 4 years ago | 23 comments

Your advice would be greatly appreciated. Weโ€™re about to embark on our nomad lifestyle (leaving New Zealand May 18), and we want to sign up for housesitting. Weโ€™re trying to decide which would be the better option for families (2 adults and 2 kids age 9 & 6): Trusted Housesitters and/or Mind My House or would you recommend signing up for both? Weโ€™re looking at European and surrounding locations (UK/Morocco etc) from about August this year.

We have police checks, a couple of references from old landlords and photos of us with animals.

Any other recommendations when it comes to housesitting would be appreciated!

Thanks, Alice & Nathaniel

Price for basic accommodation in Santa Teresa, Costa Rica?

in Santa Teresa, Costa Rica by @niklasmodess | 5yr 5 years ago | 0 comments

Hi!
Me and my girlfriend are planning on staying 1-3 months in Santa Teresa, starting in May. Does anybody know how much we can expect to pay in rent, and if there are any good places online to look for apartments? Or is it better to look for a place once weโ€™re there? So far weโ€™ve mostly found more upscale options online but we just need a place that is safe, clean and that has a kitchen. A small studio would be fine.
Any help with this would be appreciated!

Mixed opinions on the safety level in Costa Rica - what do you think?

in Costa Rica by @geo_care | 5yr 5 years ago | 8 comments

Hi everyone,

I did a bit of research about Costa Rica and got my feelings all mixed up. I know that it is considered safe in comparison with the rest of SA but how safe is it? I read on a forum that you cannot walk with your backpack every day as you will probably get mugged (gunpoint included). Is this true?
I am a solo female traveler and pretty easy target Iโ€™d guess. The other topics here on Costa Rica contain very little info. Your feedback would be much appreciated. :slightly_smiling:

Costa Rica or other suggestions in SA for a single woman travelling?

in Costa Rica by @ruthk | 5yr 5 years ago | 14 comments

Hi guys,
Iโ€™ve decided I want to take a break from my way of living and go nomad for a few months (at least). I do music so WiFi is not my main concern, all I need is good inspiration and nice people around me.

I am looking for a mid-cheap / safe place, preferably having a nice beach around. Iโ€™d also like to socialize with people from different cultures. Meet and make new friends.
I got sick from living in Europe/US, so Iโ€™d rather be far away from these continents.

My choices have come down do Costa Rica, but Iโ€™m reading some good stuff about Medellin, Mexico, Panama. Iโ€™ve spend quite some time in Asia traveling as well (I love Bali and Koh Lanta), but Iโ€™ve never been to South America, so Iโ€™d rather go in that direction.

What would you suggest?

How is Costa Rica for digital nomads?

in Costa Rica by @seansean11 | 6yr 5 years ago | 11 comments

Iโ€™m making my way up to Costa Rica from Colombia right now and plan to spend a 2-3 week period working remote when I arrive to Costa Rica. Iโ€™m currently looking at AirB&B for a beach apartment w/ wi-fi in a few popular beach destinations, but the cost is looking pretty high (think $800+ for 2 weeks). I speak Spanish and was thinking that maybe I could haggle something less pricey when I arrive, but donโ€™t want to risk it.

The question I have is where and how can I set myself up for the best stay. Where should I search for places to rent? Should I try to rent an apartment with good wi-fi or just stay in a hostel on the cheap and go to coffee shops? And lastly, what are some of the best places to DN (I saw a bit about Quepos and Santa Teresa in another post)?

My tax firm just did something shady, so Iโ€™m thinking if I can find someone in time Iโ€™d like to make a switch. Anyone have a recommendation?
