In which cities there’re meal delivery services that provide customers with weekly pre-proportioned meals with recipes?

by @denis.peskov 7yr  | 3 comments

Think American Blue Apron, or Moscow-based Elementaree for that matter. I’m not a big fan of food-shopping or market-haggling, you know. Yet I’m OK with cooking myself  Such services would definitely make a stay easier.

Take a look at these: http://blog.marketresearch.com/12-meal-kit-delivery-services-to-watch
I see Hello Fresh advertised a lot. I’m a chef so I don’t need or use any of these but seems like a great opportunity to expand globally, except in markets where buying fresh, prepared food is super-cheap (Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam) - so much so that many apartments don’t have proper kitchens (only a microwave, fridge and maybe a kettle). Probably best niche for this is customers with special dietary requirements - Whole30, Paleo, gluten-free, organic, etc…

In Australia there are a heap including delivery services for paleo or other dietary needs. You can also get services like fruit and vegetable boxes delivered straight from the farm.

It’s pretty easy to find stuff like that with a google search if you’re in an English speaking country but a bit more challenging when you don’t speak the language. I did notice a few services coming up on my instagram feed when I was in Japan though.

Prague, for sure (but I do not have a name in mind).

Plus DameJidlo, a famous food delivery startup.
And Tesco does grocery delivery to your home.
For these two last ones, of course, you have to do the proportioning yourself

What features would you like to see on Nomad List?

by @levelsio 3yr 3 years ago  | 3 comments

Hi everyone,

I would love to hear what you'd like me to build next on Nomad List, or any other product/feature feedback ideas you have.

It's been 6+ years now but I'm in this for the long term and with the boost remote work got last year it's even more exciting to work on Nomad List than ever.

Current roadmap is here: twitter.com/levelsio/status/1363204985488572417?s=20 and pbs.twimg.com/media/EusS9PKXEAUR8xp?format=jpg&name=4096x4096

The next products/features I have planned:

- 🛂 Rebase: visa, residency and immigration services for remote workers

- 🎓Courses: learn the steps how to go remote and travel/relocate

- 🏛 Gov liaison: diplomacy services to the governments to help us lobby for nomads and for them to attract remote workers

Thanks a lot!

List of Visa/Residency Information in Table/Spreadsheet format?

by @innovatelife 3yr 3 years ago  | 2 comments

As part of signing up for this website I was hoping I would come across a list of Visa and/or Residency requirements by country ideally in a table format to assist with decision making. Does anybody recommend any other websites that might present the information in this format (or Google Spreadsheet)?

Most Walkable Neighborhood / City In The World ?

by @dannybooboo 3yr 3 years ago  | 1 comment

I love living in walkable areas of town. I can always find them. But now I'm wondering where in the world are the most walkable places? I'm imagining walk streets (no cars), zoning allowing both business and residential, parks or beaches ,etc.

Any nomads in Arizona, US?

in Netherlands by @info132 3yr 3 years ago  | 4 comments

Hi guys,

After the Netherlands, the Bay Area, Colorado and being on the van life for 8 months, I am now in Sedona, AZ with a few other digital nomads. We are sharing a home here and are wondering if there are more like minded people in the area.

We do a bunch of hikes and campouts in the northern of Arizona. If you would like to connect with us, please do so :)

Are there any tax issues I have to be aware of?

in Germany by @clara 3yr 3 years ago  | 0 comments

Hi everybody. I live and work in Germany and want to go to Canary Islands for 6 months to work from there. I'm going to keep my current job, just change the "home" in the home office part of things. Are there any tax issues I have to be aware of? I was reading about becoming a residence after 183 days, thus having to pay taxes there plus my employer having to register there. Does anybody know how it works exactly? Thanks a lot!

Is anyone travelling right now?

by @viktor 3yr 3 years ago  | 3 comments

Winter is coming and I’m feeling the ache of travelling after being stuck in the same place since the Pandemic started. Wondering if anyone is travelling right now? If so, where are you currently located and how is the situation where you are?

Best place to set up a company selling digital services?

by @pras_k 5yr 5 years ago  | 10 comments

What’s the best place?
For residency I’m looking at Portugal and they have the NHR (non habitual resident) program which would exempt dividends from foreign income.
So all I’m really looking for is the best place to actually start the company.
Biggest factors are of course low taxes and ease of setting up the company plus a business bank account that enables me to receive payments through Stripe.

What I found so far:
Hong Kong
Corporate tax rate of 16.5% (8.25% for the first HK$2 million)
⊕/⊖ offshore income from outside HK is exempt from taxation but it’s not clear whether this can be done in the first year and prorated or if it’s only through filing the offshore exemption claim. This might take two years and requires not income from HK at all. More info on that would be great
⊖ seems very difficult to get a business bank account
⊖ necessary services and fees are roughly around €2000 / year
⊖ accounting requirements seem to be very strict
⊕ Doesn’t require local partner
⊕ Agencies available that seem to handle most of the work

Singapore
Corporate tax rate of 17% (0% on the first S$100k, 8.5% up to S$300k)
⊖ requires a local director. What are the implications of this?

Malta
Corporate tax rate of 35%
There is the “full imputation system” but I don’t really understand it.
"In most cases, the tax refund to the shareholder is 6/7 of the tax paid by the company on profits distributed as dividends. The tax refund rate may be different in the following cases: " This would result in an effective corporate tax of around 5%.
⊖ European customers would have to pay VAT and I’d have to deal with that

Cyprus
Corporate tax rate of 12.5% and there seem to be ways to lower this
⊖ European customers would have to pay VAT and I’d have to deal with that
⊖ requires staying in Cyprus for 2 months / year

I find it surprising how much research this requires and how much “it depends” information is out there when I’d assume that there are probably thousands of digital nomads who probably have very similar requirements.

What items/services etc did you wish you had the first time you set off to travel?

by @theunisk 7yr 7 years ago  | 3 comments

A friend of mine is setting off on her first long solo trip, starting in Brazil. She will initially be backpacking but may turn to working on the road at some point.

I’d like to get her a nice gift for the trip and though I have a few ideas, I thought I’d come here for some further inspiration. What have you found yourself missing on the road, or what item or service has made your travels better/more comfortable/enjoyable ?
An example from my experience: a way to organise laundry, eg packing cubes or dry bags.

Feedback on UK mail handling services

by @sarab 8yr 8 years ago  | 5 comments

Hi everyone,

I’m thinking of changing my current setup for mail/post receiving and scanning (at the moment I have some friends doing it for me), and I was wondering if anyone has any specific feedback/advice regarding UK companies. I’m currently looking at UKPostBox.

Any personal insight would be greatly appreciated!

Sara

How do you travel Asia with customers in other timezones?

Hello!

I’m sure there are many here who are responsible for a Customer base within American time zones that travel Asia.

How do you balance your life out while doing this?

Does anyone use a clothing storage and delivery, or online wardrobe service?

by @cobolt_blue 9yr 9 years ago  | 2 comments

I’m a minimalist, next week I move into a 45L backpack. But, I discovered a problem on my trial run. I have clients some of which requiring me to have a nice suit while I’m on site. While it doesn’t happen often, I can’t exactly come back and grab a suit before a client engagement. I’ve found http://www.garderobeonline.com, which looks great except for the limit minimum of 50 items. Since they charge $350/mo it’s a great service for someone with a giant wardrobe. Has anyone found a similar program that fits a minimalist lifestyle better?

Does anyone know European mail-scanning services (similar to Earth Class Mail)?

by @dpt 9yr 9 years ago  | 9 comments

I’m looking for a service like Earth Class Mail that scans my physical mail and emails it for me. There seems to be tons of services like that in the US, but I’d need one in Europe (bonus points for flashy locations like Switzerland).

I did some research and found some virtual office services that would offer such a service, but they all seem to charge ~70€/month and that’s a little too much for the 2-3 letters per month I receive.

Are there any decent global laptop rental & delivery services?

by @normaldude 9yr 9 years ago  | 0 comments

Like if you’re traveling around the world, your Windows laptop gets stolen at 2am, and you just need a quick rental laptop, delivered to your hotel room ASAP, for using during the next 1-2 weeks. As a long-term solution, you’ll mail order a custom Windows laptop, but that may take a while to assemble & deliver. So for now, you just need a quick short-term temporary laptop replacement.

I know that there are overnight laptop rental services, but they seem focused on the US market…

Are there any overnight laptop rental services for global travelers?
