Its a very expensive place to live and its hard to find optimal housing. There are many Austrialians looking to live here so its has a growing housing market, we experienced a rental rate increase during our stay. This seems to be a lively city with many visitors and fun amusement parks, clubs, and nice shopping centers. But for us the main value was its proximity to a world class beach. This is THE nicest city

I looked at it on google maps and saw it was really small and thought it was boring so I booked a 3 day trip here. Oh my how wrong was I?! 3 days was not enough to do what’s here at all. I went skiing, checked out the town center and so much more! I was so hooked with this place and did not want to leave! I sadly had to. I am in love with this place and will definitely

The people are very friendly, great restraunts on the sea front board walk, and as a diver great access to the great Barrier Reef. Either a train or cable car ride from the town station will take you up into the largest tended an cultivated tropical rain forest in the world. If you like life free and easy beautiful Cairns is for you.

It's a bit of an older vibe than Canggu, and there's certainly a big chunk of yogi's kicking around — but I liked it much better than Canggu and found it less pretentious. Plus, you can drive down there in 45mins whenever you want some beach or party vibes. It's a lot more expensive now (2020) than posted. 1-bdr in center is $3,500-$4,000 + $200-$300 for parking + $100-$200 for utilities. Almost impossible to find month-to-month rent, so this is for 1-year lease. Coffee for two + a pastry is easily $20. Dinner for two never less than $50, unless it's fast food (+20% tips are expected) and if you want actually something good it's at least $100 for two. Airbnb is $1

Price of housing is outrageous, and the city is expensive af. They charge you 4.5-5 eur for a capuccino, completely shameless. An hour of public transport is 3 euros. I could go on and on. For visiting tourists, the best neighborhood to stay in is NOT Bushwick. Park Slope, Prospect Heights, Ft. Green or Brooklyn Heights is preferable. Plenty of good transportation in those areas - subway, buses or Uber. Easy access to beaches in Long Island and New Jersey. There's plenty to do in NYC. There are also plenty of WeWorks scattered across the city if you need somewhere consistent to work. The people weren't rude to me, but that's because I always greet people in French before asking for help or information, so to avoid rudeness, I'd suggest learning basic greetings and how to ask
