I've spent a total of ~2 months in Kigali. Pros: very safe, pretty affordable, very pretty, hospitable people, great coffee. Cons: a bit dull, culture is very insular (respectful but quite conservative), food is bad, police state vibes are kind of weird. I'm currently in Marrakesh and been here for a month. I would definitely recommend visiting but not during summer as it can get really hot. My first day here it was 42 degrees and really dry. It has gotten better so I would say visit around August or later. Marrakesh is lovely but very touristy and I can only imagine how things were pre-pandemic. All in, Austin is a good city. We live in Hill Country now so we're a bit removed. But it's beautiful area once you get away from the highways. A good tech scene. Not too expensive (~$2100 for a nice 2 bedroom apt) for the U.S. Has wineries and breweries galore. Not a great place if you are a recovering alcoholic (!).
