Love Edinburgh. A very historic place that's just generally lovely to enjoy! It's actually not as Scottish as Glasgow. There is a huge English population, as well as many other cultures. A lovely city to spends hours walking around.

For a European capital, there's not much to do. It's extremely overpriced for what it offers. Did not find the locals nearly as friendly as sources say. Food is very meh. Grocery stores are disorganized and everything close to expiry. You will have to beg and compete to find a dump of an apartment for under $2,000 euro/month. I've lived in New York City - Brooklyn - for over 20 years. For visiting tourists, the best neighborhood to stay in is NOT Bushwick. Park Slope, Prospect Heights, Ft. Green or Brooklyn Heights is preferable. Plenty of good transportation in those areas - subway, buses or Uber. Easy access to beaches in Long Island and New Jersey. There's plenty to do in NYC. Great restaurants, Broadway plays (!), and in the summer you frequently can catch a free concert.

Bad walkability? Oslo is known for its great walkability and accessibility to nature. The public transport system is also great, and the city is safe. However, the downside is that it is a very expensive city. Basic items like fruits, vegetables, meat and even beer can be costly. Additionally, the import system in Norway is very protective, which means that grocery stores often only carry products that are made in Norway.

I absolutely love living in this city. It's very clean, safe and things generally always work! This is something I miss when I travel to other cities in Europe and rest of the world. Also co-working spaces are growing tons. Though night life might be pretty "boring", it truly is what you make it. Get to know other expats and friends through meetups or friend of a friend, and you'll have an awesome time here!

Just came back from my second proper trip to Copenhagen. Now, I've been there in February and August, which is a huge contrast in this city. Winter: Copenhagen is great for cafes, working in them and experiencing the "hygge" (coziness) lifestyle. Why? Lived there last September and October and am coming back later this year. Yes, it is expensive, but after a while I learned about affordable places to eat and realized I could choose neighborhoods farther from city center, and it would still be nice. I've been in Helsinki on New Year's Eve and it's been okay. There isn't lots of fireworks but in front of the main cathedral you'll find some. I don’t recommend living here full time. The summers are unbearably hot and humid and you have to drive 1+ hours to the closest beach. Actually, you have to drive everywhere because everything is a 20+ min drive. Traffic is terrible and everything is under construction.
