Was here for less than a week and got jumped at gunpoint at 2pm, broad daylight in front of police and traffic. No one did anything, gangs seem the run the place. I've travelled to dozens of places and have lived in Mexico for >6mo, Guatemala is a whole different caliber of dangerous. Maybe I was just unlucky?

San Cristobal is more suitable for vacation and backpackers. It is complicated to find a good wifi and mobile internet connection, but there are some coworkings. Didn’t like the town itself - too much traffic for such a small place, not to mention that a lot of tourists got food poisoned from food/water, but it’s worth visiting because of marvellous nature of Chiapas

There is absolutely no reason to stay in Belize City. You're just going to get ripped off by taxis and restaurants (always do the math on your bill). You come to Belize to go to the islands or ruins, not Belize City.

I love San Pedro for the diving, fishing and street food. Great internet and have worked here remotely several times in the last year. Some of the best diving in all of the Caribbean at offshore Atolls, with incredible bio-diversity, and world class fishing. I prefer minimalist island vibe without Gucci stores, am here for the wildlife, and love driving to dinner on the beach in a lifted golf cart.

I really enjoyed my first week here, but as I got to know more locals and heard their stories, I was disturbed at the security situation. Almost everyone I met has horror stories about being robbed at gunpoint, robbed by the police, and in one case even drugged and robbed by a taxi driver. It's not even safe to walk a short distance at night (locals told me to just take Uber). Beyond the security issues, scams also abound, and the covid policy is wacky, with hand sanitizer being forced on you ev

According to the World Happiness Report, San José in Costa Rica is the 11th "happiest city" (in terms of how positively the inhabitants currently evaluate their lives on average) among 186 cities across the globe. In this ranking, the top cities have often a much higher cost of living.

Downtown Houston was once a desolate cluster of office buildings that was abandoned at sundown. But now, downtown is currently undergoing a transformation and will soon (5~ years) make for an inhabitable and nomad friendly destination.

There seems to be a tacit rent floor that means you won't find a good deal on housing. A lot of people don't seem very invested in their interpersonal relationships here since their ties to the area are often transient.

It's one of the best summers I have ever had in my life. The city is just amazing and offers dozens of outdoor activities. There are so many different places such as parks, lakes, hills, mountains, beaches, etc. Also, you can feel the Californication vibe on every step. I lived in Hollywood and I would avoid this place at any cost. It's just too overrated and won't meet your expectations. Hollywood (esp. West Hollywood) is a big pile of dirtiness

For visiting tourists, the best neighborhood to stay in is NOT Bushwick. Park Slope, Prospect Heights, Ft. Green or Brooklyn Heights is preferable. Plenty of good transportation in those areas - subway, buses or Uber. Easy access to beaches in Long Island and New Jersey. There's plenty to do in NYC. Great restaurants, Broadway plays (!), and in the summer you frequently can catch a free concert.

Tourists have had to be evacuated. The train to Machu Picchu is indefinitely closed until further notice. 48 people have died in the conflicts so far. There are a lot of issues where foreigners like myself are driving up the rent and we are solely blamed for this. Everything works, beautiful greenery (hehe), cycling everywhere, happy people, great nightlife... Lots to love about. For nomads? Not a chance. Price of housing is outrageous, and the city is expensive af. They charge you 4.5-5 eur for a capuccino, completely shameless. An hour of public transport is 3 euros. I could go on and on.
