As a local, born and bred Joburger, I can tell you that there is a lot to love about this city if you know where to look. For the most part, it's orientated around suburbian living. The main city (Johannesburg CBD) is for the most part a no-go because of crime, but if you know some locals you should definitely check it out there are amazing restaurants, theatres and museums to experience there. Having lived here for 30+ years, I'd recommend checking out Sandton CBD, restaurants in Linden, Wand

I really enjoyed Gaborone - clean, safe, plenty of shopping areas, great roads, plenty of restaurants. We stayed in a beautiful 3-bedroom, 2 bath house in the Phakalane neighborhood. I felt safe and secure. The weather in early February was beautiful, although it did rain some. If you're looking for excitement and a lot of activities, Botswana may not be for you but I loved it. I thought the quality of life in Gaborone was perfect.

Lusaka is a bustling city full of surprises if you look. The downside is rent is on the pricey side than say what you would expect to pay in most places in SEA. You can find some low rental places but then you'd be putting yourself in an environment that's not particularly safe. If you are not very rich just visit it and choose to stay in some other, more modest german city. The town has been taken over by tourists. Local music venues that have been around for 50+ years are closing because they can't afford the rent hikes. Unbelievably a great place to live! Forget Pattaya downtown and go for Jomtiem instead, with a more family-oriented enviroment, delicious street food and russian/scandinavian communities. You can live in great places with seaview paying less than you would pay for a regular place in Bangkok, with all the traffic and pollution. Taxis in Istanbul are a big problem even for locals. Public transport is convenient and comfortable. If you need to call a taxi, I recommend using an app. "Bitaksi" can be used. Nomading here is tough because there are no reasonable Airbnbs and finding a short-term apt is difficult. You have to ask yourself, is it worth coming to Barcelona? It's probably the dirtiest city in Spain, and a bit sketchy. There's more beautiful and cleaner cities like Seville where you can find a reasonably priced Airbnb.

I was in Munich for 9 months and couldn't get used to the city. It's actually a small town for old and rich people. The flair is not international, but terribly German-conservative. Lived there last September and October and am coming back later this year. Yes, it is expensive, but after a while I learned about affordable places to eat and realized I could choose neighborhoods farther from city center, and it would still be nice. City feels super safe, even at nigh! Internet is crazy fast (I got 500mb on my airbnb) there are tons to do and see and I did not encounter the super rude Parisians people talk so much about, mostly everyone spoke English and were very polite. I've been hanging out in Berlin on and off for 30 years. It is very safe for women. It is much friendlier than it used to be. There are loads of vegan restaurants now. The nightlife and specially jazz clubs are amazing! I have an excellent apartment to rent out in Wedding - which used to have a boring reputation but now is very cool.

A top city. Everything works, beautiful greenery (hehe), cycling everywhere, happy people, great nightlife... Lots to love about. For nomads? Not a chance. Price of housing is outrageous, and the city is expensive af. They charge you 4.5-5 eur for a capuccino, completely shameless. An hour of public transport is 3 euros. I could go on and on. I'd love to live there, but it's not worth it.

Stayed for 5 days in Tulum in March 2023, here are a few things to consider. -The Pros are: there a ton of very solid accommodations for ~$50 per night on a short term basis (1BR apartment, pool, etc.). You can get it down even further with a longer term commitment. It feels like there is a growing nomad community, but it's more of NYC/LA types than down to earth vagabonds. If you have money, stay in Lomas. That's it. The other areas of the city which every Samantha, Bryan, and pink-haired person named Leaf have mentioned are all worth visiting and enjoying, but just stay in Lomas. Quiet, less population, no dust, and most importantly, you can avoid the broke Americans from Bushwick or WeHo who eat at Orinoco every night to save money.
