Lots of crime near downtown and central Macon, I don't know who put Bloomfield as the best place to move, but as someone who works in Bloomfield, it is basically an active warzone, I heard a drive-by at work tonight and that's normal for me, move to south Macon or northeast Macon, or better yet. Look up a crime map for Macon, they're pretty accurate to real life.

Born and raised 1 hour from Daytona Beach. Pros - Beach is nice. The sand is so packed down you and bike up the beach. You can drive onto the beach and snag wifi from local hotels work in your van. There are a few decent coffee shops. Some nice Diners and local farmers markets depending on the day. If you have a paddle board or kayak there are plenty of players to pop it in the river or sea. The Cons: Unless you're into Nascar and Motorcycles there isn't too much to do after the sun goes down ot

I don’t recommend living here full time. The summers are unbearably hot and humid and you have to drive 1+ hours to the closest beach. Actually, you have to drive everywhere because everything is a 20+ min drive. Traffic is terrible and everything is under construction. There are lots of bugs, mosquitos, gators, roaches, etc… You can be here for months and not do all the different entertainment, restaurants, experiences the Orlando area has to offer. Disney, Universal, SeaWorld, Legoland, Fu

I spent 4 months working here during summertime. It's one of the best summers I have ever had in my life. The city is just amazing and offers dozens of outdoor activities. There are so many different places such as parks, lakes, hills, mountains, beaches, etc. Also, you can feel the Californication vibe on every step. I lived in Hollywood and I would avoid this place at any cost. It's just too overrated and won't meet your expectations. Hollywood (esp. West Hollywood) is a big pile of dirtiness

I guess if you're a nomad this doesn't matter much, but the long-term job pickings here are slim and among the most underpaid for a US city. There seems to be a tacit rent floor that means you won't find a good deal on housing. A lot of people don't seem very invested in their interpersonal relationships here since their ties to the area are often transient.

I really enjoyed my first week here, but as I got to know more locals and heard their stories, I was disturbed at the security situation. Almost everyone I met has horror stories about being robbed at gunpoint, robbed by the police, and in one case even drugged and robbed by a taxi driver. It's not even safe to walk a short distance at night (locals told me to just take Uber). Beyond the security issues, scams also abound, and the covid policy is wacky, with hand sanitizer being forced on you ev

It's a lot more expensive now (2020) than posted. 1-bdr in center is $3,500-$4,000 + $200-$300 for parking + $100-$200 for utilities. Almost impossible to find month-to-month rent, so this is for 1-year lease. Coffee for two + a pastry is easily $20. Dinner for two never less than $50, unless it's fast food (+20% tips are expected) and if you want actually something good it's at least $100 for two. Airbnb is $1

People are generally open-minded and friendly. The cost of living is high but it allows you to be able to afford other places on earth easily if you can find a job here. You can also find plenty of good restaurants and arts around in the city. I recommend to stay at least 3-6 months to get the feel of living a PNW life.

It's beautiful, and there are plenty of touristy things to do, however the city is very expensive. There are plenty of places to shop, which is the main reason why I went. There are also plenty of WeWorks scattered across the city if you need somewhere consistent to work. The people weren't rude to me, but that's because I always greet people in French before asking for help or information, so to avoid rudeness, I'd suggest learning basic greetings and how to ask
