Yoga is the best exercise we can perform daily and as you all know yoga comes from India. So there is no question about the yoga been learnt. India has lot of cultures and history and my friends out there is still searching for the correct yoga schools i would suggest to go for Yoga Vini Rishikesh. Itโs located in Rishikesh, Uttarakhand, India. They provide 200 hours of certified yoga session which is been registered under the alliance USA. The teachers have vast experience in the field of yoga. So my friends i would suggest to go for it.

I visited this place in march. It is good place for yoga and meditation. You can find many good budget hotels with good wifi under 10-12$/day.

Really interested in hearing the answers to this one. I think a mountainous location would be ideal for a yoga retreat.
I have a friend who went to the Siam Healing Center on the island of Ko Pha Ngan, Thailand. Maybe itโs not exactly what youโre looking for but he says it was a pleasurable experience (and extremely cheap). They offer on site housing, massages, yoga, and courses on related topics.

They do intense 10-day meditation programs including food and accommodation, and they only ask for a donation at the end. Turns out thereโs a bit of controversy around their method. However, largely positive stories in general and theyโre all over the world.
What is the controversy around their method?
Itโs very simple, really. Simple, but incredibly hard.
The Dhamma retreats vary from country to country. Iโd suggest you pick one 1) in a nice, tranquil environment, with 2) good, healthy food.
I did mine in my home country (The Netherlands) and it lacked the latter. Itโs not that the cooks didnโt try but PB&Js on stale bread for breakfast is hardly conducive to a good practice. Compare that to Thailand, where youโd get served delicious local Thai cuisine.
Iโm warning you though, it will be a very, very intense experience. This shouldnโt discourage you, just donโt approach it as a nice, relaxing vacation. Meditation is hard work. Give me shoveling in the dirt, all day.
P.S. Make sure you adequately protect yourself from mosquitos and other nasties. I had to leave mine early because of a severe infection after being bitten by something fierce that could only have emanated somewhere deep from the throughs of hell.

The controversy I found was from a Google Search for โgoenka dhamma criticismโ which returned a forum discussion: http://www.atheistfoundation.org.au/forums/showthread.php?t=16830
You could argue itโs a biased forum but at the same time they bring up some good points about the centers being unable to deal with people who suffer mental traumas as a result of their experience and possibly too much Buddhist dogma being preached.
Having said that, Iโm still keen on going. Iโm aware that it will be the polar opposite of a holiday where you sip poolside cocktails. The challenge is what attracts me.

Well I can assure you that thereโll be a lot of dogma, but Buddhist dogma is never preachy, itโs basically saying to โlet your experience be the judgeโ ; )
The great thing about the Goenka retreats is that the 10-day retreat is a formalized process, a plan of progression of sorts, finely honed through decades of iteration and through the experiences of thousands upon thousands of students. I had and still have strong confidence in this process because of its firm root in empiricism.
I also suspect that such retreats attract a disproportionally higher percentage of mentally โtroubledโ people, who already suffer (knowingly or unknowingly) from some type of mental disorder. You know them, those people who are on โspitirual journeysโ and stuff, those who clutter your Instagram with picture of their 3-day juice cleanse detox. Those mental problems could very well be exacerbated by such an intense experience as a 10-day silent meditation retreat.
Having said that, many Buddhist scholars have written about โdark periodsโ in ones meditation - where one can feel especially troubled, confused and depressed - none more so than Daniel Ingram, who wrote the somewhat obscure but severely under-appreciated book Mastering the Core Teachings of the Dhamma. It is certainly something to consider. How does the saying go again? โYou canโt make an omelet without breaking a few eggsโ? I think that very much applies here as well.
My 2 cents, if you feel relatively sane, go for it. And let me know how it went!
Will do. The fomalized process you mention is the main reason Iโm so particularly interested in Goenka retreats.
I have done the 10-day course myself at the main centre in Igatpuri. There is nothing wrong. Of course for everything you wish to take up in life, there will people advocating a different school of thought. Just ignore. Things cant be that bad.
I came out much calm and balanced. But it needs to be practiced regularly to get the effects of meditation.

Does anyone here have any experience attending a full time fitness bootcamp or a fitness resort while working? I know there is one in Cambodia for digital nomads (Fitness Retreat Resort Kep Gym), unfortunately the time difference vs my work schedule would make my life suck if I tried to go there. Iโm looking for a place between US and Europe timezones that lets you live with them, kicks your butt with fitness, but would also have good WiFi/accommodate working eight hours a day. Iโm also open to other tangential ideas for something close-ish to get that same experience.

Regarding remote work in Asia/Far East, How have or could you successfully navigate the time zone and internet issue. It sounds like you really have to use a cowork space there to have adequate connection but I would be working mainly in US time zones with 12 hour difference, are there spaces open 24 hours? Is it possible to get good internet with a long term rental instead? I would need a really good connection, which itโs hard to tell if exists in some places at all. Thanks!
Do you guys know of any nomad retreats / trips that go to ski/snowboard locations, from the Alps to the Rockies to Japan? Could be a week long trip, 3 months, or anywhere in between.
I saw something a couple years back where DNs/entrepreneurs would meet up for 1-2 weeks in the alps, but havenโt been able to find it. Also it seems all the main nomad retreats tend to go to warmer climates in SE Asia and South America.

Iโve been looking to travel for a few years now, and Iโm finally at the point where Iโm pretty much ready to get going, hopefully next month.
That said, Iโve not planned ahead well, and it only just occurred to me about vaccinations. Iโve done a bit of research and there are vaccinations available, but Iโm unsure how necessary they are.
I plan to chat to my local nurse/doctor before going, but Iโm also interested to hear whether most people do vaccinate at all before heading out or not?
In terms of specifics, Iโm planning to fly to Japan and then move south, likely hitting up Thailand, Bali, Vietnam etc.

Iโm planning a visit to Chiang Mai and Bali starting in April. I have a Google Nexus which has worked flawlessly in Mexico at least. Assuming it will work just as well in CM and Bali? If I decide not to work in a coworking space, but rather Airbnb w/wifi and/or Coffee shops wifi, would a dedicated 4g sim card device be worth spening $75 USD to purchase, plus local sim, plus potential SIM hassle, or just rely on Nexus hotspot + airbnb and coffee shop Wifi?
Hey guysโฆ Iโm from a EU country but in the past 6 years I spent there just 3 weeks.
I have a bank account in Australia, since I spent there over 4 years. Now Iโm mostly in Thailand or travelling around.
Because of my experiences
a) PayPal froze my account for several weeks until I was able to give them documents that are very difficult to get if Iโm no longer in Australia
b) when applying for a tourist visa to Australia just to pick up rest of my stuff - itโs supposed to be done within 48 hoursโฆ well it took them 3 weeks just to ask me for additional details (that I already gave them with the application anyway) - I lost my tickets and bookings - of course no way to email them, call or whatever
This made me think about the fact that I have all my money in Australia. While Iโm doing nothing illegal I canโt risk that some โofficerโ with a bad day decide to freeze my account to investigate whatever and Iโll be left with nothing for who knows how long. Not to mention they usually canโt grasp the concept of perpetual travelling.
So my question - anyone has RECENT experience with opening a bank account in SE Asia? Either personal or business (thinking about UK LLP or US LLC)

a) countries such Singapore has assumption that everyone and his dog is laundering moneyโฆ $500 at a timeโฆ
b) Thailand with lazy and incompetent staff where you ask to open non-resident bank account just to be told โdonโt haveโ โฆ you point on the 3x3 metres huge board behind them listing interest for non-resident bank account - answer โaaah, yes yes canโt open, new rulesโ (even while having a Thai with me)

If I stay somewhere for a while I usually get hard bottled bulk water containers, but often I have to rely on cheap plastic water bottles, which isnโt good from both a health and environmental perspective. Have used a drink bottle with a filter but canโt say I trusted it, and it was a little annoying. Any better options in use?
Iโm leaving for India in about a month and then headed to Thailand and probably Indonesia. What immunizations should I get, and which ones did you get for these areas. The CDC says Hepatitis A and Typhoid for most and long list for some travelers. Iโm also considering a Malaria prevention pill. I will be in India for 10 days and Thailand and Indonesia for about a month.
Any information regarding what other nomads have or have experience with would be greatly appreciated.
My laptop is having issues and Iโd rather replace it before it gets too bad. Iโm currently in Chiang Mai, going to Phnom Phen next week then to KL and Seoul.

If so, do you guys have any tips or recommendations to not get robbed or lose your valuable camera. I really would like to use my camera while visiting South East Asia, but I am afraid that it will get stolen or something like that.
Iโm packing for Costa Rica (staying there end of September to end of October) and wonder what I should take along in my first-aid kit (if anything is necessary at all) โฆ what do other DNs take along in terms of first-aid?
I will head on to Chiang Mai in late November for an extended stay in the triangle (CNX, BKK, SGN) โ which may or may not require completely different stuff.
We have been racking our brains to source our dream location:
The most obvious choices seem to be in developed countries such as California, Sydney and the Basque region. However we are currently based in Asia and love the bustle of it all.
So far we have come up with a few seasonal options being Taiwan in the right time of year and the Philippines. Sri Lanka might be OK but we arenโt sure on the internet and the climbing doesnโt seem to be near the coast.

I have only 3 empty pages left in my passport and according to speed of filling, I have 6 months. I donโt really want to go back to Europe just to change my passport.
So, anyone had this problem? is it possible to add pages to passport in Asia (iโll be in Vietnam, Thailand and Taiwan during those dates)? Or maybe change it?
Iโm going to be in various parts of South East Asia for 5 months (Japan, Korea, Vietnam, China, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Singapore, Indonesia) and I have decided based on much reading that I need to get a VPN set up for myself. Rather than using my own server, Iโd like to set up with a paid service which will have various places around the work to connect through which are reliable and appropriate for what Iโm doing (e.g. banking, chatting, emailing watching streaming TV from home, or Netflix).
Iโm sure there are plenty of recommendations out there.

This is something Iโm really torn about. I really love the lifestyle in Australia, but the high living costs means that I have to work hard at my day job to pay the bills while I get things off the ground. I wonโt be able to save much either.
In Malaysia, Iโll have a stable day job, free accommodation and lower costs of living, but am unsure if itโll be more difficult to get my online biz off the ground because Iโm not sure about the business contacts I can get in Malaysia.
