It's been 6+ years now but I'm in this for the long term and with the boost remote work got last year it's even more exciting to work on Nomad List than ever.

What are the best places right now in the Caribbean/LatAM? (Also cheapest flights/accommodation?) Asking from the US.

As part of signing up for this website I was hoping I would come across a list of Visa and/or Residency requirements by country ideally in a table format to assist with decision making. Does anybody recommend any other websites that might present the information in this format (or Google Spreadsheet)?

I love living in walkable areas of town. I can always find them. But now I'm wondering where in the world are the most walkable places? I'm imagining walk streets (no cars), zoning allowing both business and residential, parks or beaches ,etc.

Hi everybody. I live and work in Germany and want to go to Canary Islands for 6 months to work from there. I'm going to keep my current job, just change the "home" in the home office part of things. Are there any tax issues I have to be aware of? I was reading about becoming a residence after 183 days, thus having to pay taxes there plus my employer having to register there. Does anybody know how it works exactly? Thanks a lot!

Winter is coming and I’m feeling the ache of travelling after being stuck in the same place since the Pandemic started. Wondering if anyone is travelling right now? If so, where are you currently located and how is the situation where you are?

I’m planning a stint in Ireland and I’m wondering about the 90-day tourist visa. Official information just mentions the 90-day limit without elaboration. Is it akin to Schengen where it’s counted against the most recent 180-day period? I’m asking because I might like to take trips to the continent flying out of Dublin, but I don’t know how I should account for the days I’m gone if I do that. Do I stop the 90-day clock for Ireland while I’m away, or should I make sure I’m gone from Ireland <= 90 days after my initial arrival date, regardless of where else I go during that interval, just to be safe? What have others done?

Anyone want to share their strategy/tips for finding out what to do when you arrive at new location, and/or finding about ongoing events (for example when staying for longer term)?

I recently started running a software consultancy in the UK that specialises in MVP development and onboarding/marketing strategies. I found it relatively easy to get leads by attending networking events (quite a lot here in Edinburgh).

I plan to start travelling soon, though. Has anybody tried to travel while running a software consultancy? I’m really curious to find out how you handled finding new clients while doing that. Let’s say that if I go networking somewhere in Asia I won’t find clients willing to spend much on a project (and can’t just pay my employees less because I can’t find good paying projects).

I’ll be travelling to Peru soon to volunteer and thinking to teach online in Cusco. I’m wondering what the best set-up would be for speeds high enough to teach via video-platform online. I’m open to getting a SIM Card with a data package, getting a dedicated internet provider for a private apartment or using an ethernet cable to increase speed.

I’m planning to stay in London for about a month in August-September, to coincide with an industry workshop that’s happening there at the beginning of September, and would really love to find a spot in or near the Brick Lane/Whitechapel/Bethnal Green area. AirBnB seems pricy, but I’m unsure of how easy it is to get a place via SpareRoom.

Factors/Questions

• Budget: hoping to stay under £700, willing to go up to £800 for a perfect place right near Brick Lane
• Looking for a furnished private room in a flatshare; I’m pretty okay with a closet with a bed, so long as it’s a clean, cozy closet.
• Solo lady, so nowhere too dodgy. (My tolerance is about “New York at night in the hipster areas”-level. Mexico City in the historical district at night was a bit much for me.)
• Anyone know how easy it is to get a space in SpareRoom without actually being in the city? Or am I better served getting a hostel for a few days and accommodation-hunting then? I worry about not finding a space if I put it off until I’m there, as evidenced by my thinking about this six months beforehand.
• On that note, is that a time around when it might be harder to find accommodation, like university term starting or something?
• Is it easy enough to find a place from mid-month to mid-month, or is it mostly going to be whole months? (I guess this wouldn’t be as much of a concern if it’s a week-to-week.)
• Is it easy to get a space without a local bank account? DNing and all. Cash wouldn’t be an issue.
• How is the cafe-working culture in London? Is free decent wifi and outlets a common thing in coffee shops? I’m not super-thrilled with the idea of coworking spaces; the prices feel a bit high for me, and I actually kinda like working with a bustle around me, so long as there’s power and internet. I’ll probably look into it if it turns out there aren’t really a lot of cafes equipped to do that sort of thing though.

Hi Nomadistas, I’m considering Shanghai this Summer. I an American from California. I speak English, French, Swiss German, and Italian. I work for myself and will be writing a novel, unrelated to China. How is it going to be language wise to live and get around? Is there a universal translator app for my Android phone/TMobile?

I’m currently using Wifi Map Pro on iOS. Works pretty well, but no indication of speed or quality on that app. Any ideas?

We’re in Dublin for three weeks and we didn’t get a coworking space because the prices are higher than what we’ve been paying in other European cities and we won’t be here for too long.
We thought we might be able to work from our Airbnb but soon found out it’s impossible.
Does anyone know of good places to work from, like libraries or anywhere with high-speed internet and that will not be too loud? We take several video calls to the U.S.
