This city is not for everyone, if you like shopping malls and big crowded cities it is for you. It may be cheap but if you want to live in a good location with swimming pool, go to nice rooftops and restaurants, use taxis then it is similar cost to western countries. In many areas there are no sidewalks, big and dangerous traffic all the time, pollution, taxis do not want to go with meter, it can get really hot. Definitely try to live by the metro. Many foreigners, mostly friendly people, cheap

Love it! Don't expect them to speak English, that is NOT their native language. If you're going to go, learn some Spanish and respect their culture. No gentrification in Mexico, please.

I don't know exactly how Barcelona is still considered safe but it's far from it. It's probably the most dangerous city to live in Madrid and one of the most dangerous in europe, with constant pick-pocketing and even violent crimes to get your wallet and phone in certain areas. If you like a peaceful life, Barcelona is not the place anymore!!

Hong Kong is a great city with dense urban areas but also nature and hiking routes only 15 minutes away. There are restaurants for every taste and budget, from the best US fast casual chains to high end Michelin star restaurants. It's also extremely safe, despite recent political instability.

I was here in early 2024 for 2 months, and things have improved as far as availability of monthly apt hotels on a monthly basis. Probably because a lot of new buildings have opened so price competition is pushing down the higher rents a bit. I found a few large studios at around 1k per month, at apt hotels in the central KLCC area, and one small 1bed at 750 per. month. These are luxury apts, fully staffed reception during the day (staff leaves at 8 or 9 PM), 24 hour security, a gym and pool.

I spent 4 months working here during summertime. It's one of the best summers I have ever had in my life. The city is just amazing and offers dozens of outdoor activities. There are so many different places such as parks, lakes, hills, mountains, beaches, etc. Also, you can feel the Californication vibe on every step. “Don’t take your phone out” is some outdated advice… there are several people on the streets and in the metro using phones and taking pictures. Remember that nothing stays the same forever. Rio is safer than many people describe. Use your common sense.

Lived here for over a year, but I only recommend short visits. Contrary to what you hear, there is plenty of crime in parts of Dubai. Talking about that crime is considered taboo and, in many cases, is illegal. Sexual assault and gang violence against expats took place just outside my building, to people who lived in my building. I've been here 2 years now. I pay for internet at 3 seperate places (home, office, 2nd apartment on seaside) I pay about $20 USD / month for 300Mbps/300Mbps at each of the 3. Internet here is super cheap, reliable and fast.

Spent years here in the past. Now I know far too many people who've been robbed (often at gun point or knife point) to return. Had great times here but won't be back

So… amazing food. Great public transportation. Very clean. But very conformist. Self expression limited. The irony of seeing an exhibit on graffiti, yet no actual graffiti in the streets. And the causal racism especially if you’re brown. You could be British born but still expect to be sat far away from everyone else at cocktail bars, experience comments and have weird assumptions made.

I spent around 3 months in this city. Pros: - beautiful city (arquitecture- WOW)!! -Not so cold in winter -Lovely people Cons: It gets VERY HOT!! The summer is insanely hot and I could never live all year round in Seville. Conservative vibe Very dry climate.

Stay in one of these neighborhoods: Itaim Bibi, Jardim Europa, Jardim Paulista, or Pinheiros, and it will be great.

You could do worse, you could do better. Filthy & stressful, you have to Grab everywhere, even a short walk results in dodging aggressive motorbikes. Locals are super unfriendly, way worse than Hanoi, so not sure why everyone raves about how friendly they are in comparison. Poor quality in everything, even the luxury experiences are a total rip-off. Surprisingly underdeveloped too, not even a bar on their observation deck in Bitexco. Internet is really good, but stay as far from D1 as you can -

I'm so surprised to see all these comments. I absolutely love Jakarta ! You can take a gojek bike taxi for 1$ and they bring you anywhere. The skyline is beautiful at night. The food is good. Recife is one of Brazil´s larggest urban areas, with caothic traffic and other big cities problems, like insecurity. But it has so much colonial history, beautiful beaches and cool neighborhoods. The best area do stay is the south zone, specially Boa Viagem neighborhood. Recife is well knoe in Brazil for it´s famous carnival and cultural life, and in economical aspects, for the tech scene, with a lot of startups.
