I really loved Koh Tao. It's an amazing place to work from. Having everything so close and accessible really spoils you. No long rides to trips to get anywhere. Amazing restaurants, walks, snorkels etc all within 10-15 minutes on a scooter. The internet is wicked fast and very reliable, as was the power. Even during COVID times there were lots of places open to eat and hang out. TaoHub Coworking was a great home base to work from and hang out at.
I felt totally safe on the island the entire time I was there, and the local Thai and Burmese community were very welcoming.
AIS cellular worked very well (I have a flat rate 10mbp plan with them, so great for backup wifi and things on the go, and the coverage was very good around the island.
Don't just think this is a divers only island.. despite its size there is lots to do and a great community.

Truly a crime that Ko Tao is rated so low on NL at the moment. Incredible place to chill and get work done. Great community at TAOHUB, beautiful island, good/cheap diving, fast internet, very affordable, what's not to love?

Super nice place for nomading. TaoHub has a great community, facilities not the best but internet is super fast and the community lunch everyday is amazing. Ko Tao is beautiful, nice beaches, great roads, good food. I loved it!

Ko Tao is a quiet, laid back island. Mostly diving, but there are a lot of things to do. Wifi is super fast, food is cheap and good, people are friendly. There is a good amount of nightlife on the island, but not like Ko Phangan. This is a great option to come and chill if you are under a deadline, like to dive, or just need a quiet island escape.
Happily spent several weeks there.

Beautiful island. Lots of mellow nightlife spots and cafe's. Too bad there's a serial killer murdering young women a few times a year. Seriously though, look into the Koh Tao murders over the last few years. Women raped and murdered. They blame it on Burmese workers but nobody believes this. More likely it's local mafia children running the island. It's only a matter of time before the next crime. Sucks because I loved the place. Cheapest spot in the world to get your diving certification.

I have lived in this paradise for 12 years. The island has seen many changes over the years. Better roads, better safety with have the Koh Tao Rescue team working here as pre hospital care for people who have accidents. The dive safety is fantastic with all centres constantly communicating with each other. The eco projects we have on going include beach clean ups, dive site clean ups, 711 don't give plastic bags, the refused use of plastic.
This is my home and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else. Come and find out for yourself but be warned you may end up staying longer than you plan as you fall in love with this place straight away

So I am back on Koh Tao for the 3rd time in two years. I'm surprised by the low rating on here really. I find the island to be safe and comfortable. The internet speeds are very fast and reliable. Currently at TaoHub co-working space I can pull between 100-200Mbps down and 80-120Mbps upload. There are a ton of places to stay, eat and of course party :) Diving and snorkelling spots are plentiful around the island as well. Getting to the island is pretty easy from Samui, Chumpoon or Surat Thani now. I wonder how old some of the 201 reviews are, and if the site has a weighting system of old vs new reviews and scores. But don't let the current score keep you from checking out Koh Tao!! To speak to the other review about air quality, I've never had an issue, and they are now putting in reductions on plastic bag use, improving recycling and more.

Koh Tao is a amazing and beautiful island with more and more great cafes with good and free WiFi’s and workspaces. It’s a truly inspiring and safe place to be a female nomade in.

Absolut lovely place to be.

Koh Tao was a nice place to stay, but is not anymore. The main issue is the yet unsolved waste problem. Koh Taos air quality in the inner island has become very bad since more and more people start to burn their plastic waste in the backyard.
