I’m planning out my next stops after leaving Medellin, Colombia soon where I can hunker down and get some work done with fast wifi and cheap living. Will be in Mexico first so starting a look there but wondering if coming back down to South America might make more sense?
My main concerns are budget and fast enough wifi for me to work from home. Other considerations are some nomad community (ideally also some English speaking expats as my Spanish is basic) and warm enough weather.
Thanks in advance!

Thailand - Krabi vs. Koh Lanta in March
Hey Nomads -
So I’m looking to leave my current base in Chiang Mai, Thailand to head back down south in March to escape burning season.
I’m looking at staying for a month in either Krabi or Koh Lanta. I already spent a month on Koh Samui which was ok but I’m looking to explore the other side now and it seems this will be a good time of year seasonally to be on those islands.
Here are my main considerations and would love any thoughts:
- Housing - As the islands are much more expensive, I think it would be the most sensible to get an apartment or rental for a month. I got a good deal in Samui when I stayed for a month.
-A/C is a must
- Strong, Hi-speed wifi where I’m staying as I need to do video calls from home
- More walkable (or as much as possible) areas are preferred as I don’t use a motorbike and transportation back and forth to restaurants, etc. can get expensive
Walking distance to the beach would be great but price is a big more important factor
I don’t necessarily care about being near a co-working space as much of my work on video calls requires me to work from home anyway for privacy.
Anyone stayed on Krabi or Koh Lanta & have any suggestions?

tl;dr: introduce yourself in this thread.
We must all get sick of the same backpacker travel questions when we meet new friends, I know I do.
You know the ones - where are you from, where’ve you been, where are you going, what do you do, how long have you been doing it - etc.
The novelty of answering these questions wears off after maybe a week, but they’re nonetheless insightful and no matter how much we hate them, we find ourselves asking others.
So let’s bring the dreaded backpacker questionnaire to NomadForum and introduce ourselves shall we?
- what’s your name?
- where are you from?
- how long have you been away from home?
- what do you do?
- where are you currently?
- where are you going?
- what has been memorable for you so far?
- will you go home anytime soon?
- what have you learnt during your time as a nomad?
- [insert your own question here]
No need to answer them all if you don’t want to
But the more you share… The merrier!
Does anyone have recommendations to handle physical mail? In the USA, I’ve noticed various services over the years where you get a physical address that you can change your address to, they receive your mail, scan stuff and send you PDF’s.
Has anyone used these types of services? Impressions?
Hello everyone! This is Juan from Argentina.
I am currently based in Cluj (Romania) and looking for options once my tourist visa runs out of days, the Schengen area is not an option due to the same reason. My current options are either the Balkans (Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia, Montenegro, Macedonia), Bulgaria, Turkey or Southeast Asia (Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia). Timeframe: between JAN/FEB18 to MAR/APR18.
The criteria would include:
- Rent below or around 600 EUR / mo
- Reliable and fast internet connection
- Gay friendly
By “gay friendly” I mean that you can have a personal/romantic/sexual life without fearing for your personal safety.
PS. My “go to” websites for deciding stuff like this are Numbeo and Nomadlist, if you got any other data aggregator alike please let me know!
I am planning to start living a semi-nomadic lifestyle from the beginning of next year, probably spending around half my time on the road and half my time at home (but keeping an open mind).
I was just wondering what dating is like as a digital nomad? This is important to me. I am looking for a committed relationship, somebody to have adventures with. Monogamy is a must, but no rush for marriage, children etc.
In your experience, is this something lots of nomads are doing/ looking for? Or is it just a lot of casual sex and “locationships”?
Looking forward to hearing all about your experiences! Thank you everyone
I would like to move in Thailand for 6-9 months starting from August.
I’ll definetely stay in Chiang Mai as base for most of the time but I’d like to do the first month (August) in Bangkok or somewhere else.
What place would you recommend to visit first?
Would Bangkok be a good place to be during August?
I was also checking at the east coast isles but I got a little frightened out by the moonsoon idea but still, it would be cool to go to beaches and have some sun during that month .
Would the moonsoons or the rain really be a problem?
I’ll move to Chiang Mai from september anyway but I would just like to start somewhere else since I have to wait for my girlfriend to come during september.
Thank you in advance for your advices,
Sorry for the bad english,
