Any recommendations for a few weeks stay in a small, quiet town or village somewhere in Italy/France during summer ? Open to any setting, by the seaside, in the mountains or the countryside - I’d like to get a feel for local life (outside the cities) in a charming place.
Having hiking routes available nearby would be a bonus, but not required.
Internet speed will not be very important, so that does not need to be taken into consideration.
I’ll likely be doing both Italy and France, so suggestions for both would be great.

Does anyone have experiencing entering Nicaragua by plane with a one way ticket ? Specifically, I intend to book a ticket via Spirit. I am aware it is mostly airlines that check for onward travel. Does anyone have experience with this ? Flyonward seems to have been getting bad reviews lately. Would a bus ticket to a neighbouring country be enough to convince Spirit ?
I hold South African/Portuguese dual citizenship, however I was born and (officially) reside in South Africa. Any recommendations for a nomad friendly european bank account ? Ie, one that does not require residency, proof of address, or have easy ways to get around these.
I will not be using it much for day to day expenses, more as a way to hold euros and be able to transfer between accounts. My US bank account has very high fees.
I am in europe for the next week or two (currently Italy) and hope to be able to get one before I leave.
A friend of mine is setting off on her first long solo trip, starting in Brazil. She will initially be backpacking but may turn to working on the road at some point.
I’d like to get her a nice gift for the trip and though I have a few ideas, I thought I’d come here for some further inspiration. What have you found yourself missing on the road, or what item or service has made your travels better/more comfortable/enjoyable ?
An example from my experience: a way to organise laundry, eg packing cubes or dry bags.
I’m in the UK at the moment and will be here from time to time over the coming year. I’d like to setup a bank account for use in europe & to make funding my revolut card easier. Does anyone know which banks accept non UK residents? I do have a european passport/ID, though I am technically a resident of south africa. Proof of address might also be a sticky point - I have an address which I can use but have no proof that I ‘live’ there (besides my revolut card).
Another nice to have would be bitcoin friendly (eg I’ve read about barclays accounts being closed due to being used in connection with bitcoin, not sure whether that is a general thing).
I’m soon heading out on my first solo international trip as a remote worker.
I’m thinking of starting in Istanbul mid June, and slowly making my way up
north, staying a month or so in cities along the way.
Have any of you stayed in Istanbul for a couple of weeks or longer? Anyone there now?
For accommodation there seems to be some options on airbnb.
- Which areas are good and which are best avoided?
- Are there any useful local sites?
- Would it be worth booking a place for a couple of nights and trying to find a good deal on the ground?
- What would a good rate be for a room or small apartment for a one month stay?
A lot of questions here, I’d appreciate any bits of advice you can share!
I’ve been travelling through some major cities in eastern europe and now I’m looking to get somewhere a bit more quiet where I can settle for a few weeks, focus and get some work done.
I really enjoy nature and hiking, so it would be great if those come as part of the package.
It would be nice if there are some english speaking people around to meet, but you can’t have everything.
I plan on making my way down the croatian coast (starting from slovenia) at some point in the next couple of months, though right now I imagine it’s extremely busy and relatively expensive. Or are there any spots that could be worth checking out now?
I’m considering Kotor too.
Thanks in advance
I’m currently travelling through europe and my two-bag setup is a chore. Can any of you recommend top loading backpacks that I’d be able to find in a store, or that has reasonably quick delivery time (within a week)?
I’d love to get a tortuga, but they don’t ship to where I’m from.
I might settle down somewhere for a bit longer in which case I could probably order anything, but I’d love to ditch my old backpack asap so any suggestions would be appreciated!
I am heading to Istanbul soon… I have a multiple entry visa valid for a 30 day stay within a 180 day period. I intend to spend a week or so in Istanbul and then travel onward, eventually returning to Istanbul in October for my return flight. So I will not be there for longer than 30 days - but I don’t yet have any proof of an onward journey as I would prefer to keep my plans flexible. Could this cause any trouble?
My rough and likely to change itinerary is Istanbul, Split, Budapest, Prague - for about a month each, doing a couple short weekend trips to other cities/sites along the way.
Some background:
This will be my first solo international trip is a remote worker.
I’d love to get a taste for the culture of the cities I visit, meet some fellow travellers and nomads along the way, explore nature / hike (and of course, get work done).
Would be great to hear what some of you would do (or have done), and why?

I am nomad from past 1 year and i always find very difficult to find travel buddy. Local people i meet have jobs and are free on weekends only. How you guys find travel buddy or how you meet local people?
I’m a South African about to become a Nomad next year. I will still be employed by a South African company and receive a salary into my FNB bank account monthly.
I will be mostly based in Serbia but plan on travelling a lot. Does anyone have any advice on the best bank account to have? Is there a way to not get charged a small fortune in ATM charges and avoid getting my account frozen for using it in lots of countries?
I’m unsure of the best way to handle things. Should I try get another bank account outside of SA (Can I even do that)? I also have a British Passport if that makes a difference.
If any of you have any experienced advice I would be very grateful, Thanks in advance!
I am deep in the search from Mexico to Barbados, Cayman Islands to Columbia.
Anyone know of a hostel with good internet on the beach or a co-living house happening?
Hey guys!
Doing some travel planning for when my boyfriend and I have to be out of the Schengen in the spring. I’m looking at Dubrovnik and Mostar. We’ll probably get to both of them, but was wondering - for those who have been - which one would you recommend basing in longer-term?
Some context on us: we love food and the outdoors. Both of us are cyclists (and should have folding bikes with us by then) and enjoy hiking/walking. Great views are a must. And neither of us are bar or party people, so the night scene isn’t a factor for us. Quiet places are great and I love small towns.
Keep in mind that this will be March/April/maybe May next year, so not high tourist season. I don’t mind if things are generally bustling, but I hate super crowded touristy spots (for example: I love Rome in winter and hate it in summer).
If anyone has insight, would love to hear it!
