Introduce yourself — who are you, where are you and what do you do?

by @coffeeshopceo |  | 672 comments

tl;dr: introduce yourself in this thread.

We must all get sick of the same backpacker travel questions when we meet new friends, I know I do.

You know the ones - where are you from, where’ve you been, where are you going, what do you do, how long have you been doing it - etc.

The novelty of answering these questions wears off after maybe a week, but they’re nonetheless insightful and no matter how much we hate them, we find ourselves asking others.

So let’s bring the dreaded backpacker questionnaire to NomadForum and introduce ourselves shall we?

**

  • what’s your name?
  • where are you from?
  • how long have you been away from home?
  • what do you do?
  • where are you currently?
  • where are you going?
  • what has been memorable for you so far?
  • will you go home anytime soon?
  • what have you learnt during your time as a nomad?
  • [insert your own question here]

**

No need to answer them all if you don’t want to
But the more you share… The merrier!

What nomads are out there traveling married and/or with a family?

by @danielgenser |  | 37 comments

I’m curious to hear from the nomads out there who are traveling as a married couple (or long term committed couple, no matter). Many of the articles, guides, and tips one reads are understandably written from the single traveler’s perspective (even if they are traveling in a group).

What nomads are out there traveling with a marriage mate and/or family?

Blog recommendations for mid-budget nomads?

by @kathrynoh |  | 7 comments

Pretty much what the title says, I’ve been trying to find a few good blogs to follow by nomads in the mid-budget range. There seems to be a ton in the budget/backpacker range, trying to do everything as cheaply as possible or, in the mid-budget range but are short-term travellers.

There does seem to be a lack of blogs in the mid-budget, long term travel area that aren’t run by professional bloggers & full of sponsored posts. Am I looking in the wrong places or is it just that people in this niche are too busy making a living doing other work don’t bother blogging?

I follow Making It Anywhere, which is good but not updated much. Any other recommendations?

Who is a solo-traveling digital nomad, who's traveling in a group or as a nomad family?

by @naii |  | 25 comments

It feels that being a digital nomad / remote worker also means a lot to be a solo-traveler. I’d like to see how much this is the case here — out of curiosity. And whether there are actually groups or families traveling in the (digital) nomad lifestyle.

How is Cape Town for digital nomads?

in Cape Town, South Africa by @jammingsloth |  | 32 comments

Has anyone spent time in Cape Town? Any recommendations on places to stay? Airbnb seems pretty sparse. Wifi also doesn’t seem to be a strong suit - anyone have positive experiences?

Are there people in relationships that are digital nomads?

by @tobu |  | 10 comments

I’m looking into the remote work lifestyle. Recently quit my standard job and working on my own. I have a wife though, specialized in pharmaceutical area so not really the type for remote work. Looking for any inspiration if anyone managed to do a couples nomading, where one co-worked and the other found local jobs. Looking to stay half to one year in one place.

Nothing does a better job of explaining LA’s beautiful diversity and different neighborhoods than the documentary about the late Jonathan Gold, our city’s greatest amabassador and the only food critic to ever win a Pulitzer Prize. It is called, “City of Gold” and if you want to know LA, just watch this film. Trailer link: https://youtu.be/DmKTRDfz1zM

Oaxaca is a city of arts, in its style, vibe and people it attracts. It has a wonderfully peaceful and relaxed atmosphere. I was here for a few months and really enjoyed it. I am more a business type of guy but if I'd be more relaxed I could image spending a few years here.

  • Tulum

Coming from Bali, Tulum is probably 7 years behind. Wifi and cell signal isn't great everywhere. Not many co-working spaces. Similar prices to what you would find in USA. Covid restrictions don't really exisit.
