Does anyone have experience with coliving?

by @vladepap |  | 8 comments

Hey,
Does anyone have experience with coliving? Is this lifestyle reserved for us sad and lonely nomads or is it intentional communities 2.0?

I see it as the next generation of coworking and have been thinking that it is a feasible solution for me. I’m wondering if there are any success or nightmare stories out there?

Ours is a transient, spontaneous at times, existence. What physical/geographical community can we build in this space? Is that important?

Villages-rural destinations in Europe, for slow nomadism?

by @magalhini |  | 28 comments

Hi fellow nomads!

I’m currently on a quest to find some places for temporary living on a quiet, ideally green and mountainy village, somewhere in Europe, since I feel l could use a break from the busy lifestyles of Berlin and London.

Trouble is, everyone always goes for the big cities… finding villages with decent access (not requiring endless hours of driving from an airport) is proving to be tough so far

Some options are some inner, rural places in Romania and Slovakia, but I would love to hear what suggestions you come up with! Maybe somewhere in your home country that you know it’s a gem to decompress around nature ?

I would love to hear your thoughts
A cheer for slow living! :camel:

Any nomads in Europe want to do a Nomad Christmas gathering somewhere?

by @wanderingdev |  | 16 comments

Hi Nomads!

Like many, I’m not heading back to be with my family for the holidays but I was thinking it would be fun to maybe do a nomad family gathering. We could rent a cool house/apartment somewhere fun and do our own thing. I personally am available from 23-27 December, but people could arrive/leave sooner/later. I love to cook so I’d be up for doing a big christmas dinner.

If anyone is interested, or has suggestions on a good place to go, chime in!

What are some mediterranean (beachside) coworking places?

by @srg_b |  | 12 comments

Hey folks,

Are there any nomad communities in mediterranean locations close to the beach, apart from Sun and co?

Thanks!

Formentera, Spain vs. Santorini, Greece?

in Santorini, Greece by @que |  | 5 comments

Hi,
I’m ready to start traveling again (looking at May through August, about). I have a little more money to spend and would like an island experience in Southern Europe. I’m a little older and looking for a little more comfort these days. I would plan to rent a 1 bedroom apartment if possible. Places that come to mind are Formentera or Santorini. I’d like to stay for 2 or 3 months. Does anyone have any experiences to share with these two locales. One concern I have about Greece is safety given the economic crisis. Any insight into there would be appreciated.

Thanks

How would you define "visiting" vs. "living" in a country?

by @krompson |  | 11 comments

CouchSurfing.com profiles have a section where users list countries they’ve visited and countries they’ve lived in–an interesting distinction for a nomad to think about.

Certainly there’s no one right way to define “visiting” and “living,” but how would you define each of these?

Nice city. Need cash in many places still hence long lines for ATMs. Safe. Pretty. Goes from cloudy to sunny to cloudy to sunny. Take a bike tour to see the city. I stay in Chapinero which was nice. There a gym called Body Tech and they'll let you work out there for free your first time. No water fountains though so bring your own.

  • Cartagena

I was there for one week and stayed in Bocagrande, about a 10 minute taxi ride from the Walled City. Pros of Cartagena: Inexpensive locale, reliable and fast internet, good weather (if you like it hot), not terribly crowded (aside from Walled City), beauty/history/nightlife of Walled City. Cons: Local beaches are average at best and riddled with vendors who accost visitors non-stop, street vendors are less pushy but everywhere, fluency in Spanish is very helpful (not really a con, just is),

During winter is quite safe plus much cheaper. Some nightclubs are free and yet there is still a lot of people. Great por lgbtq+ community.
